Donāt watch it on Netflix, this may be the only movie I recommend pirating for the simple fact that itās dubbed on Netflix, and the original voice actors sound 500% better. Find a version with subtitles, better if you can find that for rental somewhere physically (Netflix may have the disc version with Subtitles, IDK, but IW doesnāt).
This was actually not that great, and maybe 30 minutes too long.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I watch a lot of foreign movies on netflix, and this is one of the only ones Iāve seen that was dubbed. I wonder why, maybe an accident? I canāt stand dubbed films.
My thoughts exactly, but Iāve been hearing nothing but good things about this movie. Will give it a watch very soon I think, would like to know what the fuss is about and hoping itās warranted - I usually feel let down by hype.
I got I saw the Devil last weekend on dvd, so glad I didnāt find it on bluray. I will probably not ever watch this film again itās like Deliverance to me.
OK so I just watched 13 Assassins on Netflix. Absolutely loved it!
This movie had it all! Fantastic and believable acting, great camera shots, mood setting drama, and one of the longest battle sequence in movie history. About as long as the famous Helms Deep battle of LotR: The Two Towers.
Only a few things I didnāt like about this movieā¦ When one of the 13 Assassins would get hurt during a heated battle WITH 10 ENEMY SAMURAI SURROUNDING THEM, his comrade would be like āNOOOO!! ARE YOU OK?!?ā And the camera would focus on their face all dramatic while the hordes of enemy warriors just stand there watching, giving them time to mournā¦ WTF THATāS NOT BELIEVABLE!
There were several of these instancesā¦ and you would pick up on a lot of enemy samurai not swinging their sword on several good given opportunities with their enemyās back turned. Thatās just bad choreography.
Overall great movie! Definitely the best Japanese movie Iāve seen by far.
You guys should watch The Chaser itās not a revenge movie but itās a good thriller, better than I Saw The Devil.

Ok, itās Bale then. The news about a Hollywood remake were out for quite a while and I feared theyād take someone like Keanu Reeves or Tom Cruise. My buddy said they will most likely cast Will Smith for the leading role. IMAGINE!
My hopes are not very high that this remake will be any good at all compared to the original. It will probably rather suck. But Iāll give it a chance and watch it, i guess, probably even go to a cinema.
I canāt imagine there being a high demand from Western audiences for Oldboy v2.0. Even if it has Bale attached, I donāt really understand the rationale behind a Western remake with a big-named star attached, but then again, I donāt understand anything Hollywood doesā¦
