I saw the Devil

Oh shit, I thought y’all were talking about the last fight scene from The Man haha

I watched I Saw the Devil with my girlfriend this weekend. Either my worst or best move as a boyfriend (leaning towards best).

What does that mean? The best or worst as a boyfriend?

i know this is mostly korean movies and weird/thriller/action movies but i saw 2 good japanese movies couple days ago. if anybody is interrested in qualiti movies you should check them out.

13 assasins. yeah i had this on my laptob quite some time. i saw it couple days ago, and it really didnt dissapoint me at all. really good movie (imo better than any of the movies posted here so far). its pretty new but really solid. i think a lot of you might already know this movie probably.

untill the last sword is drawn. wow this was i think an old movie but also really good. only thing about it that i didnt like was the long reminissence scene by yoshimura at the end. rest was really great imo. this one is pretty old so i think theres bound to be people that know it. again, this movie imo was also better than any of the korean movies mentioned in this thread. awesome and worth a watch for those interrested and not have seen this work of quality.

list them up people, the good ones. share the goods.

Best or worst move = making my GF watch this movie. We came out of it looking like survivors of a massacre. Ended up having to watch random comedy shows for 30 minutes.

This movie has changed my view on revenge movies. I watched this movie with 5 of my friends and it kept us speechless the whole time.

Another good korean movie is A Bittersweet Life. Its a really good mix of a gangster and revenge movie. And it has the same actor as the guy in I saw the Devil (Lee Byung Hun) so thats just another plus.

It was good, an interesting take on revenge. However, there seemed to be a lot of collateral damage.

I liked this aspect of “I Saw the Devil” that too many revenge flicks tend to gloss over. I mean, at what point do we stop rooting for the protagonist and just say “okay man, that’s enough”? I liked the level of detail and planning that each character went to in order to execute their goals, and I certainly liked how so many people got involved in the battle between the main characters that you started to think to yourself, “geez, okay, you won, enough.”

The point in when he let a killer go for the sake of his own feelings, free to continue killing is the point in when shit went to far. All the other shit is a moot point. Of course it wasn’t all his fault, since he and the old man coloborated.

me and my gf prepared for some srk-recomended gorefest but we both fell asleep this movie was so dang boring. The story dragged and it was really hard to care at all about any of the main chars.
no trust srk
This movie was negative entertain

I have no idea how you think the story dragged…

They were probably talking, making out, wrestling, getting up to get stuff, texting and surfing the web while they were “watching.”

I do some of the above mentioned with my gf once in awhile and every movie we “watch” are boring…

That’s what happens when people don’t like to read.

i love subtitles
just not this movie
its ok though, our opinions can coexist.
no offense

You might, but you gf might be a different story?

I am not sure how exciting and “explosiony” you guys expected the movie to be but it was anything but boring. Of course I liked Oldboy better and that was way more slower at times.

I dont know about you guys but Korean films has been upping its game for almost a decade now…Glad its getting some recognition from you SRK folks…

Most Koreans cinema is known for their K-drama series & romantic comedies, so he are some films to check out that’s more for the guys…

Taegukgi
71 Into the Fire
The Good the Bad the Weird
Fighter of the Wind
Spin Kick
Once Upon a Time in High School (my fav)
Champion
Guns & Talk
Marathon
Friend
Thirst

Just to name a few…

You forgot Volcano High dubbed by Snoop and Method Man

Thought I’d throw this out there… Shadowless Sword. A korean Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Yes, it’s got some floating wire-fu, but I still dug it regardless.

Not being a fan of Japanese movies due to poor acting (I love anime though), I was skeptical of watching Ichi. I just gave Ichi a shot because you thought ‘Oldboy’ was “decent” and ‘The Man from Nowhere’ was “ass.” You recommended Ichi and said that it’s pretty decent so I had to see it with my own eyes. That being said, I watched Ichi with an open mind… But I almost had to close it after 5 minutes of viewing. Trying my best to be optimistic, I couldn’t take it anymore and after 15 minutes, I had to end it. Yes being dubbed (Netflix) makes any movie worse but that was not the worst part about the movie.

I naturally knew the voice acting was gonna be horrible so I didn’t take any points away from that. The choreography is like it was directed by a 15 year-old. The body and facial expressions are so fake it’s they picked random people to be cast in this movie (and majority of Japanese movies). After watching the gambling scene I could not take it anymore. This is not even bad acting, it’s far worse than that. Remember, I’m looking passed the voice acting! I’m just criticizing the facial and body expressions and believability. I’m sure the story being told is a good one, and had the acting been more believable, I would of continued watching.

I really want to watch 13 Assassins though. I heard great things about this movie. Too bad it’s not available on NF through streaming.

yeah with decent i meant good to watch once and not get iritated by it. didnt know youd find it that bad. its more like those old 80 fight flicks ala jcvd.

untill the last sword is drawn and 13 assassins are good, not decent. i think yoll like both.
