Dude last nights changes have put EVEYONE in a happy mood. Everybody character seems legit now. It’s amazing how everybody has soooooo many team ideas now, that people are making list of 5, 6, and 7 possible teams from all of this. That’s crazy.
But alas…I just hope…that rushdown doesn’t die though. So much emphasise on defense and zoning now, it seems like it’s been forever since Ultimates announcements that people have even considered rushdown. I haven’t seen any comments on either forum talking about rushdown possiblites. But since this already is a fast paced game, and one misstake can destroy you…I guess rushdown will still have it’s merry perks.
Man … I am still waiting on RR and Nova trailers they are definitely going on a team somewhere… I only ran two teams in vanilla but this time around… damn so many options… and rushdown will never die but I must say … Dormammu,Strange,Hawkeye,Arthur and Chris look like pretty legit keep away artists this time around … Chris being able to cancel gunshots is sick.
Not sure I would say dominate but it will definitely be up there … Seriously as of the latest build if you want to keep someone out with dormammu or arthur they are going to have to work hard as hell to get in… looks like hawkeye only adds to the list of good zoning characters… I am more than hype for it… got so sick of the constant poke until you break rushdown that is/was vanilla.
i really think ppl are exaggerating keepaway for ultimate. its getting stronger, but lets face it, this is mvc3—you’re still gonna get obliterated by rushdown…A LOT.
i really use much zoning chars, but i don’t go for only spaming and keep away.
rushdown works better to me sometimes but, is nice to have other methods and more if you are giving to hulk a new charge move and bringing a new super armor character (nemesis).
btw, anyone record someting on the FC yesterday?
Maximillian is doing a series of matches and commentary, the first one is up already in the general and Vergil threads. Seems awkward to post it here 'cuz no Hawkeye in it
Again, I don’t mind people sleeping on HE. People only see him as a guy who throws a bunch of arrows, or a Taskmaster knockoff. Pff. Fine by me. Your funeral.
Continuing with the whole, keep away vs rush down conversation. I think it all depends on the team.I don’t think anchor should by keep away unless they got the life lead, so I don’t don’t think you can have a total away team.
Scumbag Eventhubs copy my write-up word for word and don’t even credit me right, grrrrrrrr.
Actually, I apologize for not having gameplay vids, none of my friends wanted to hold up the camera for an hour.
Here’s a quick thought on Hawkeye: If you don’t have the right assists and zoning mindset for Hawkeye, you’re going to be run over by rushdown characters. None of his specials push back the opponent to the other side of the screen, so without assists, you can’t keep them out forever. If you have any preconceived notions of simply filling the screen with shit, forget it, he isn’t Arthur.
Wildvine47 had a quick write-up of some umvc3 characters, he didn’t mention anything too new on hawkeye except that the super scattershot creates a minefield if it misses. Now this something I need to see for myself cause it just sounds too good to be true. Realpolitix, is this true? I mean you said the arrows come out even if hawkeye tags out(kinda like hail) but is the other part true?
I especially give credit to that. MvC3 is meant for team synergy. Every character should be about using assist to make up for the point characters faults. Hawkeye included.
That’s where Vanilla got it wrong. It shouldn’t be about 2 or 3 powerful point characters, and 1 powerful assist character on a team.
i’m just gonna throw this out. i’m speculating Stange/Hawkeye/Nova will be a powerful team. all of these characters were at one point on The Defenders, which seems appropriate considering two of these characters are currently known defensive characters. nova is supposedly a mid-ranged character, but his main power is absorbing energy projections and firing them back at his opponent—that sounds like a defensive character to me, at least against proj chars.
Only time will tell, but I don’t think sticking 3 very defensive characters together will necessarily make a good defensive team if you get what I mean. I mean I don’t see any of stranges assists really helping hawkeye out, although hawkeyes assists might really help strange out(too early to tell). But my point is sticking 3 characters of similar playstyles on one team won’t make a good team. Imagine a wesker/magneto/wolverine team, that team is only good because of the individual characters, its by no definition of the word a good team(in my opinion at least) if you get where Im coming from.
Besides its too early to really tell since we barely know anything about most assists.
Im still not sure what my team is gonna be, there are soooo many characters I played in vanilla and so many more I wanna play in ultimate that Im just so indecisive right now. Off the top I can’t think of any assists that would really boost his keep away but Im probably just not thinking hard enough.
Hawkeye sounds like a pretty bad Anchor unless you have XFC level 3 and some meter. All though he sounds primarily and Keep away guy, I think with the right assists he could have some decent mix ups, but to but he looks like he will be the second character most of the time.
