I’ve been doing this a lot in the corner.

j.hk, s.lp, s.lp. c.mk xx EX Tatsu, m.tatsu

I am using this combo
cr.lk, cr.lp, TC1, Tatsu.

I choose it because:
Easy to link <<< I am noob at timing
Can hit confirm. If the opponent blocks I use LK demon slash instead

Is it ok ? I never see any other Oni player use it.So I think there are some weak points in this comboo_O

I came up with a stun mix-up that allows you to kill players if you have a full ultra meter. A variation allows you to even stun Gief and leave him with about 20 life remaining. You need to be towards a corner. On training stage, if the opponent is inside of the third box from middle, this will work. Sorry I don’t have a vid of it, but this works and pushes them way back to get into corner.

For non-high-stun characters (like ryu):
Jump HP, standing HP, LK Slash, EX-cancel to b+MP, HP, EX Tatsu, b+MP, EX Slash, LP Pound (stunned), UC2 or whatever highest damage you can do. You will actually have 1 extra meter built up if you focus level 2 and then b+MP,FP, so you can ex tatsu them into stuff, or whatever you want.

For high-stun characters (gief):
Jump HP, standing HP, LK Slash, EX-cancel to d+HP, EX Tatsu, b+MP, EX slash, b+MP, HK Slash (stunned), then UC2 or other high damage.

Obviously, vs low stun characters they have one opportunity to escape and to get the high-stun they have two opportunities to escape. If they don’t, pretty much game over.

b.MP can be followed by cr.FP. This allows for some really fun stuff vs. crouchers. To get that link, hit cr.FP as soon as his hand stops glowing from b.MP. Works very well, and it does more damage than TC2, too.

I dont know if this has been posted before but anyway ill go for it, Oni’s best jump-in combo using 2 meters is: j.hp>s.hp>slash>fadc>cr.mp>cr.hp>h.tatsu>482/810
if you’d substitute cr.mp>TC2>H.tatsu after an fadc slash it will only do about approx. 3-5 more damage and the stun would only be at around 780. this combo is also quite difficult for me atleast even after all this time I am still having a hard time adjusting to window where oni does a slash>fadc. 810 is alot of stun for a jump-in it is i think the combo that does the most stun in the game, to put that into perspective, an average character has about 1000 stun

Good shit man. The only real problem is that it’s character specific. Something like half the cast the cr.mp>cr.hpxxhk.tatsu won’t hit 3 times on. So the combo only really nets you 442 (488) damage and 760 (780) stun where the cr.mp>tc2 hits the tatsu 3 times no matter who you are comboing. Guys who fall fast are guys like viper akuma rose gen.

Fun fact: Oni’s hk.tatsu and hp.dp both hit 3 times for a total of 160 damage unscaled. If you do j.fp>st.fpxxlk.slash>fadc>cr.fpxxlk.slash>fadc>cr.fpxxhk.tatsu you get one more damage if than if you end with fp.dp. So with fp.dp it’s 548 and ending with hk.tatsu it’s 549. Anyone know why that is?

I found out what causes this. If you finish up with hp dp the scaling for low life kicks in faster with the higher damaging second hit of the hp.dp compared to the second hit of the tatsu. I didn’t try this with everyone and actually I don’t remember which character it was that this happened with but it makes sense now.

Hello everyone, I am a beginner to this game and I am thinking of maining Oni. I would like to know what is his best PunishCombos/UltraCombos and his best pokes.

I’m not going to bother with the ultra combos, but his best punish meterless would be cr.mp b.mp xx hp xx hk tatsu or lk(?) pound. You do the lk pound for untechable knockdown. b.mp hp xx hk tatsu is a great punish on its own. (any heavy or b.mp hp) xx lk slash FADC cr.mp b.mp hp xx hk tatsu/lk pound is the best one with meter, if you do this they could get stunned with a followup.

His f.hp and f.mk are great far range pokes. He has an Akuma-style cr.mk and his sweep is decent on hitbox but it’s slow. s.mp can be used to poke, as can b.mp. You can actually get b.mp hp target combo as a whiff OS and combo into tatsu on a few characters, most notably Zangief.

100% agreed with the first part. Can you elaborate on the last part? Are you saying use b+mp and tc2 will come out as an os similar to cr.mk xx fb?

Yes. Obviously this only works on standing characters, but fortunately Zangief’s walk speed is slower and all his pokes are standing.

This isn’t 100% consistent because of spacing and I don’t play Oni as my main so I would mess around with it yourself in training mode and see if I’m full of shit/how useful it is.

Hello everyone, I’m new to Oni and I’m bothered by a combo that seems very easy : cr.lk, cr.lp, TC1, …
everybody says it’s very easy but when I do forward LP, I only get the normal LP as if I didn’t press forward. I looked at my inputs and I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. Any idea ?

Target combo is back+ mp, hp

sorry I talked about the other target combo : forward+lp, mp

You’re chaining into the s.lp instead of linking it, if you do the jab too early you can’t get the target combo.

I should have taken à closer look at the frame data. With Rose I’m not used to this stuff.

Why would you do jabs after FADCs? All they do is make your damage lower. Very significantly lower.

…Very good point, just a bad habit I suppose.

Continuing to combo with a jab after defeats the purpose of using the meter to begin with. The scaling is ridiculous. If you are going to do hit confirms into lk.slash fadc then you have to make it worth your meter. I would suggest for those people who absolutely can’t get the timing down for cr.mp>tc2xxwhatever or can’t stand confirm after the fadc then just throw out a hp.dp after the fadc. For those of you who can’t get the timing down just plink cr.mp after the fadc. The only time I have problems landing this is when I do it online and even then I just have to remember to trust my timing and not my eyes.
