heres a link to my mother board
just got my 2 gb ram sticks yesderday fron new egg. only problem is i have a built in mother board v card.i would like to know what kind of v card should i get that will play WoW at full settings. bc im not really a pc gamer but that game is prolly the highest ill go for pc. im looking to spend not more then 100$. and my power supply is 350 wats, im farly new to comps and stuff but would so idk much bout v cards yet. i would appricate very much if u guys can link me a nice v ccard i can buy from newegg.com, bc thats the only place i like to shop for pc stuff.
but then i heard from one of my friends that it requires atleast 400watts from the power supply. so i couldnt buy it. anyways thnks in advance for the help^^
1st. If your objective is to play wow any mid range video card will do the job, UNLESS you are planning to play it at a resolution of 16x10 or higher
for this you can use the Radeon HD 4850 ($150 aprox) but if you want to have a little bit more options when playing other games you can get the GTX260 (250$ aprox)
2nd. to use one of these cards you dont need a 400wts supply, what you need is 20A in the 12v rail of the power supply, If you dont have many components insider your machine (lets say 1 hd + 1 dvd drive) you can get away with a 300wts or 350wts, if not sure you can always try , the worst that could happen is that you wont be able to turn on your computer because of the lack of juice, if that happens either remove the vid card or get another PSU.
Radeon HD 4XXX is way overkill for normal settings on WoW.
Theres some good cheap corsair PSU’s for like 30-60 bucks man.
Get a 3870 or a 8000 Series, at around 80 bucks, if you want to go cheap, otherwise GTX 260 or the 4850 are great buys, but more expensive, and your processor really really sucks, heh so you will be CPU bound anyhow, so it wouldn’t matter.
Those are Good selections. It doesn’t take much to run WoW. The PSU is good, and the card will do the job. I like the 3870 as well though. It’s your choice on either. I just upgraded my comp and got a 9600 gso and it runs WoW at around 60fps with 1280x720 widescreen windowed. I’m not sure if the 3870 is better than that though. I would believe it is, but I don’t really mess with ATI nowadays.
It’s so fucking awesome that it will run on your piece of shit 350w Power Supply.
It’s of comparable performance to the Radeon 3850 (sometimes even the 3870), but uses even less power. It doesn’t even need a god damn power cable from the PSU. If you’re a Nvida man, it is maybe 5% slower than a 9600GT, but uses much less power.
The Radeon 4670 is the premier performer for low power cards.
But if you insist on upgrading your PSU anyway, you can still get it. Or in that case I recommend the Radeon 4830 for ~$35 more. But that card (and the Nvidia equivalent 9800GT) won’t work on your current PSU. And any card more powerful would be a waste on your shitty CPU.
both for one 130$ with shipping. not bad. lets see how it turns out. thnks for the help guys ill keep u guys updated. should be here around monday since i went 3 days ups shipping
34 amps on the combined 12v rails: that’s good. You can actually handle a much more power hungry card now, but the 4670 is still a fine choice. It’ll save you a little bit on the energy bills each month.
If you have the time, try running the 4670 on your old PSU. I’m certain it’ll run just fine. There’s a person who ran one on a 250w PSU.
lol if it coulda ran on my ps i wouldnt have bought the 500w lol. but then again i might buy a better v card in the future and buy another HD. but this should run wow 60fps+ on full settings im hoping. and lucky for us we dont pay light bill here lol. we just pay rent and fone
Maybe you can cancel your order and just get the 4670. Newegg is hella fast, but I don’t think it would have shipped today. Unless you have a ton of drives hooked up I am confident it will run on your current PSU.
And UPS doesn’t do week ends, so you won’t get it Monday. You’ll get it Wednesday, probably. I remembering ordering from Newegg on a Wednesday and getting it on Tuesday.
nah i think ima just let it be. having a 500w psu is always better then having a 350 lol.130$ is pretty cheap for both also. but hmm im kinda new to CPU. what is the difference of the one i have and the one u linked? is it easy to install? will my MB even let it run on it? looks pretty powerful. o and i think ups works on friday and sat just not sunday. if i remember correct i remember gettin a package on a sat but not 100% sure
CPU installation isn’t as easy as GPU. You’d want to find a guide or something.
And you’d have to check your bios version. See the site I linked.
It would be WAY faster than your current CPU. They are not even in the same league.
But it requires a little knowledge. The CPU will come with a thermal pad, so you just stick that on top of the CPU and then throw the heatsink and fan on. Sometimes they are a pain in the ass to clip on (heatsink and fan) but otherwise it’s not hard.
But you’d have to make sure your bios is up to date first. When booting, hit Delete. It should say the version somewhere. If it’s too old, you gotta upgrade it. I’m sure there’s a utility for it on the mobo site.
cool. ill see what ill do when i get the v card. bc if the v card fixes the issue then i wont really need a new cpu. if anything when i get a job ill just buy a hole new mother board 20 tim es better then the one i have^^. but thnks alot man i appricate the help. hopefully my v card gets here monday bc there shipping from NJ and im in ny so it shouldnt take to long for it to get here
ok had the v card for bout a 1 week. it improved alot but it doesnt run WoW 60fps at full settings. shouldnt it run it at that? any1 no what can be wrong?
