IC: would you buy a homemade vewlix cabinet? how much would you pay?

Hi Guys,

I went ahead with this idea and ran with a Cigarbob like cab idea for a test run. I don’t know how to build shit, lol, so a friend of a friend built this for me. I sketched out the dimensions and he went from there. Due to this probably, some mistakes were made. Most prominent is he held the template upside down when he drilled the holes, hehe. It was a little taller than I wanted too, as he added a base.

We went with 3/4 plywood board. It was pretty cheap. It took 2 sheets for the whole thing. Basic measurements are 44 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 32 inches tall. Top panel hinge opens from back with latches. Has cabinet shelves inside. Has wheels on the side and handle. Thing is pretty damn sturdy and doesn’t move.

Next steps is to patch up the holes (with dowels) and drill 4 new ones with my hand drill. I have to finish it as well. Since this is a test cab, I am being too lazy to paint it. I just might get a arcademarquee vinyl overlay for the control panel and be done with it and leave everything else bare (everything is sanded smooth). I was researching using vinyl wallpaper or vinyl flooring, but I am not sure yet. Of course I have to wire it up, but that should be the easiest part (all happ parts for this).

As this was a test run, I learned alot. I already have another cab planned up (1 player one this time), so it will be smaller, and hopefully easier. Probably going to go with mdf this time and finish it with black kitchen laminate all over. And use that or plexi for the top. Will do the cabinet doors different so I can lock it, and make the whole thing a little shorter. Will shall see. Just want to make it more streamlined.

Anyways, here are some pics of what it looks like now. I will post more up later when I am done with everything. And props to Cigarbob, with the og cab, hehe.

Also, critique away. And give me some tips to easily apply laminate
