I need to record my replays haha. I did pretty well against some players, and lag got the best of me on some matches. -_- Also, I always get beat by Sagat D:
You coming on tonight?
Omg that set is horrible. I lost like 17 times in a row
That’s because you practice combos without realising SF isn’t about that at all. If you want me to critique, because you didn’t really want to use Ibuki, it would have to be the Makoto matches. Although there isn’t much to say other than you didn’t adapt.
I don’t know how. :\
Next time we play, try sticking with Ibuki, and don’t go for stuff like Tsumuji Loops ect. you put too much thought into what you’ll do after you get a hit, rather than actually getting it. I’ll continue to play as Makoto against you. The one thing you should have adapted to was my st.HP xx Hayate Faint xx Karakusa. That set-up hit you about 10 times in a row.
I always end up losing whether or not I adapt. The only time I really win by skill is when people online don’t know how to deal with pressure. Other than that, I either get completely destroyed, or lose just as I’m about to do something.
Well, if you watch the Makoto matches again, you’ll see me not really playing until it was the final round. There are so many things you could do to counter me. Re-watch them, and try to think what you should have done. Imagine you have a time-machine or something. Also be realistic about how good your execution/reactions really are.

Critique:
[details=Spoiler]Bad points:
-
Don’t ever Command Dash to get out of the corner unless you see me jump over you.
-
Your over-patient play for punishing fireballs allowed me to build so much meter and feel under pressured. Your zoning was so good against my Guile, why did you feel the need to be so safe this time around?
-
Not catching on to me mashing Shoryuken when you do j.Short cost you a few rounds. When you did try to bait me, you waited on the ground for so long I was able to throw you by reaction. You can delay your attacks in this situation long enough so that you will block a Reversal, but still tech if I’m mashing throw instead.
-
I could see that you tried to punish my cr.Roundhouse with Hashinsho, and juggle me with Raida when I reset myself, but you’ll have to practice this in Training Mode.
-
You cannot punish a fireball full-screen (maybe if you did a kara). Putting yourself in this position allowed me to run the clock and have the opportunity to build meter.
-
Since your execution is decent with High Jump cancelling, perhaps you could take the risk to walk into a position where you can anti-air me with Ageman. Because you weren’t walking forward, there was little you could do to stop me from jumping forward and backwards doing Tatsus right before I land.
-
You would have won some of these rounds had you not rushed the Target Combo 4 input and did less damage. You have to keep yourself in position to punish a Shoryuken as much as you can. Missing an opportunity like that is enough to lose the whole round.
-
At the very end when you got hit by that anti-air, did you not realise I was purposely chipping you with fireballs so that it would kill? Aspects like this you should notice.
Good points:
-
Umegiri.
-
Nice Hashinsho to beat my fireball.
-
Nice hit-confirms after overhead.
-
Use of cr.Fierce in ranges Ageman wouldn’t have worked.[/details]
wish u wouldve uploaded that first game where i won instead of the 2nd game where i played like shit heh heh… ggs, thx for the practice.
watching those matches again… i waited around too much, gave u too much respect. i shouldve closed that space more instaed of waiting to see what u would do.
Well we played 5 games actually. The very first you won, but you were hitting psychic EX Neckbreakers and I was mashing Jab Shoryuken instead of Fierce which made your Kunai Vortex work. You played well to beat me, but your approach was the same and it was I who needed to get used to playing Ryu after so long.
I don’t know why I uploaded the final 3, I wanted to do the final 2 games…
Thanks Izuna for this post, I’ll read it again
I learned a lot with playing against you 'cause I have, as you’ve seen, A LOT of trouble reacting to somebody putting me under pressure. I’d just mash some stupid normal to get out and then get punished. We’ll have to play a bit more if you’re willing to, I have to try more things.
I’m also definitely not used to play Ibuki mirror, which, yes, is kinda stupid, but well… I have trouble anticipating a crossup or not kunai vortex :-/
Let’s play again when we have time
And nice thread idea. I’ll upload some of my “hey guys I’m bad” replays so one of you can tell me how wrong I was
I really don’t think that was the case. I think you were… too aggressive? I’m not even sure what the correct word would be, since most of the stuff you did were kind of telegraphed and/or easily punishable. Let’s just say you were on autopilot.
Looking at the first round of the first game, can you tell me what was going on in your mind at these time points? Heck, just tell me exactly what you were thinking the whole round, that may help. I want to know why you did the things you did, what your plan(s) was, etc.
