Block. And then keep blocking or throw. If u see him going for level 3 unblockable then backdash right before the attack will hit u.

Yeah sorry, I meant lvl 3 focus unblockable. Ultra is a good option. I’ll have to try backdash as well, but that won’t work if I’m in the corner.
Yep, I knew it. Everyone jizzed their pants when they saw target combo ultra and ive yet to see it other than in a video. Hell I dont even see target combos that often from Ibuki players lol.
So is the cr.HP SJC kunai, land, TC4 into whatever character specific, or does it work on everybody? I guess I haven’t been able to get the timing on the kunai after the cr.HP, they always seem to recover from hitstun before I can combo after I land. Is it just really tight timing when you land, or is it tight timing on the SJC kunai?
If he is timing it so that the FA3 hits meaty as you are getting up, the idea is to backdash as the FA3 has finished charging and is about to hit you like DevilJin said. Even though you’re in the corner, Ibuki will hop back and make the FA whiff. Then they can’t dash cancel and you’re free to punish when you recover from the dash. It’s a lot tighter on timing but if you keep relying on wake ups, they will begin to start charging focus and back dash to bait your reversals.
By the time you read this, you’ve probably already passed that stage of learning the game
Is a regular jump kuenai always unsafe? If so, should you only throw a kuenai after a sj?
Thanks, I’m sure it’s something I’ll need to get used too.
I have it in PDF and in cropped JPG form, just unsure about posting it raw…might not be a good idea. Perhaps if someone wants a copy and can decode/reformat it for posting…
Im a fellow Ibuki main just came from playing boxer and cammy i have slowly integrated into a rush down mindset. One problem I have been having with Ibuki is that my zoning is great. I have no problem being a physical wall. I have problems getting in and staying in aswell as getting untechable knockdowns. It seems that with the lack of forgivness and what not makes it hard for Ibuki to take any risks with a long distance sweep due to her low health. A good veteran player knows his footsies and kind of rocks Ibuki in that sense. I have learned to abuse her slide at an optimum distance as a way to get in but it doesnt have much if any frame advantage on block or hit. If anyone has some advice on how to apply pressure without being point blank i would like some friendly fellow Ibuki advice. P.S I have been play testing and I will put some mathcup advice in the respective forum.
Yeah don’t feel like you’re a noob for eating FA3. Everyone eats one of those now and again, even well seasoned players like Daigo. lol
When you have a knocked down opponent is there a certain timing that you should use in order to get a sj kunai to target combo to work? It seems more often than not I’ll cross up with a kunai then promptly get thrown when I try to start my combo. Any ideas?
Check out the Ibuki Vortex thread for great info and videos :karate:

That happens to me a lot, too. Read the first post of the Vortex thread, it tells you the exact properties of when a Kunai will cross up and when it won’t. The most reliable position is after a neckbreaker. SJ before the opponent is about to get up, throw the Kunai very shortly before you cross him up, then you should be safe for doing a follow up target/link combo.
I don’t quite have the timing down either, as I got thrown out a lot of my vortex startup attempts yesterday, but I think that should be about it.
Thanks guys! I don’t know if you remember, Seedy, but we played yesterday or so in an endless lobby. Nice ibuki!
Ah yes, the name is familiar! GGs!
I find my self in real trouble from time to time vs Rog the corner pressure game with the jabs is a bit of a bitch… i get out from time to time but when i’m locked down its a bitch, any tips on what to do to beat jab or head butt? besides dash and kazegiri. Oh and one more thing, has anyone been having trouble with rose match ups?
i seem to get poked to death if i’m not all over her…
Just keep blocking against the jabs and look for an opening to jab your way out with s.LP or just tech throw or jump forward when u think he’s going to throw to get out of there. Headbutt should be easy to deal with. If he’s using it from a range EX raida can grab him out of it from a very long range if he whiffs. If he’s using it close to you where you’re forced to block it he’s very punishable on block. Should be able to hit him with s.LP or c.LP into combo after you block. If you have Ultra 1 (which u pretty much should only be using in this fight IMO) you can reverse any headbutt that you block at close range with full grab u1. If you’re using ultra 2 u can only punish LP and MP headbutts I believe.
can i treat raida like viper’s BK for when i KNOW the other person is gonna try to tech my throws? and does regular raida work or should i usually go for the ex?
Ah ok thx DJ
