I Have a Bone to pick with Speed 1

Oh ya I remember that the Japanese version has no freeplay option.

But where in the game does it teach you how to do a hadoken?

Hey, I want my citation for this one!

When the machine beats you, the game randomly shows the commands for one of the character’s special moves at the continue screen.

This. lol.

but yeah, I don’t think the japanese board gives instructions… does it…? I wish I could read japanese…

Zangief’s vertical jump headbutt doing usually 100% dizzy in SIIX versus doing far less in ST is a known documented regional difference between versions. The Japanese board has the high stun version of Zangief’s neutral jumping headbutts. The world version (ggpo version) and U.S. version (what most people own in the U.S.) have the headbutt doing significantly reduced stun. Start up the different regional versions in Final Burn Alpha and see for yourself. There are other documented differences between the boards, such as O.Zangief’s magic reversal running grab only working on the world version, but most of them are presentation or aesthetic differences.

Jodim and CigarBoB always go for the one hit stun headbutt on ggpo because they are used to playing on the Japanese board for example.

And now for some videos of Zangief doing one hit dizzy on various characters:

With Giefs, I can do really well against them on US/World with chun. Havn’t played the Japanese version, but I’d imagine I’d have lots of trouble… I don’t think chun has any pokes that consistently beats headbutt cleanly. I think It’s pretty much a free dizzy against chun. come to think of it… goes and watches chun vs gief videos now

This came up in HDR too. Input lag (that is, slower game reaction to input) and GGPO rollback mechanics make the game seem faster since a player has to react more quickly to compensate, despite the game’s speed actually being slower.

I think that when i get my Xbox next month, I will be on HDr a lot more than GGPO.

…I was angry when i made this thread. Other things in my life were feeding that Flame though.
When i made this thread i honestly contemplated retiring from GGPO.

…For the first time i truly could understand what Mars must be feeling like all the time.

But now that i’m cooled off and all good, i still think people should chill with the Speed 1 on GGPO.
I actually haven’t had anyone pick it since i made this thread though.

Stevetren i haven’t seen you on there in awhile.

Please tell me you’re joking.

T1 feels really slow on GGPO

I picked speed 1 before speed one was popular. then when it did become popular, I was the first to switch back to speed 2. I’m pretty hip.

HDR is complete ass compared to ST. Grandmaster is the version to go with. But GODDAMN is that game unforgiving!!

^^^ way out from left field.

The fuck?

HAHAHa that is what I was thinking…

i happen to the think that HDR’s speed is more in line with the arcade versions than ggpo is.

I thought HDR was slower.

thats what im saying. arcade is slower than ggpo, and HDR is slower than ggpo.

Sorry, I meant to say, I thought HDR was slower than arcade.

HDR is based on the japanese version of grandmaster challenge. so hdr speed 3 is japanese speed 3, which is about the same as USA speed 2. thats why there is a speed 4 in HDR, cause that is supposed to be equivalent to US 3 for those who prefer it.

Well, HDR is based on the DC ST (which is based on JP CPS2 ST except with consistent speed for every stage), except that it’s slower at every speed except T0. CPS2 ST has stage-dependent speed and most appear faster than HDR at JP T3.
