Ibuki Player Guide (book)

Some of XBL’s “top ranked players” are just extremely boosting (like this God Palkia mexican dude with > 7 000 PP), but, I don’t know if I only had bad luck, but almost all the > 10 000 BP I’ve met on PC were under my level, while I don’t have a top tier level yet

Is it wrong if I think that I can beat 95% of the PSN/XBL population in an offline setting, and therefore I think this 95% are all terrible?

If you’re implying what I think you are, then this pretty much sums up my point. Although seriously, on XBL I’ve been up the biggest heads in the UK. Some I can destroy online, some I can only beat offline.

Damascus, if you played AE PC and XBL using a character that’s not based on ambiguous mix-ups etc. like say Ryu or Adon, you won’t think there’s much of a difference.

Anyway, that guy you mentioned isn’t actually boosting. It has more to do with his region. In my opinion, it’s easier to get PP in America, and even easier to get it in Japan. The more players a region has, the easier it is to get points.

That being said, the hardest opponents for me online are usually always French players, and any good UK players I’ve probably met at WSO.

I’m implying that most people I play online seem to rely on some sort of online gimmick(s), and therefore I feel like I would easily be able to destroy them offline, or if they otherwise didn’t have their gimmicks at their disposal.

One example might be a Jaguar Kick spamming Adon, when I know for a fact that I can reaction ultra punish it almost every time, due to a local Adon player I play with a bunch of times. Unless your name is Gamerbee and you have the ability to mess with even Justin Wong’s reactions.

Izuna:
Yeah, PPs are easier with more players online of course. This is France’s main problem: seriously, I swear that there are less than 100 players regularly playing online ranked on this game. Every time I play ranked, I know all of the French guys I’m gonna play. There are just not enough players over here
God Palkia? I saw a bunch of stuff about him boosting on youtube. Some matches with him beating an opponent (who’s apparently from his team) who’s not even moving.
Anyway seeing a top ranked Xbox Live player not even playing in tournament means there is probably a problem. Like Alioune Sensei, nicely nicknamed in France “the Legend of the Couch”, in reference of the fact that he just plays on his couch and nowhere else, who really doesn’t want to go in tournaments, god knows why

Mingo:
Seeing you speaking about bad online stuff all the time makes me think that either you have a bad connection, either all US players are far from you. I personally don’t really often play with a connection bad enough to interfere with my reactions. Unless the guy is from Poland or some far country. Playing with French people usually results in no lag.

It’s online. Every connection is a bad connection. And considering Street Fighter is a game of reactions and 1f links, every millisecond counts.

I don’t want my opponent to suddenly have safe® options against me just because we’re playing online, and I don’t want to have to worry about punishing properly just because we’re playing online.

Until online becomes as transparent as offline, I will continue to be dissatisfied, as well as bitch and moan.

Lmao, no wonder. I guess I heard wrong.

There’s a gimmick that only works offline for me… Dash up st.Roundhouse. People can’t react to my dash online so they press any buttons. I usually allow the time to run out if needs be when I’m playing at the Arcades, but online I want the match to be over ASAP. Actually that’s not really true, if you watched my Yang replays I’m probably turtling more than anyone haha.

I’m assuming you’re not doing this with Ibuki right? Unless I’m missing something…

Replace ultra with EX dp and then yes.

Although one time I think I ultra2 punished Adon’s Jaguar Kick offline. It might have just been a whiffed Jaguar Kick though, I dunno.

Off-topic question: If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of fonts were you using to create this peice?
It’s a very awesome cover.

I used Arial, Times New Roman and a custom font Agency.

Maybe it’s a little late to ask this, it would be AWESOME if you could include a video showing hands, so we can see the timing of a few combos.
Even if that’s not included in the guide, if anybody could give me a hand with this I would totally appreciate it.
What I would like to see (that are my main difficulties):

  • cr.lp > st.lp> st.mk > Neckbreaker
  • any tsumuji loop (to try and see the timing for the st.lp)
  • TC6 or TC10 > sjc command dash > any follow up
  • AA agemen > command dash > any juggle sjc > command dash

Do you have an Arcade stick? Unfortunately I can’t exactly film my hands as I always wear a Power Glove and it covers my face.

Anyway you could try listening to my sound files which helps you hear exactly when I press the button. Screen/audio lag, as well as the low FPS of YouTube makes looking at hands probably not the best way.

I know, but even so. I learned a couple of links out of youtube videos. (Yes I have an arcade stick). Even if it doesn’t show hands, tha visual cue with the button sounds help a lot.
Anyway, I didn’t find a video (without hands) of these mentioned combos with button sound. Would you have / record them?

See if this helps you mate.

I’ll check that out. Thanks for the tip.
Just as an example, here’s why I asked for the vids:

Desk’s execution is the best. It’s so impressive it makes me laugh.
Anyway perhaps… I’ll try to include hands in my overall guide to Ibuki, which will be a video going alongside the book. The Power Glove comment was a joke about Triforce.

Lol… it would be nice to see someone with that in a tournament…hahaha
You could see in that video, that even with the lag, it is pretty clear to see the timing to link strongs or jabs, that kind of thing.
Even if you don’t include in the guide, and record a much simpler version of that combos or sjc let me know! Tks again!

I’d love to see how Desk would do in a tournament setting. Although I love watching his precise execution in training mode, I’d truly be impressed if he could pull off those combos consistently in a match. But that guy is seriously like a walking programmable controller, breaking games like a computer.

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that Triforce actually OWNS a powerglove, or that he uses it as a gimmick to give himself a “cool” image.

Desk will be at EVO 2012. He’s actually a very good player btw, but his scene is in North London which has a very (very) small community. He used to place very well back with CvS2 and did well against Umehara etc. <- second-hand information btw

Didn’t Desk go to SCR’s UMvC3 tournament?

@cris25:

I’ll try to make a video for you of BnBs + hands + noise if you want it. Whenever I get some free time, I’ll prepare one.
