"I NEED YOUR HALP!" - The Aigis Thread

Yeah, I figured. I’m just gonna keep messing around with knockdown oki. Chie actually does that way better in this game, lol.

Are you doing the 3 way mix up? It’s so fast and you can bait reversal with it O.o

Of course, people wouldn’t call me out for “playing the wrong game” if I didn’t. They still think I’m doing trijump pressure with Magneto, lol.

Woot  that gets so ridiculous. My friends caught on pretty quickly though, so now if they see me go up they just mash reversal or try to evade. Folks like Kanji and Mitsuru have annoying DPs so I’ll jump and wait and just be a nuisance lol. If they evade you’re fast enough to catch them starting up >.>

What combo are we doing of the jump C anyways? I’ve just been doing 5AA 5B 9C 236D into reset, sans meter. Oh, and for your lockdown stuff you wanna do, if you end an Agi combo and go straight down, you can press D to put Athena out and discourage them from pushing buttons, and then start pressuring. Don’t do it unless you really need to deactivate or don’t have a huge reward from it, a smart player will take the pause in momentum and try to break it. I’m sure there’s some good set ups off this, I just need to fiddle more.

Edit: Sorry if my notation blows, I’m new to num pad notation, and I don’t know the exact move names, just what they were in the games (agi=fire, garu=wind etc etc)

Edit edit: Another use for putting Athena out is after you do 5AAA jc j.b to reset them, you can drop it there if you need more time or don’t want to activate right then.

I don’t get what you guys mean by “tri-jump pressure”. Am I missing something in my lockdown game? Usually I just do a knockdown into Mode Change so I can start zoning/getting in with Orgia Mode ASAP. Dropping bombs out of my ass the second I’m coming down.

Um, essentially you don’t want o be actually “locking down” so much as you really want to be doing fast resets. Essentially, you want to get a knockdown with the 5AAA jc j.B combo. This will put you in their face, and you can cancel the last j.B into Orgia. From there you have a couple of main mix ups:

  1. Boost forward and do j.B as an instant overhead
  2. Sweep for a low, then boost j.B for a combo
  3. This is the tri dash, you just jump up and boost behind them while pressing j.C. This gets a really fast, really nasty cross up into a combo. It’s even nastier because if somebody is expecting that j.C, you can not do it, land, then instant overhead or sweep mix up. Then remember you can land front also -_-. That’s the tri jump pressure that is just dumb.

If you land one of those, you can do a combo into 236 D that gives you even more time to set up. People will catch on, so start boosting and then blocking to bait reversals if they seem reversal happy. You can do this until you run out of Orgia, but if you have meter and land a couple resets, they’re probably already dead lol When you have to deactivate, after 236 D just do it then call 5D to give you a bit of pressure so you can still be on them while recharging. Calling 5D after 5AAA jc j.B gives you some time too. 5D isn’t amazing by any means, but that’s it’s main use.

EDIT: I forgot to mention you need to to do the air switch thing (A+C) for the cross up j.C.

Jumping+dashing+attacking consistently. Or just holding forward in Orgia mode and pressing an attack button.

I think it’s better for us to examine players are already god mode. In this A-cho vid, there’s an Aigis that does all of what’s mentioned and more.

  • Sweeps into full combos.
  • Fullscreen cross-ups with j.B/j.C in orgia mode.
  • Chaining ABC normals and EX Gatling/Mode Change for grounded lockdown
  • j.D usage
  • 236236C super as a combo breaker
  • constant IAD j.C pressure
  • and the list goes on…

Ah okay. The Sweep -> j.B link is pretty tight. Have to look up more info on that. && Wow, looks like lab time for me. People already get frustrated on Missile jump in pressure so hopefully I can keep it going.

Now I’m having a real hard time with Shadow Lab. Her combos rip through Aigis’ ass like no other. Sometimes I just end up using my pocket Labrys since her spear can Persona Break easily, then I move on from there.

Anyone on PSN? I main Aigis also . PSN : Hokuwokk .

Is Aigis difficult to use? I haven’t touched anyone else yet except Aigis and I feel like her Challenge Mode combos are extremely difficult to land consistently.

Or maybe it’s because I need to get use to this game’s engine.

I feel that people can DP out of this even on normal block

I tried this on a Dummy who will block only the 1st hit

[j.B>j.C>5B>Orgia Boost>j.B>j.C>5B] x N =dummy blocks all hits until orgia gauge depletes

then whenever I Insert a sweep after 5B, j.B will always hit

there also seems to be a opening if 5B is Instant block

Yes

her combos?
once you realize the timing not that hard except maybe those grenade relaunch combo I haven’t landed those consistently

also you might want to skip challenge mode those aren’t that practical anyways
just watch the aigis combo tutorial the was posted by Suparnovax

Yeah, shout outs to Suparnovax for that vid.

