laptop style buttons and very functional. can’t even type right on another style of keyboard.

Try mapping your right Alt key to the Win key. Do you ever use right Alt? Ctrl-Esc for the Start menu, but you probably already knew that.

The older one with Sun/Mac/PS2 connectivity and membrane switches. Some of the newer ones have capacitive switches. I like the Unix layout and the compact size; keeps the mouse or trackball close to stave off the RSI.
I used to be married to the BUK-CHINNG B’KINNG CHK’KINNNG CLINNG IBM buckling-spring models (always had 'em back in the day) but have kinda gotten over it and probably won’t use one again. I think I actually type faster on a softer-touch keyboard and probably put less stress on my joints, and everyone else’s ears. Takes a while to get comfortable with when you’re used to the blunt tactile and aural feedback of buckling-spring stuff though.

I like the conventional keyboard lay-out without the numerical pad.
(At first I choose a Vol FC-780 because it is cheap but the lay-out and keys are crap.)
This way I can place the mouse closer.
I also like the mechanism under the keys.
I find the IBM Model M switches too heavy, however it is also a favourite.
I prefer straight lined edges so I can use my own wrist wrests.

For a mouse I currently have a Razer Lachesis after the switches worn out on my Razer Diamonback.
**The Razer Lachesis is crap. **
A little (dust) particle can disable that thing, that is crap, my room is pretty sterile.
An hanging mouse cursor in the middle of a StarCraft: Brood War match is not funny.
So I am going to get a Razer Diamondback again.
