What’s this i hear about Ibuki having an unblockable that works in the arcade version but not on ps2?
Xenozip or Feint could better explain it but from what I understand it involves hitting someone with a real meaty kunai after knocking them down and cancelling into super. This creates a guard break in the Ver.A arcade cab and allows a free combo. Just like any unblockable you can simply parry the kunai (granted you timed the parry correctly) but the opponent will more than likely still end up taking some kind of damage. Unless you come out with some godlike reflexes and parry down the entire super.
We’re all console warriors down at my local tourney venue so I never get to utilize it. It’s rare to even see the Japanese utilize it (as far as vids…I’ve never seen a vid of it being done) so it seems like it’s just one of those things you just use when the opportunity arises.
Throw an air qcf+LP from one side, delay cancel it into SA.1 (LP or MP version) from the other side. The SA.1 should hit before the Kunai, thus two projectiles will be hitting from both directions causing a guard break.
In the PS2 version this is always blockable (meaning, it will never guard break) since the way blocking works for the PS2 is different from the arcade version.
In the arcade version the only way to avoid this unblockable is to parry the first few hits then continue blocking the rest of the super (or continue parrying, heh). Not useful against Oro or Makoto since they can dash to avoid it.
In the PS2 version you can just block. It’s not even hard to block, just block it.
It won’t work even if you set guard judgment to old?
Correct.
In the arcade version simultaneous hits from both sides will cause guard break. Meaty simultaneous hits from both sides will cause guard break. Unsynchronized hits from both sides can be blocked, but it’s very difficult to block since you have to manually input the correct direction for each hit – meaning you need to press left to block an attack hitting on the right and then immediately press right to block an attack hitting on the left.
In the PS2 version simultaneous hits from both sides can be blocked with one direction input. Meaty simultaneous hits from both sides can always be blocked regardless of which direction you input – the first few hits are auto-blocked so long as you press either direction to begin the block. Unsynchronized hits from both sides can be blocked but it’s very difficult to block, this is the only reason why Urien’s and Oro’s “unblockables” work in the PS2, they aren’t technically unblockable but they will usually cause guard breaks because most people aren’t fast enough to block left-right-left-right.
