Ibuki Critique Thread ver.2

It’s not that I don’t have a local scene. It’s just that people are very… quiet… when I play in arcades. I’ve only met like 2 people who are talkative and actually want friends.

Yup that’s me. I usually only talk to people if they talk to me first.

Seeing as this is the critique thread, I thought I’d post some things I noticed in your vid that I’ve had to deal with (I’m a near complete beginner too):

  • At 0:11 after you dash in, you seem to pause for a moment as if were expecting something to happen that didn’t. It’s usually a good idea to have some idea of what you want to do when you get in, and not just make it up as you go along because closer != damage.
  • I sense an over-reliance on neckbreakers starting to bloom. You’re not spamming them or anything, but starting with one is probably not a good idea and using one when your opponent is about to wake up (0:13) is going to make you eat damage against a good opponent.
  • I’d learn a basic combo that you can use when you get your opponent dizzied, because it does more damage and is a good way of slowly adding to your skillset (Personally I use TC6, which isn’t that difficult, but is effective and can end in a trip if you leave out the last HK).

If I lived closer to you I’d challenge you to a match.

@TheOnlyLite

Strange. As far as I’ve experienced, when I moved to Paris, I met most of my friends at the arcades/at local offline sessions. I’ve been to this Next Level Arcade twice and I’ve already met a lot of people.
(and it’s also nice to see Ibuki players coming to ask me for help when they see me playing xD )

Are you a hot girl or what? =D

For me, there is no such thing as a local arcade scene, but rather a community gathering in a local scene. I’m the ONLY Ibuki player there and I’ve never met another one who is inclined to learn more or as dedicated as me. forever alone

:frowning: ¯(°_o)/¯ (I know that you’re not talking to me in the first place lol)

I’m looking for hot and sexy Ibuki players. Have I come to the right [S]place[/S] thread?

Those guys don’t understand irony.

Pic’s, or gtfo.

Trolls.
I feel ya RC. I see people play, but not very seriously.

You have to be a little more pro-active, most regular people aren’t just going to walk up and talk to you, especially if you haven’t proven that you’re a decent player worth talking to. Arcades are full of a random mix of people, some of them are quiet and shy, and others are pretty extrovertive. Arcades aren’t usually full of friendly faces willing to socialize, most of them are salty about losing their quarters, and the winners are too busy winning.

Funny thing, I remember the first time we met, you talked to me quite a lot, lol.

You’re doing it wrong. You’re supposed to ask a/s/l. What, you’ve never been on AOL before?!?!

Also, this sentence brings a WHOLE new meaning to “Ibuki Matchmaking”

I’m a hot 17/F/CA. You? Maybe we should post this shit up that Ibuki Players Directory, LOL.

Can you explain this whole Otaku thing that Japanese culture seems to strongly dislike? It seems to translate to being a “nerd/geek”, which is pretty ironic, consider that as fighting game video players, we’re ALL nerds.

From Wikipedia:

In the west it has also taken on the meaning of someone obsessed with/imitating the more eccentric elements of Japanese culture.

Damascus ofc. GT: Jozhear as Vega

please let me know your GT in this thread so i know who you are

Huh, we call them weaboos down there, foreigners obsessed with Japanese culture. But if the Japanese do that stuff in Japan, wouldn’t that just mean they have a hobby?

Or does it have to be like a really WEIRD thing? Like love dolls, or tentacle porn, or buying women’s underwear from vending machines?

Nonono, I think that’s more of an extreme kind. cringe ._.

eltrouble, my friend, I think you would understand if you read a volume or two—or watch a season or two—of Genshiken. [The show is] Not my cup of tea personally, but Genshiken essentially explains what an Otaku is in the eyes of the Japanese.

Done, my GT is Damascus06, looking forward to play against you =)

Hey Joz, would you mind playing some time? I briefly met you at Evo when Gootecks introduced us. I’m not sure if you remember lol I don’t have much Vega experience other than the few times I’ve played Tatsu.
Edit: Oh wait I’ve played Chris King a few times I almost forgot. I don’t know how he’s ranked amongst Vega players though.

Before I forget, can anyone kindly give me a few tips on this chun-li match? I understand the times that I focused the hazanshou, but I was worried that he’ll use another attack to eat my focus before a lvl 2 crumple would come out. Anything other then that, I’m kinda stumped about what to do at max ranges where I can’t really do anything then maybe build meter lol.
