I must mod my Dreamcast Agetec Arcade stick - Help me!

Hi guys I just got my hands on a Agetec Sega Dreamcast Arcade stick, the buttons are in rough condition since they don’t even work.

I was wondering if the SEIMITSU LS-56-01 ARCADE JOYSTICK would be compatible with it?
What wires should i get to replace the other ones which connect to the chip board?
Further, which Sanwa buttons should I place on the stick? What screw driver is needed for the faceplate?

How can I make this bad boy compatible with my ps2, ps3 and xbox 360?

Please help!

cough

where do i begin…
for circuit boards you need to get yourself one of toodles mcthulhu boards + impv2’s and a common ground xbox pad like a madcatz fightpad (best one to work with for this sort of project. Its either that or get a PS1 dualshock controller, padhack that and then buy converters to use them on the ps3/xbox
laugh is cooking up a dual modded converter if i remember right

that’s for circuits

buttons and stuff are easy enough to do as they’re just normal sanwa snap ins
as for removing the faceplate and having compatibility with the LS56, i’m not so sure since i dont’ own a green goblin but it looks like hex keys or star keys from that blurry picture

so in other words, scrap everything but the case

^Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons are not drop-in replacements. You will have to file/grind the buttons holes to 30mm. Crown buttons are the drop-in replacements since they are only 28mm diameter. As for the stick, you will have to cut away at the plastic one way or another to fit anything else in there. A torx bit will work best to remove the faceplate screws.

Gee thanks Mr. Mortified, and Scabby796, it all seems feasible now.

Here some guides I done involving the Agetech

I hope they help

I don’t mind asking any question about the agetec

Thank you very much Darksakul, these are very neat threads that correspond to my situation!

Also, should I wait for the PS360+ to come out before getting my items shipped out, or is it still a loong wait?

They say the PS360+ is out next sometime next month. Personally I wouldn’t wait as at this time there could be delays.
You can always switch to a PS360+ later on.

I ordered the parts with Akihabara, and the pre-order PCB from Canadian Joysticks.
So everything is in order, and I just need to wait.

Follow MKL’s guide at shmups carefully. This is a very time-consuming mod if you want to do a nice job, especially if you do not have a dremel. Be patient and careful, and you will get great results.

I’ll try that out too Chad, do I have to follow it completely, as I want to install a Seimitsu LS-56, isn’t the procedure a little different for that joystick?
Dremel vs Stufenbohrer?

What joystick did you use Chad?

Idaki this guide shows both JLF and Seimtsu
http://www.kowal.itcom.pl/ArcadeParts_pliki/modDCen.htm

LS-40s , LS5-s and JLF requires the least amount of physical modding to the plastic housing of the agetec.
LS-32 and JWL will require that plastic square shape to be cut out.

Thank you very much Darksakul for putting things into perspective, I guess I can get started as soon as I equip the drill.

I’ll post pictures if all goes well.

So if I was to just order a Plexi then I wouldn’t have to file down the button holes?

You’d still have to. The plexi isn’t thick enough to flush mount buttons by itself, the barrels still have to go into the casing, and they’re still 30mm.

I will keep that in mind. Thanks!

I just want to note that the Crowns are NOT drop in! They are actually 27mm, making them a bit too small for the pre-drilled holes. If you do order some, make sure to get the spacers or something to give them some more girth.
