Ibuki Q&A Thread: Ask simple questions here!

Anyone have tips for using Ibuki on an arcade stick?
I just bought one the other day and I can not get the hang of it. On the controller I could flawlessly pull off most things, but for the stick it’s just not happening for me.

What is the startup and damage of the non grab version of Ultra 1. Damage is 274 correct?

Start up…well it’s not listed in the wiki frame guide. Does about a little less than 300 damage yeah.

I really have trouble with people who spam moves that aren’t normally punishable. Like I have trouble against hondas who spam butt slams and headbutts. I have trouble against Bisons who spam scissor kicks. I have trouble against blanka balls, etc.

I have no idea what to do in situations like these. I attempt to find solutions but I get overwhelmed when the ones I try do not work. It leads to me losing against players like those. The best I can do is to space myself to make these attacks whiff but that isn’t 100%.

You can press buttons at all of those. If you know someone is spamming headbutts or buttslams just neutral jump MK. Neutral jump MK stuffs both of those pretty free. Kunais stop all horizontal Blanka balls cold and unless Honda spaces his headbutt perfectly where his head busts through the kunai he can’t go through kunai with his headbutt either. You can also just stop them with buttons like s.LP or s.MP if you’re feeling ballsy.

^ I’m not sure what to do against bison’s sk but I’m pretty sure that blanka ball gets punished by neck breaker on block, hope that helps a little bit

Yeah u can punish horizontal Blanka balls on block easily with HP neck breaker. Bison’s scissor kick can be an issue but if you’re at a range and you know he’s going to do it u can f+HK him out of the start up. If you’re at the right distance away from him u can focus backdash the first hit of the scissor and the second hit will whiff and you’ll get some space away from him. Dictator can only use scissors when he’s charging so remember that as you’re fighting him. Unless Dictator is crouching or walking away from you he can’t scissor you. So if the Bison player is doing anything other than those two things u don’t have to worry about getting hit by a scissor. Unless you get hit by a c.LK or get knocked down worrying about getting hit by scissors shouldn’t be an issue. The jist of fighting Dictator though is just to knock him down. The more times u can put him on his ass the better chance you’ll have of winning. You have to play very basic against him until u knock him down and block really good if you get knocked down.

Someone else mentioned that using f+lk after his sk it will stuff some things he can do after it, which has helped me A LOT. Also, focus rape honda’s butt slams if he get’s too predictable.

Using an arcade stick with Ibuki is the same as learning to use an arcade stick with any other character. Sit yourself in training mode and do combos and practice motions over and over and over until u can do them multiple times in a row with error. Also remember to be gentle with the motions since if you’re using a TE stick or other stick with Japanese parts they are made to be very sensitive to movement. You barely have to put any hand effort in at all to do the motions.

For your informations. The startup of U1 non grab is larger then 18 frames so its fucking useless except for chip.

If anybody wants a sparring partner please add me. I main ibuki of course and I play as adon and Abel and sometimes gouken. I’m not super good but I can put up a challenge =]

I’m getting fustrated playing ranked all the time capcom half ass the mathmaking. If I am 1500pp 0bp I’m obviously trying to try out a new character why put me againsnt a 2000 pp 5000bp player? Same thing when Im playing as ibuki (5000bp) why the hell are 300pp players being matched up with me? All that does is fustrates new players

I never like to fight anything but really good people. Even if I’m trying out a new character I prefer to play against people who I know will go all out and force me to learn things on the fly and punish me for things. That way it’s easier for me to see what I should and shouldn’t be doing. When u play a new character against people that aren’t that good or just ok u tend to develop bad habits with that character that will just get u fucked up even more against good people any way. You can try shit out with a new character in training mode. You don’t need to spar with someone just to try shit out…just forces bad habits because they’ll let you get away with things that won’t work against better players.

Though that’s a mentality that a lot of people can’t really understand since people usually equate losing or getting beat badly as not having fun or nothing productive. These days people prefer games where u just get instant gratification or get rewards even though you’re not really doing anything good. When in fact the best way to learn and to have fun later on is to get beat up and get all of the mistakes out of you early. Which is why people are always making threads about supposedly thinking about quitting the game because they keep losing. Which the only way to win is to understand why you lose any way. Losing is just an outline for winning.

Oh and Capcom is lazy. That’s the only explanation for their half assedness with the ranking system.

That’s some deep shit right there.

I’ll be your sparring partner but it seems you only have XBL.

I’ve just recently started playing around with Ibuki and I just cant get the vortex down. The problem is that I cant get the Target combo LP, MP, HP to combo with the kunai, the opponent always has time to block. Is there some weird timing to get down or is it just to keep doing it as early as possible?
Is this a common issue with new Ibuki players?

practice the timing in training mode. also try doing the c.lp, lp, mk link if need be.

^Why? Crouching jab comes out in 4 frames which is an extra frame longer.

He’s probably assuming he’s trying to do TC4 on a gay character like Blanka/Claw where TC4 would whiff if they crouch block.

yups

im having trouble with getting the last kick on tsumuji to go low instead of hitting high so i can get the untechable knockdown and start the vortex. any suggestions?
