I heard it's hard to RC a counter move

I tried doing it with Geese but it never seems to work. Any idea why?

Because you need to GET HIT for a counter to work.

Try yamazaki’s fireball reflect. It works great until you rc it.

he’s right… the RC counter is just a way to be invincible for a bit… ie vs a wakeup dp (then throw or close s.fp hcb+mk)

heh, for yama, the rc reflect wouldn’t be too bad if u threw some fast fireballs from time to time jackass :razzy:

Uhh… you can still counter when you rc… but if they dont attack high (for example) they will go through you…

euhm, when i do it with geese… RC high counter vs wake up dp, the dp just goes right through, but i’ll test that l8r.

pretty sure everything goes through eagle’s counter if RCed though

TEST:

RC jab counter vs Blanka’s lvl 3 direct lightning…

Lightning wins, blanka goes through.

The End

p.s. Geese’s counter is shorter than RC invincibility, so RCing jab counter vs a deadly rave(which lasts much longer than a roll) means you’ll get hit.

SUMMARY OF THIS THREAD: RC counter is useless. If you just want to be invinc long enough to go through a fireball, RC a fireball of your own.

*EDIT: GEESE’S counter is useless to RC since it is a grab and not a hit. To RC something like yamazaki’s fireball reflect would be fine. Sure, it will no longer reflect fireballs, but it does have hitting frames you can hit with. Same thing with Rugal’s dark barrier, and so on, and so on.

The only “counter” move that would be of any use in an RC situation is Eagle’s Canterbury Blue, the spinny sticks move with autoguard. If there’s a character that likes to jump in after a projectile attack (Athena is a good one for that), you can be invincible through the fireball and un-invincible for them to hit you to attack out of autoguard. It’s a stretch, but so is thinking RCing a counter move would be useful.

Also, there’s absolutely no need to RC Geese’s high counter anways. The high version stops all physical special and super moves (even if they hit low first).

RCing gives you somewhere in the vicinity of 20~23 frames of invincibility, whereas the counter portion of all of Geese’s counters last 18. You’d be invincinble for the first 4 or so frames of your recovery, but that’s just stupid and pointless.

Rugals dark barrier definitely reflects fireballs. Eagles counter definitely will still work. You have to do them EARLIER because if you do it at the same time the fireball will PASS through the reflecing part. Ive had a fireball reflect from almost BEHIND rugal. GG, the fast moving special/super is passing through you when you roll.

You won’t ever catch me even trying to RC these moves.

If someone does a projectile and jumps in, then either the projectile is meaty or it is not. If it isn’t, you can roll through it. It it is meaty, might as well just block or do a reversal that has hella invincibility. Either way, RC counter/reflect does not give any advantage. With rugal, you could RC a god press for much more damage and comboness.

EDIT: Jon, stop posting before I pimp smack you. RC counter is not 1337, but rather lame.
Think about it, the only good use is to reflect when you don’t have enough time for startup. In that case, you can RC it and bounce it meaty but there’s one problem. If you RC it too late, barrier no longer reflects and you get hit from behind. It turns out that everytime it is safe to RC a barrier, it’s also safe to not RC it.

RC a counter??? were did you get that info.

to counter the move you must block the enemy moves, then you counter.

Counter: noun, 1) A special move that autoguards for a short time and them executes an attack if hit during autoguard.

counter: verb, 1) To defeat through opposition.

We are all talking about the first type of counter, noun type.

Man Al, did I ever once say it was good? Its pretty useless imo… im just sayin its possible. Might be better with rock because his recovers so fast… and isnt instant…

but rc dark barrier is a much better anti air than rc god press.

I’m a huge fan of the RC god press, anti-air or not. It’s the b&b of Rugal rc’s. If the guy jumps in with a high priority attack, or even small jumps on you, then it’s time for some gigatech pressure.

I honestly use the dark barrier as a joke. If you’re foolish enough to try charging by spamming fireballs, I’ll reflect that shit. HAHAHAHA!!
