Hey mercs! Mjolnir here, back with a new account cause I kinda got bored of ma last one (…that and I kept forgetting the password for it lol). Finally made up my mind on a team - DP/Doom/Ammy. Lately I’ve been wondering about Deadpool’s mix-up/reset game… I got a few ideas here and there but nothing I feel that has a practical use. Any one got some tips on how I could get a good solo mix-up game with Deadpool? If anyone’s got anything with Doom’s Plasma Beam and/or Ammy’s Cold Star helping in those mix-ups/resets it’d be definitely appreciated. Keep on rockin’ dudes.
So, anyone already have a list of who Deadpool/Taskmaster rawtags work on and who they don’t? Or will I have to make one?
Because Deadpool/Taskmaster(vertical)/Hawkeye gets extra meterbuild and damage on a rawtag combo (example: 862k off a midscreen Deadpool throw, builds 1.5 meters and uses 2). Just learning the team, so I won’t have a video up for it for a little while, but it’s gonna look good, I can tell everyone already, the team is really solid.
And to ArtistFormerlyKnownAsMjolnir, Wedge is a huge huge fan of Deadpool plasma, from what I hear (from Wedge), the biggest perk, aside from being frikkin’ plasma, is Deadpool can quick work L and plasma, confirm on hit, high/low/throw on block. Derpy entrance move like Cap/Unibeam and Taskmaster/Akuma.

Deadpool team update.
I’m still running Deadpool/Taskmaster/Hawkeye, and I love it, but for unfairness’s sake, Deadpool/Vergil/Shuma is incredible! I finally decided to run it, and from a Deadpool zoning standpoint, those two assists massively outclass triple arrow and vertical arrows. That fullscreen push and vertical coverage. I also worry much less about drones-assisted rushdown with mystic ray, but triple arrow and arthur daggers assists are a bit harder to outzone. More ground L guns for sure.
The DHC out of air guns into Swords is so much chip for free, then if you include round trip, and the left/rights that come from that and then mystic ray, even if they block it the chip is threatening enough. Deadpool never has to go in at all :3.
The loss of a quick assist and Quick Work L confirm in triple arrow is a shame, but I think I can rapid slash along with quick work M/H and still keep myself safe, need to test (just started taking this team into matches). I can also fM overhead and mystic ray and save my bounce.
Vergil/Shuma is excellent, gets one or two amazing resets in addition to Vergil’s standard arsenal, and katanarama assist boosts his damage output and confirmation ability a lot. Also mystic ray and judgment cut is a really good zoning tool, in devil trigger can sometimes confirm fullscreen. Shuma Gorath…is hard. I’ll figure his neutral out eventually.
Highly recommend this team. Or the Vergil/Hawkeye or Vergil/Doom shells behind Deadpool, but Shuma’s more interesting.
I’ve found most assists give you a free combo no bounce needed off overhead. I’ve been messing around with Deadpool/Strange/Hawkeye a lot and it has a lot of lockdown and zoning.
I’ve actually been playing around with a lot of teams. Spencer/dp/Hawkeye is easy and spencer/hawkeye is already a good team.
Alright, I played and studied more Deadpool(Quickwork)/Strange(Eye)/Hawkeye(Triple Arrow)
It’s pretty solid and good as a set-up or zoning style of team.
Without the bolo glitch (which is possible), deadpool can kill most characters 900k and under off a hit. I know that doesn’t seem that great, but we have to remember a lot of our damage will come from random hits and chip damage from zoning. With the bolo glitch however you can kill 1.1 with a dhc into strange.
Eye assist really helps deadpool with counter zoning everyone elses projectiles and lets him set-up his game. It is a good tool to stop pressure as well, and I found it very helpful specifically for the magneto and dorm match-ups.
When Strange is on point and getting rush down crossover counter into quickwork is a great way to get out. But with strange on point and with hawkeye dead the team will show its biggest weakness. Unless I get the kill with strange in xf (which is what I’d probably due anyway if I got a hit) the 2 with strange on point has some problems with neutral and dhcs. However strange overs a few ways to get deadpool in so that isn’t a dealbreaker.
XF 2 is probably the most useful to use with the team since its a kill no matter who is point and second. Xf 3 deadpool maybe being the weakest of the 3, but the best on point.

