Ibuki thread

Lets try posting the URL to these vids. :depress:

What a pain. I just spent the last 15 minutes trying to beat-up ken. I’m trying to diversify by learning lotsa characters, but I’m thinking of skipping Ibuki…

unless there’s something I’m missing.
I love pulling out her Hien (RDP+K), into Kunai, cmd dash, throw. Unfortunately it hardly ever works, when can I use it best? Wake up? (not against shoto’s anyway, I can still hear the echoes go “shoryuuuuu…”) Canceling into it from far.fierce works better, but YOU try landing that slow-bum move.

Also, s.forward xx Raida is wonderful

She doesn’t have an impressive arsenal when it comes to strength… I end up panicking and backjump-Kunai into my own demise…
f+rh is slow
f+forwars is slower
… there has to be something fast with range… so, throw me abone here guys…

The tragedy of ibuki is that you’ll always be pulling off these huge combos on your opponent but never be doing any real damage. I’ve talked to several people about this, and they all agree that if you couldn’t see the life bars, it would look like a skilled ibuki player would be winning, but rarely ever does.

the back and medium kick has really good range, and chains into the toward and medium kick. None of it’s superfast, but the toward and roundhouse has its merits (avoiding low attacks), and the toward and medium can link into super three or an ex spin kick.

A trick I use to advance that usually only works once or twice per match is to jump and throw a light version of the air dagger at the last possible moment to allow you to cross up and start a combo if it hits, or throw them or something. It’s a safer way to advance then people who are wise to your hien tricks.

eliot, you probably didn’t know this but that’s an ibuki “unblockable:” light air knife/cross up/land and do a 3 hit combo into raida. it’s being debated right now as if it’s an unblockable or just a mix up in blocking.

Unblockables are allways the results of bi-derectional attacks, and hitting because the player can’t block in both directions (in the arcade version).

But the knife cross… don’t you land on the same side as the player is blocking? At least, I allways jump OVER my opponent when I attempt the cross. :wtf:
If you don’t, then I’m guessing you’d have to land pretty quick to catch the other guy still in the block recoil.

I read that it was an unblockable in some guy’s “my technique is unblockable” thread, or something. I can’t get the distance right and I think it takes quite a bit more practice than the guy lets on, and would be more difficult to land during a heated match than urien’s aegis reflector crap.

For the unblockable, I cant seem to hit the crossover dagger. Usually the dagger would miss the opponent. Do you guys know how high above the opponent Ibuki has to be?

i don’t use ibuki much but i do know the setup for the unblockable. get within one ibuki dash (regular) of your opponent then do a super jump. at the apex of her height wait 1/4 or 1/5 of a second then throw a jab dagger. your opponent will be blocking in the opposite direction once you land. that’s when you do the combo. like i said, it’s being debated as an unblockable or a mixup in blocking. i think it is an unblockable b/c i’ve done it against turtlers who block well.

about playing computer shotos with ibuki - it’s hard. if you jump they’ll uppercut you down. the command dash into throws/combos doesn’t work against the AI after the car stage. ibuki, like 12 is best played against humans.

i’ll make another thread concerning ibuki footages.

I use a different set up for the cross-up dagger.
mine is:
throw (something that happens a lot if you play Ibuki)
then…
take one step back (until the shadows are about 1/3 a shadow width apart… or siimply sweep range)
jump toward until you are exactly on top of them,
Jab Kunai
do a SLOW cancel into SA1

Why slow? because I have a dreamcast, and the Kunai needs to land (the AI falls for it a lot) so it has a better chance of comboing into SA1…
The lack of unblockables on the DC is a real pitty.

I thought someone asked if the EX Hien was cancelable… yes it most deffinitely is. Got an opponent jumping back to throw a fireball? EX Hien that shit down, and cancel the SECOND hit. The timing is a bit weird. I usually do the movement so that I can press punch right as she’s jumping back.

PS
Ibuki is not hot, she’s got NO curves, and she could be cute if she didn’t wear ninja gear or tight pants.

I downloaded a bunch of Ibuki videos off GoForBroke and I keep seeing these air combos and then jump and do some more and shit.

What is her air combos?

Also what is her best Karathrow?

The best air chain with her is: hp, then hold forward and do mk.

Hmm…I heard someone mention Kubiori unblockable in the other thread. Anyone know what this is?

Fierce into kubi ori is really good IMO.

#2 super tops all

I still use Super Art 1. :stuck_out_tongue:

#2 still better

number one is definatley better, especially against tall guys - Q, urien, hugo.

I like to do jump in 2 hitter, jab, strong, fierce, ex uppercut kicks into falling jab , toward fierce, ex kick again, super  31 hits no stun baby!!!

yeah yeah andrew…=P still i know you love the way i use #2

best way: someone jumps in, jab, dash other side…boom super…

My Ibuki sucks

You guys are too good. :frowning:

andrew (nate)'s ibuki is better…everything he does looks so nice…
