Once again man. I just lost 120 games in a ROW to some guy on GGPO. But he had to go to bed. So once again, I’m the winner. I coulda gone on for a few more hours.
Man up, treat every loss as a win!

You should kill yourself =] Then you will have Truely Given Up.
Listen to me, for I am wise and learn-ed
i think a better statement is learn from your losses, not be delusional and call it a win .:wgrin:
low self esteem
like that guy from kung pow? it will be so funny to see a “street fighter player” version of him
If you don’t want to quit, your not working(playing) hard enough. Keep it up!
Losses add character.
Wow this topic is lively.
I know how frustrating it can be trying to learn a game. The same thing happened to me when I was learning Tekken. I lost A LOT. But I discovered one very important thing. It’s important to study what your doing wrong. You can study a matchup all day but you’ll never truly understand the matchup until you analyze from the perspective of you playing that match. Have you ever thought of recording some of your matches and posting them up? Of course your gonna get some lamer who wants to talk trash about how you play but who cares, real players can help you key in on areas where you can improve and point out little things you might not have noticed. Another piece of advice is just to try and have as much fun with the game as possible. Don’t worry so much about losing and try to have fun in the matches and you might find yourself winning more matches than you think. Don’t give up bro
So true.
well I for sure as hell am not quitting cus HDR is out… and i won 1st place at a local tournament for HDR. so I’m good now .
I agree and disagree with you. Yes, most of the time top level players will use simpler combos rather than clutch combos. But in the end, they’ll still use their best combos because they’re playing the game at it’s highest level. However, GG DOES have simple gatling combos off simple pokes which don’t lead to simple damage. The awful damage modifier doesn’t help either. :wasted:
That’s good. Now you have no reason for ever making a thread like this again! ::golfclap::
Either start drinking or do pushups.
Quarter of a beer after each fight or about 10-15 pushups.
You’ll make the best of this situation yet.
Give up on deez nutz
I know how ya feel. The reason it doesn’t bother me, is because I don’t play to be the best, to win, etc. I play to have fun. I’m not the best player, but not the worst either, which is good enough for me. Sometimes I get perfects, and sometimes I get my ass whooped. Yeah, I played in the arcades back in the day, but I think I still have more playtime online than I do offline, more playtime on consoles than arcades, etc. gets ready to get flamed
Even though I played just for fun, I still learned things and what not on the way. For a long time I played as balanced characters, or whatever you would call them (like Ryu), then after trying out new characters, I realized I’m better with slow big dudes (Potemkin, Hugo, Hulk, etc.).
Playing to be the best and to win, that would stress me out. My suggestion, just play for fun, you’ll get better.
I’ve pretty much started ST since HD came out… to be honest, i think its a bit sad how people have clinged to the game so much after all these years. People have been playing the game for WAY too long, and for any newcomer it just kinda sucks realizing it. there’s way too much i dont understand about the game, and i really have no one to show me what im doing wrong/how to do something right. throws are the main thing i think. i try and do some jumpin shit and end with a nice throw, only to have my opponent throw me instead. then they jump in and are able to end in a throw.
people have disected this game TOO much. The point where individual frames come into play is really where shit needs to take a break. Yet its something thats needed just to be on a decent level of competitiveness.
I just got into the game seriously a year ago. I do not analyze individual frames, nor do I own the yoga book hyper. Everything you need can come from experience and a good sense of space and time.
See?!! Being good at Street Fighter is about magic! :bgrin:
Okay, dude dude dude, I have to explain for you here, and anyone else who feels the same way as you, because I don’t want to just be the asshole and I genuinely do want that you stick with the game.
Right now, you sound just like those dudes who send hate messages to other players online when they lose.
THAT is the attitude that stops you from improving. It’s not some motivational speaker bullshit, this the hard truth. You’re closing your mind to learning, and getting better at ANYTHING is 100% about learning. It’s no coincidence that, the higher up you look in the echelons of skill, the more you’ll find the top players are really friendly people.
You are either going to quit this game out of rage, or stick with it out of love.
I urge you to acquire a positive outlook on life. Grow it, nurture it. Learn it. It will bring you happiness and success with any endeavour you undertake, and it will most definitely bring you massive improvements in our silly little video game. I promise.
If you stick with it–and I truly hope you do–sometime down the road, you will understand what I mean and be able to laugh at yourself for this. If you stick with it, we will be your friends, and we’ll have a wonderful time. If you stay, you will enjoy yourself and the time you’ve spent, you will see yourself become much stronger, and you will ultimately have won. If you stay, we will laugh WITH you.
If you quit, if you wuss out, if you bail and throw a scream tantrum and have a good cry about it, that is when you’ve lost. That’s the only way to really lose. We will laugh not at your lack of understanding of the game itself, but at your lack of understanding of what it takes to improve yourself as a player and as a person, and your lack of understanding of life. If you go, we will laugh AT you.
I tend to consider myself a nice guy, I try very hard to be one; I want great things for you, I want you to be awesome, I want you to be all you can be… but right now, you need a solid kick in the pants and I am most definitely laughing AT you.
