And it wouldn’t close properly. The wires wouldn’t let it rest comfortably/close properly, and if I forced it closed then whatever buttons were being disturbed would stick. Anyways, I fiddled around with the wires for a while and I finally got it to lay flat SORT of comfortably, and when I closed it it seemed fine. I may just be being paranoid, but my R2 button seems a tad stiffer than my other buttons. They also all seemed to be working perfectly…
Anyways, do I have to worry about anything, just in case it WERE closed improperly?
Like, could the wires/PCB get damaged or the button?
Do I have anything I need to worry about? Should I open it up again?
Okay, and there’s no damage that can be had to either of those components due to some pressure that might be present from putting the stick together incorrectly, right?
The stiffness seemed to be caused by the wires pushing the bottom of the buttons t the sides. Then certain buttons would stick. Once I opened it up again however, it seemed to be fine. Now, I dunno if that was forcing the buttons, but, you know… =/
That was a great idea!
I asked 3 of my relatives and 2/3 didn’t notice a difference.
Seems okay. Should I just be satisfied and leave it alone? I mean, everything works… More than anything I’m just worried if any damage could be caused down the line.
make sure that when you’re closing the top panel, all the button wiring fits into the little nooks and crannies (i.e. the holes in the black plastic). and double check the wiring for the joystick and that it fits into the side of the casing w/o sticking out (i always forget this step). as for the button stiffness… i think if you twiddle w/ the microswitch, every button turns like that. i recently removed all my buttons to wash off sum gunk on the insides, and they turned out like how you described. doesn’t affect my playing tho.
