In my testing, Ibuki appears to be exactly +7 after cr.HP xx JC lp.kunai in corner. MK kazegiri (7f startup) will link, but cr.MP (8f startup) will not.
Too bad Capcom didn’t buff Ibuki’s cr.HP as well otherwise this would be a sick infinite. Actually I believe we discussed the merits of cr.HP xx JC kunai a long time ago… somewhere, in some thread.
Ok time to clarify.
The frame issue is just my frame data source (the iPhone app) breaking the line inbetween the 1’s of 11, so I read it as 1 frame for each hit and a stray “1” that i couldn’t figure out, sorry. So impossible to test +6/+7 outside of mk.kazegiri (first hit) range then?
Mingo, you’re probably testing in the corner. Midscreen the lk kazegiri whiffs two hits and the third gets blocked. But it’s not useful as you say.
However in the corner the kunai timing seems looser from nj mp.kunai than from jf lk.kunai which whiffs a lot (seems to be a one framer). Both give at best +7 (confirmed on Ryu, Akuma) and you’re in range to link st.mk, so the nj mp.kunai gives an easier yet solid corner combo.
Is that app you’re using (assuming its the same for the droid) a reliable source for frame data? Or is it just guesses and assumptions like most of the stuff floating around?
Also, does it have completed data for the 4 new characters?
Honestly I don’t know if it’s reliable. I haven’t spotted any errors myself at least. There’s a sticky on the main board about the app. It has Yun and Yang, and Evil Ryu and Oni will be available when some guide is released.
Also a crazy note about the kunai combos. To get the best frame advantage vs Juri, use hp.kunai.
New (maybe) discovery regarding cr.hp xx jc kunai combos. I feel rather stupid not thinking about this before.
If you hit hp along with the button you wish to use for kunai you can negative edge it. That means if you hit the kunai early nothing comes out so you get a crossup jump in. Quite unsafe, but much better that whiffing an air normal early in the jump which is easy to react to.
If you don’t have super and fast reactions you can also hit a lp kunai at the peak of you jump to get a xup kunai to combo should the opponent be crouching. Not safe if they are standing though.
Are there any new B&B’s for ibuki i should learn for AE? i been useing TC4 into neckbreaker for vortex and then cr.lp, cr.lp, st,mk xx neckbreaker/spin kicks i been getting sjc’s into command dash down really well now as well, so any advice on where i should take my combos now would be awesome. Thanks
Seems kind of situational, especially since you could already simply link st.LP , st.MP , st.MK, instead of target comboing. Unless spacing is a concern.
Besides the addition of TC10, only two things changed: 4f st.LK and 5f st.MK. I haven’t found a use for the faster st.LK yet except simply as a very situational poke. According to frame data you can now do cr.LK , st.LK, but you could already do cr.LK , cr.LP anyways. For st.MK, the best use imo is after an overhead so you can link st.MK (1f link) into tsumuji knockdown, without having to spend meter for EX tsumuji or whtaever.
If you really want to take your combos to the next level, you should learn tsumuji loops. At the very least you should learn TC4 , st.LP , st.MK xx neckbreaker (2f link) for that extra, easy boost in damage.
I see cool, the advanced ibuki thread covers the tsumuji loops right? is it hard to do? also whats the best way to learn the TC4 to st.lp is it a hard link? like should double tap the st.lp for a better chance of landing it? thanks for the quick reply
Plinking with select is your best option. If you can’t do it because you don’t want to rewire your stick or whatever, then double tapping would be the last resort.
If im playing on my hori stick that shouldnt be a issue as the back button is fairly close to the light punch thou i dont really wanna re wire to be honest (just yet) is it possible to simply go in training mode and spend hours learning it via muscle memory? is that possible? or does it need to be blinked / double tapped? i wanna reach my full potential with ibuki and ive been doing well in my local tournaments and such recently but i wanna take it to a higher level of play.
Depends on your affinity for 1frame links. I think my timing is decent-good, but without plinking I can only hit 1framers about 50% of the time max. You don’t have to blink or double tap if you don’t want to. But they will surely help.
I realise this isent the place to ask but how hard would it be to switch the wireing for the back/select button to the tripple punch? that way i can get it down better thanks for the help.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. There’s a back/select button on all controllers and sticks. Rewiring it would simply be putting it in a more convenient location.
