That’s just your personal opinion, some might not like the ‘jazzy’ feel of the music in 3S.
Both game’s music tend to fit the characters’ personalities and moods, though I find some of 2I’s themes are a bit better than 3S for some characters.

Yeah, considering it’s a discussion about 3 different fighting games, their graphics, music and presentation…I’d have to go with right forum. To the best of my knowledge discussions on fighting games should be filled under fighting game discussion.
Of the SF3 characters that were in 2I, these are the ones I personally like-
Ryu: 3S, can’t remember his 2I theme for the life of me
Ken: Tie ATM, I need to listen to his 2I theme to compare it with the theme he shares with Alex
Gouki: Need to listen to his 2I theme before judging sad to say
Alex: 2I theme, even though it’s quite and calm as opposed to the ‘pumping sensation’ that his 3S theme gives
Dudley: Tie, his 2I and 3S themes sound kinda similar to me and I like them both
Elena: 2I, her 3S theme is nice IMO. 3S theme could’ve gone without the lyrics, but the calmness of her 2I theme is quite beautiful
Ibuki: Hmm 2I I guess, didn’t like her 3S theme much
Necro: A bit of a tie. He shares his 3S theme with 12 and it feels more akin to Necro than 12 IMO. 2I theme has a dark mystery tone to it which somewhat fits him.
Sean: 2I, 3S theme seems more about the stage than Sean.
Oro: 2I, even though I don’t like his 2I theme that much.
Yun & Yang: While in 3S they share the same music, in 2I it had 2 versions. Still, a tie as I like them in both games.
Urien: 3S theme, though his 2I theme is nice it doesn’t fit his character.
Hugo: Tie, I find both of Hugo’s theme to be akin to their stages in the game.
Gill: 2I.
I dunno, man,
Have you ever heard the full, arranged theme of 3rd Strike Dudley?

Skip to 2:20 and tell me your dick doesn’t get ROCK HARD.
3S had really crap aesthetics. A few of the tracks are catchy but… It was pretty lame other wise. 2I and NG had great aesthetics. So this topic doesn’t shock me.
i dont listen to 3rd strike or 2i soundtracks because its all just mediocre examples of existing genres of music that are executed far better and in higher fidelity by real artists not making music for fucking video games
scrub.
this post is a god send.
It’s just too bad everybody wasted so much time discussing the actual topic at hand before you came in with this valuable piece of insight. I’m phoning Oxford right now so they can update the definition of “artist” to expressly forbid anybody who works in video games. Your posts are keeping the world as we know it from regressing to the paleolithic age, where nobody had people like you to tell them that the music they like is mediocre, poorly executed, in low fidelity, and made by fake artists. Really. Bang-up job. Keep up the good work. 110%.
Somebody better call Harry Gregson-Williams and tell him he’s not a real composer then…
3S music is far superior IMO. Many of the melodies and instrumentation choices are a lot better. However I do not dislike NG or 2I but they don’t fit 3S all that much (but are better in there with their respective games) 3S stuff is less in your face and not as distracting, a bit darker and gives an interesting spin on D’n’B. A product of the late 90’s. I dig it.
I do like the 3S music, but I just think that the first two have more standout tunes. Ryu’s 3S theme is really cool, especially the way it changes from round to round. I also dig Remy’s theme.
Nostalgia may be a factor, given that I was one of the five or six people in the world who played a lot of SF3 before 3S came out.
Well, it’s understandable some people may enjoy NG/2I’s music more than 3S. The latter has a very different feel overall from past Capcom games, while NG and 2I felt more like prettier Alpha games, very colorful and lively. This includes the music.
I just love 3S’s soundtrack the most, though. I played NG and 2I back then, and thought they looked and sounded neat but not really as memorable as Alpha 2. The very first time I played 3S though, I was blown away by everything: the character select, Jazzy NYC, Dudley’s stage, etc. There was a real tough and underground feel to the game, and that first impression never left me. I can’t ever get tired of it.
Jazzy NYC was in NG/2I, too. In fact, I think it was the only music that carried over to 3S. I can’t blame Capcom’s music team. It’s a great tune.
Yun/Yang’s theme made it to 3S too. Both songs were great in NG/2I, but they just popped out to me in 3S. I dunno how to explain it, but they didn’t seem like typical videogame tunes and that was kind of appealing.
yun/yang’s theme was the most developed in the game, right before dudley’s.
but yang’s 2nd i theme was mindblowing
Yeah, it’s really cool. Like an Easternized James Bond.
I don’t remember it being in NG. Maybe it was. But I definitely remember it being in 2I.
Crowded Street has been in every SF3, first for only Yun (as Yang existed only as an palette swap in NG) then a different version, and stage, for both twins in 2i, and finally the same for both in 3s. Jazzy Nyc has also been in all games; in NG there was two different versions for Alex and Ken, 2i had only for Alex as Ken now has his own theme and stage, and finally again like the twins, both has the same in 3s. 3s is pretty lazy in the music/stage department when you think about it.
Also Yun’s 2i theme kicks the shit out of Yang’s, both 2i and 3s.
Kill yourself.