Ooh, that sounds pretty fun. Also, for the record, with Deadpool/Strange, this stuff becomes an option.
So…Im really interested in the Deadpool / Zero shell…if I had to choose one character to put behind them, who would yall suggest? Im assuming im going to get the standard “Beam/Missiles, Vajra, or Jam Session”
considering I dont want to play Doom, which is better for Deadpool overall, Jam or Vajra?

I’m wanting to create at least two Deadpool teams beyond my normal one.
Currently, I still run Deadpool/Hawkeye/Strider Hiryu (meter inefficient, but fun and the latter two provide great contingency plans)
I want to run the Deadpool/Taskmaster/Hawkeye team, but I’m at a loss of what assists I should be running and how to better effectively zone with them in tandem.
I also want to run a Deadpool/xxx/Hiryu team, but I’m at a loss of who to fit in there. Dante is a no-go since I just don’t like his overall normals–I need a character who can actually put normals on the screen and has some form of anti-air/aerial combat to deal with problems 'pool cannot so Hiryu doesn’t have to be the clean up crew.
Any ideas?
Also, what exactly do you guys think is the actual, optimal Deadpool team? If one were to ditch preference and go solely for the win?
For your current team I’d run hawkeye point. Deadpool into hawkeye dhc’s are pretty bad and hawkeye makes a lot less use of just vajra than Deadpool does.
For the task team I’d probably do the same with putting task on point and I’d run Horizontal arrows and triple arrow since they serve different purposes kind of. Deadpool/Doom/Strider works obv,
You could probably run Dorm or even the Raccoon in the middle too.
I also still think that Deadpool/Doom/Ammy is probably the best team with Doom/Vergil probably being up there too.

deadpool doom ammy sounds aight but might as well play vergil at that point. you can unscale easier with ammy though so there’s that to consider (just do the same type as the nova unscales)
i think deadpool strider as a combination is too vital but doom i guess is alright too
deadpool dante strider would be ok if you could unscale with any of his assists after using bounces but it’s pretty unlikely (but who knows)
basically any team that lets deadpool unscale so he kills off touches is important, and those teams need to be able to have a bullshit function after deadpool dies. see doom/ammy thc, doom/vergil thc + dhcing to vergil, vergil+strider’s dumb teleport bs + xf anchor crap
i think the best deadpool team is flat out dp/nova/strider just as a whole package just because you got the option of doing nova’s infinite for 5 bars to just stop playing the game by doing nova+strider gimmicks if you dont’ feel confident in your unscales.
also nova and strider are really stupid anchors. also you aren’t forced to have deadpool ride or dying on point- you can bring in nova for safety and have the team operate just as well, with the option for quick work AC on defense.
Unscale is pretty good, but there is more than just that. Half the time I never use it because I’ll kill anyone with a 1-2 bars. A lot of damage will come from chip and random gun hits. However this is probably more of a choice of gameplay style.
Dp/Nova/strider doesn’t give you a strong ground game and nova/strider is kind of gimmicky.
Deadpool/Dante/Strider is the theory best Deadpool team because dante gives easy unscales, covers the proper parts of the area that wade can’t, and has good mixups all around.
Deadpool/Doom Plasma/Strider and Deadpool/Vergil/Strider are next best because the next easiest unscales imo and also anchor character bullshit.
Deadpool/Doom (Plasma/Rocks)/Taskmaster is fourth best because it just is. This team has the most results of any deadpool team in tournament and I dare you to prove otherwise.
Fifth best is Deadpool/Dante/Akuma because of unscale with jam and extreme lockdown. This is the most rushdown deadpool team.
Deadpool/Task/Hawkeye isn’t bad either i’m not sure where to place it though.
Deadpool/Task/Hawk gets a lot of rawtag opportunities to Taskmaster for a lot more meter, and has very good rushdown, but I don’t think it’s a toptier team, just solid and fun.
I still say you really undervalue how good ammy is with deadpool. Doom Is probably deadpools best friend, and wedge probably agrees with me on that.
However I think underused character that work super well with deadpool is RR
I could get into deadpool with spitfire. Also yeah i probably undervalue ammy and deadpool. just don’t see why you’d do doom/ammy over doom/strider.
Ammy goes with more characters than strider does.
I run Dp/Doom Rocks/Strider I think rocks is very good against teleporters and helps w/ Wade’s ground game.