0:15 - jump back HP kunai.
0:17 - FA1
0:19 - jump
0:20 - jump again (btw, j.HP is usually not a good air-to-air normal)
0:29 - agemen (I guess this somehow punishes a whiffed dp?)
0:30 - jump
0:35 - super jump HP
0:41 - wake up ultra (btw Izuna, fancy execution there on the sps , cr.LP)
0:52 - jump
… I’m not perfect you know. Besides, this is why double-plinking > regular. At least I get something.
I know why he did the Ageman though. Happens to me all the time, he’s trying to anti-air a Shoryuken to punish. I do it to practice my CD mix-ups on opponents that whiff loads of Shoryuken.
Funny thing is, when I played with uh… Some dude at some event sometime (haha), I found out that Ageman, cr.LP was a combo. Woke me right up.
Here it is:

Sorry for the quality… Recorded it directly with the webcam. I should try with my phone next time.
0 - 3:10 : Me vs Gagapa. He was totally over me, and, except for the beginning of round 2, I feel like I did the best I could. What could you say to improve it,
3:10 - end: Me vs a good Dudley. Since I TOTALLY SUCK at this match up, the result is pretty obvious. However, I’m still looking for a way to get out of the corner, he put me there in round 2 and I couldn’t get out…
Bipson: Idk. I’m trying to learn this matchup myself. But if I had to play a Bipson in a tournament, I think I would probably switch to Ryu just to avoid the matchup. All I can say is pick U2 instead of U1 so you can punish his PC/EXPC gimmicks.
Dudley: This guy sure knows how to spam the shit out of FA. As soon as I notice my opponent being an FA whore (usually when you see them use it as a footsie) then I immediately get my neckbreaker button ready. Or you can play it safer and use TC10 but I’m used to just reaction neckbreakering, until they start to try to bait that. FA was pretty much this guy’s go-to option for footsies; none of the counterpoking or hard work that Dudley usually requires, so shutting down that option would be a good start.
Neckbreakering seems to be a good option in that case. I’ll be read next time. This time I got overtaken so early that I was immediately cornered and… You saw what happened.
By the way, I’m still pretty surprised watching Gagapa playing. The guy is ALWAYS at the perfect distance. I think you noticed it, but all my jumpins whiffed because of something like 1 millimeter, same for my pokes. I realize how important it is to perfectly know the right distance by seeing how I got kicked this time by a guy mastering it…
I usually switch to viper…even though it’s still in Bipsons favour, I find it much easier thanks to her seismos and lp tk.
I have found some useful tips against BiPson. Like you mentioned Mingo U2 is the best choice as you can heavily punish pc and ex pc with U2 if he executes from close to mid close range (the closer he is to you before pc/ex pc, the longer you need to delay the U2 timing).
Her 6 MK (overhead) is very useful in this match. It will be quite safe if you time it to hit, just as Bipson’s hurtbox is active (basically when he has risen from the knockdown). If he does ex pc, ex headpress, both will whiff completely, but if he has U2, you get hit.
You have to be really patient in the match, lame it out as much as possible , until you think you get a read that a dash in or slide would be safe, then aim for any kind of knockdown ibuki has to offer. Using 6MK often in this match really helped me a lot , it’s slow, but it really helps to switch the speed of ibuki’s attacks , in order to make her less predictable.
Damascus one tip I can give is try to stay outside Bipsons Cr HK distance. I noticed he got you a few times with that slide from far…but if you were a few steps back , you could have made that whiff and punish cr HK. It is a very tough match, but I hope what I’ve written above can help somehow. And one more thing, the devils reverse (followed by his purple hand move thingy) , you can punish with neckbreaker. Thx Mingo for that tip, I use it now, you need to react to it but will stop him from using that.
I don’t understand what your plan was against Bison. When you were both at neutral life, you were running away or trying to at least. When you were losing, you were also trying to run away? Also, tons of random dps, a random neck breaker and just a ton of lack of general matchup knowledge either way. I don’t understand why you also randomly throw out CR MK into standing MK. You also did a lot of random back/front dashes. I mean I know you can use it, but not really when you’re playing someone like him that’ll just scissor kick it on reaction. This Bison really didn’t do anything. He just stood there and you killed yourself.
Against Dudley, holy shit them crouch techs. Calm down.
Both of these matches were just those characters being played at a basic level and you playing sloppy.
