"I seek opponents stronger than myself." The Sakura AE/2012 Video Match-up Thread

Had a lengthy session with a friend who bodies me on a daily basis, really just posting for the first two matches, I went 0-20 that night against him but I played about as good as I ever have, especially defensively.

More casuals of my friend (Oct-Nov last year)

Edit- both were learning the characters at the time, the Sakura is moving from Gouken/other shotos, and the excuse the pound-happy Viper, he is coming from a long-time Dic/Guile… (hence the random-ass mercies)

And some time after that (just starting out Sakura in those Viper vids). With my use of Chun, I tried and help him in the footsies department.

New set with EmblemLord. There were no critiques on the last one ;_;

Edit:
I’ll just post some of my thoughts here.
[]Tiger knee is really tough to deal with. Skatan says to hit it on reaction. I couldn’t do it consistently, in training mode, even when I knew it was coming (more practice…?).
[
]Seems throwing out too many normals and badly spaced hk tatsus = dp. Should be a little more shrewd about how I use my normals and reduce hk tatsu usage and improve spacing when I do.
[]Need to stop jumping in unless it’s on reaction to a shot. Also need to recognize the distance better in order to prevent whiffed, free jump ins.
[
]Need to practice ex shou combos. I’m so used to the timing of hp shou FADC combos. I’ve been dropping ex shou combos for a while now.

Frustration doesn’t help.
If you stand outside of tiger knee range and press occasionaly, st.lp beats his TK

Hmmm, but the question becomes, what reason do you have to stand out of tiger knee range? You can’t even jump in at that range.

**Throw more fireballs. It’ll allow you to get in closer. **

Plus, jump over some of his fireballs and then sit just outside of his range. After a second or two, try a few more fireballs to get in close or get him to jump. Works every time for me.

**
I also notice you don’t frame trap. Why not? It’s a good option to keep him on his toes.

Any tips for adon. I win this half the time but i really do not know what im doing.

**
Are you kidding? You were doing pretty good.

With Adon, you can hit him with fireballs and force him to jump. At his stage, you can do your n.j MK to counter his air Jaguar kick.
Doing a n.j MK can also counter his Jaguar tooth. If you hit him with that, most Adons tend to keep their distance. At this stage, you can push them toward the corner and frame trap.

I like how you go for massive damage. Maybe you can take a look at my set with EyeLoveSF4 and see what I did, and more importantly, what NOT to do.

I was running for dear life last round and adon usually blows up my fireballs. Ill try the j.mk never tried that before. I do know slp is useless lol

I just saw your set i dont know why you are jumping on wakeup. But maybe u2 better for this matchup. I dont like your costume choice so u lose cool points there lol. U use a lot of slp pressure maybe i should do that because i dont think i do.

Maybe you can help me.
What are some good strategies to use against Vega?
**

I see you and I will have problems :@

you’ll likely be able to get a cheap 360 and a copy of Sf4 for much cheaper than a Wii-U and still get a good year and half out of it…I know it’s a brand new system and everything and that’s exciting, but I would seriously advise you to wait for all three next-gen consoles. Nintendo says at the start of every generation that 3rd party support will be much improved and key franchises will show up. What happens after about 6-9 months in? Nothing but Pokemon, Mario, Zelda and Nintendo first party titles sell on the platform. And, the Wii-U is already isolating itself with that weird controller, so don’t expect title parity between the consoles if that controller is a main focus of the platform. Not to mention the Wii-U is likely only to be a half step up of a generational gap from PS3/360. Why spend $300+bucks for a new console launch when next year MS will debut something more powerful (worried about the Kinect stuff though) and Sony will probably go powerhouse again and PSN will more than likely stay free.

btw–Japan is turning into portable country now and support behind Sony is pretty strong. The like Vita and PS3 sells well consistently over there. So yeah, I would advise everyone to wait it out, I know I am…PS3 still has some big exclusives left and more and more fighting games keep coming out. I don’t think there’s really a need for Wii-U this year. Wii just sucks so bad now Nintendo needs an HD platform on the market.

I love my PS3, but I don’t think all three platform are going do well like this gen, I’m not buying anything until like +10 million units are sold lol…

Omni…we playin today or what?

For vega u cant even chp anitiair him so you have to jump back fierce and jump toward mp beats his dive tricks. I seen some sakura do forward dash mp dp to catch vegas dive but thats a guess i think.

This is just a very bias and very misinformed rant.

 1. The Wii has still sold over 90 million Wiis worldwide.
 2. Nintendo first party games sells consoles. A lot of them.
 3. Nintendo isn’t isolating themselves with their “weird” controller. You forget that the Wii-U is backward compatible to Wii accessories. This includes the classic controller.

4)Sony and Microsoft “may” debut something more powerful. However, that won’t be any time soon.
5) Japan’s support behind Sony isn’t as strong as you would think. The Vita flopped in Japan.

The post is so full issues I don’t know where to begin. First of all, Vita has been selling horribly. It moved like 15k units last week and got outsold by the PSP. PSP for god sakes. On it’s opening week it got outsold by the 3DS (then again, 3DS had a killer line up, MH, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 etc.) I don’t want to turn this into a console thread but why are you hating on the Wii U when we know next to nothing about it? Dislike Nintendo, Wii U or whatever but don’t make up shitty excuses like ‘MS will debut something more powerful’ to justify it.

For Vega, you wanna hit him out of the air with j.mp but be careful to time this correctly otherwise you’ll get grabbed. Don’t try and play too much footsies with him because you’ll lose, his claw has pretty good priority. Alot of Vega’s like to backflip, I just walk up c.mk xxsho, st.hk and sometimes you can dash up for a throw. Experiment in training mode.

Once you knock him down, feel free rush him down because he doesn’t have any answers for your pressure. I’m pretty sure his EX flip kick has no invincibility but someone correct me on that. Oh yeah and pick U1. I can’t believe how many times I’ve caught clowns that try to roll or EX roll at me from far. Then again, I haven’t played a good Vega in a long time.

Nintendo has bad record so far in the past consoles and im sure it wont change because of the fact nintendos controller and possibly console is much different from the competition. sony and microsoft will probably have similar power when it comes to graphics while nintendo will be behind. Nintendo is finally getting the games it should have last gen.