you’ll kill them with 1/2 bars off really scaled stuff like fullscreen gun confirms, assist hits and whatnot?
i do agree that the ground game w that team is weak at the start of the match, but deadpool at the start of the round can provide just enough screen control (st.m, slide, st.h vs airborne chars) to get the shield set up, which then makes the ground game really strong. not to mention quad jumps into strider assist calls to escape.
the way i see it, the way strider’s assist works complements deadpool’s screen coverage perfectly- normally he doesn’t get much damage off it and it ultimately doesn’t do much besides annoy the opponent. but with strider, not only is he covered when he does those dangerous guns (which he is doing all the time), but he’s also potentially killing off them which is -huge- because his screen coverage is nearly fullscreen with those combined. add onto that his teleports, and nova shield being able to both unscale for him, cover his ground game/ground approaches and cover his teleports and you’ve got relatively why i believe that team is really amazing.
while ammy does work with more characters, the big thing is that deadpool/strider is an extremely proficient and strong combination that has real answers to a lot of the cast -including- top tiers, which is extremely important because normally otherwise i feel he gets completely demolished by those 3. with my team i haven’t had troubles vs morrigan or zero - only point vergil, who is a bit of a rarity anyways. and even then it’s roughly even rather than being extremely in my favor. these aren’t bad players so i wouldn’t go out of my way to state these as examples otherwise.
though that’s anecdote.
oh also you get to use katanarama l as an incoming mixup with strider assist and a meaty which is really great i guess, but i don’t really know deadpool incoming stuff so yeah
edit: the nova/strider gimmick is a gimmick they’re forced to eat regardless of their positioning and situation so it’s one of those gimmicks that is really, really good. like the doom/ammy thc. and it does force the similar kind of ‘you better not do anything or else i’m going to do it’ kinda deal, too- with the addition of having better xf and point characters as a whole.
the double usability of the unscales with nova shield is really important too (theoretically, i still don’t do the taunt ones because i don’t feel confident in reaching to press taunt button consistently timing wise)- it means you can blow your teleports with strider assist and get away with still killing them
oh also i guess off throws you do a pretty okay amount of damage (850k-900k 2 meters depending on difficulty of combo) instead of butt-squat but it’s something that’s actually bugging me a lot. i can’t figure out a better combo for it, mostly because the scaling kicks in so hard early. if i could figure out a 1mil dmg 2 bar combo off throw then it’d be aces but i got nothing
- Ammy does not go better with many or any more characters than strider does to be quite honest.
- Wtf fresh when did you start running doom rocks? I just picked up that assist for Apex lmao. You have any nasty mixups or tech with them yet? Lemme know i’m just using them as bootleg lariat/tatsu.
- You can use katanarama L as a mixup with any assists lol deadpool gets a solo combo off of it with a teleport that does fairly significant damage. Deadpool incoming is basically just keep them in the corner pinned down and wait for them to do something stupid and get hit. This is why i love doom rocks now.
What? lol nice try, but I’m pretty sure there’s a ton of better options for Deadpool than “Taskmaster anchor”. If results were even a valid argument, I made top32 at SummerJam (a stacked marvel major) with Deadpool/Hawkeye and RealPolitix (Rest in peace) made top8 somewhere one time with Deadpool/Arthur. I’d actually put the Deadpool/Arthur shell over Taskmaster anchor.