Yeah I’m stuck on one of her challenges, I forgot which one. I know 25-30 are pretty redonk and the All Out Max -> j.A -> j.B is a tight ass link so I never bother doing it online. Mostly what I do is:

5A -> A -> C Flame Kick (whatever the fuq dat move is called) -> j.A -> j.A D Flame Kick into Orgia Pressure. Of course this is in Orgia Mode, whenever I’m not I play as much Keep Away as I can. I like her the most because technically you can change your playstyle to the way you think is better for your game, so it’s rare that two Aigis’ players are the same IMO.

Is it me or are the Aigis players on XBL almost extinct? I only played one other Aigis so far and the guy wasn’t really sure what to do with her so it wasn’t too much of a challenge. I know Mirror Matches suck donkey but it’s always fun to learn new things from others. At least Yu’s can learn since there’s like 3593453498 of them Online.

Aigis players are among the rarest breeds of opponents you will ever hope to encounter online, let alone good Aigis players, since most do not seem to know what they are doing or have any idea how the character works. This is largely due to her high learning curve and new players not wanting to put time into a character that takes a lot of practice and patience to be effective with, when they can pick someone like Yu, Chie, or Mitsu and pull off wins with less effort. And to be honest, I can’t say I blame them. Everyone wants to make themselves feel good, and what’s not to like about winning? People will play with whatever character will help them get that win, and as with all things in life, the simplest way is usually the most effective. However, I’ve found that winning is significantly more satisfying when you know you’ve worked hard for that win using your extensive knowledge of matchups and what your character is capable of.

It’s for this reason that I’ve switched from Mitsuru and have become devoted entirely to getting better with Aigis. Of course, I’ll offer advice to other Mitsuru players, since I enjoy helping players get better and naturally like the character design-wise. Gameplay-wise, she’s gotten a bit stale for me.

Yeah. Even though my Aigis’ play is somewhat braindead, this is my first ‘anime’ fighter so I’m getting used to her. I’m hoping it’ll help on the long run. I played someone today on XBL who played Aigis and had some pretty good set ups. Probably going to stalk the leader boards to look at more strategies. Usually people compliment me playing Aigis’ but there’s others that are pretty salty because they can’t deal with the zoning that well. Especially Chie players, but fuck Chie.

Still trying to get her tri-dashes down but man they’re fucking annoying.

Can someone critique my Aigis?

Okay I’ll Try
1st Match
0:49-you had a chance to deactivate orgia and you didn’t do it, managing the orgia meter is prolly most essential part in aigis gameplay

and because of that you were force in the defensive

1:00-You kept pressing up back and almost got negative penalty in the process
what you could have done is after blowing away mitsuru is summon athena and just stand behind her
this will keep her from doing 5DD(the ice whip thingy)

when she try to jump forward/airdash 2B is your answer
rolling forward is another option especially in jump-ins
you could also do j.236B(air gun special) to zone her or do the EX one for faster start-up and more area to cover as oppose to the gatling gun
but I really like that you didn’t rushdown when you got the life lead,

1:19-Should have One more cancel the super, that super is quite punishable especially for Mitsuru, she could just cout droit you there and you die
and you can get a mix-up when you cancel this

1:48-got overheated again, after the sweep you could deactivated the orgia

lastly 22B during orgia makes you overheat in exchange for a faster gauge recovery as oppose to normal overheat
22A is what you want

2nd Match
from a 5A Starter any double megido combo is not possible unless one is a EX
Neutral air teching against yu is pretty scaring, his anti-air to good ,he could reset you there
that Furious action during 1:27 was pretty obvious lol

1:50-an SB Megido combo could have killed too

well overall your combo and hitconfirms need some work
gatling gun is pretty much used only to punish bad persona summon or to troll people by wasting all of your bullets
saw some bad burst in the 1st match but that something to improve as you play the game more

in some other aigis related topic
I’m pretty much only the aigis player in the local scene right now and got 7th place on a recent tourney out 33+
lose to a Liz and Yu
oddly enough even though there alot mitsuru players I never fought one in my side of the bracket

Thanks! I’m the only Aigis in my scene too! I am having trouble fighting Chie and Kanji, although as I play them more the matchups seem to get easier.

I have a question! After a crossup j.B what is the best follow up? Like after a megido combo I turn-off orgia, then go for the crossup, but can’t seem to get a good combo after j.B. Also in Orgia mode after a Megido what should I do after a crossup j.C? Should I go start into Megido again?

j.B cross-up?
best would the 5AAA>jc>j.B>Mode Change
if dont want change mode you could use 2D to make your opponent think twice to press any buttons on wake-up

or 5AA>22B>j.C>megido if your orgia meter ain’t that low

j.C Cross up?
pretty much you can only go megido on normal hit /
on counter hit you could land then add another j.C>Megido
combos can go to

j.C>236D>5B>2B>236D
…jc>j.B>j.2B
…j.C(1)>236D
…>236CD>214A

j.C>236CD>stuffs
