AHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAH!!
Just give up and go play WOW!

Either way shut the fuck up no one cares.

Don’t you mean “sick and tried”?
The more people that are willing to actually play the game somewhat seriously the better.
Don’t get discouraged. Just keep playing.
I used to think I was hot shit at fighting games. I could beat my friends hands down, no problem. They might win if I played Blanka or Fei, you know, someone I didn’t main. However, if I played my main…well, none of them have beat my Dictator. Ever. None of them had a prayer, since I’ve been playing SF since '94 and they started playing fighters when Soul Calibur 2 came out. I always knew I wasn’t good enough to compare to people like Valle…but I thought I was at least pretty good. I didn’t even think I could place at a major, but just be good enough to give people a run for their money. I mean, I beat guys at the arcade when I was 9 or 10. So, what do you think happened? Do you think I was good? FUCK NO. The first time I hopped on GGPO I got my ass handed to me so hard I almost wanted to quit…just keep playing the people around here rather than face that embarrassment. However, I decided that I would keep playing. I decided that rather than letting that image of myself that I had fade away, I would simply mold myself into it. And you know what? I’ve gotten better. I’ve learned more about playing Dictator in the past 3 months than I have in the past 14 YEARS. Playing people who don’t give a damn, or playing the computer, will not make you better. You need to play good people. You need to get your ass handed to you. The formula looks like this:
Now, don’t just play all the time. Take a break and watch some of the others on GGPO. You’ll pick up things that way and learn to deal with tactics that you might have been clueless about. Hell, that’s how I learned moves in Tekken before they came to consoles…I watched the older guys play, and every once in a while they’d teach me some stuff. Heh, I remember one guy showed me how to play King, and his best throw chain. At my arcade’s only Tekken tournament ever, I sent him home with the same chain. Shit like that will make you want to progress. Keep at it, man. It’s a long road, but it’s worth the walk.
All jokes aside…that’s some real shit right there my dude.
This whole thread has motivated me to stop playin’ the AI at all costs. If it ain’t trainin’ mode (to try some combos), 2DF/GGPO, online (PS3) or the arcades…I ain’t fuckin’ wit it. I’m really ready to get in it with them fightin’ games…win or loss. My main goal from this point on is to just have fun, learn from others, and get nice wit mines.
Most fighting gamers play to win (or not lose).
I win to play. Thast how it is in the real world.
Play smash bros brshot
sigh
Tell you what, you should throw more in ST.
Throws are really important in this game.
Glad to hear Slevin’s still chugging on. I’d hate to lose another fellow SF player because of the “I quit” phase that people go through. No one likes losing, but it’s gonna happen.
Slevin:
Keep going man. It’s gonna be tough, but if you got “DAT HOT FIYAHHH” inside you, not only will you be good at ST, you’ll be good at anything you attempt to do in life. All the talent in the world and 50 cents will buy you a soda. If you have the determination and the heart to keep on going, then you’ll be respected a lot more than someone who just came in and started kicking ass. I’ve been there, I know what it feels like.
No homo.
I still play the AI in 3s. I just kinda use the CPU as a moving target. I usually treat the AI as a bottom-tier scrub… only difference is a scrub can learn from his mistake.
I play AI in 3S and I still lose. Typically, I can’t get passed stage 6.
it might be pointless, but i think the name of this thread should be changed…with all the people who just lurk but dont take the time to read all the pages they may become discouraged by someone giving up for the same reasons they were thinking about giving up…part of the fun to compettitive FG’s is that you lose…you keep playing and leveling up to one day beat whoever it is that is better than you.
i was extremely bad at fighting games. i quit for a while. most people bash smash bros melee, but i played that for awhile. i got somewhat good at that game. i realized, it was a great introduction to the better games that i previously quit on. i came back to street fighter. im somewhat decent in 3S but im the absolute worst in ST. for every 100 or so matches ill get one win against one worse scrub. but i keep trucking. i may still be losing, but i know im getting better. i dont feel like writing anymore so–dont quit, take losses, get good, have fun.
with all the ish thats been in fighting games lately as well as the community surrounding the genre, i dont blame the nigga quitting.
lmao!!!
look at the views and posts… then think for a second… then look at all the people posting positive things on how to improve ones game in general… then look at all the people who actually took the time to respond showing how they related to the frustration… then think really hard… i mean really really hard… then go bite your pillow some more.
like i said im gonna keep playing… and its interesting to how people can relate
Lol. Awesome. I feel the same way . I am a new player on GGPO, and the first couple of days I got my rear kicked into the dirt, and thought about just quitting and waiting for SF4.
It’s funny because I told multiple people on GGPO through chat that THEY are going to have to quit the game, because I will lose all day and keep playing them.
99% of the people on GGPO are cool, I have run across a douche… I mean… a rude person or two on there.
I got matched up against some players with a low skill level, like myself, and I actually won a couple of matches. I was so happy. I was sitting in my chair flexing my muscles talking junk… just to myself. I know it’s stupid but it fun to let loose.
The most rewarding wins I had were when someone would clean my clock for the first couple of matches, just dominate me. Then over the next couple of matches I close the gap and start getting competitive. And at the end I manage to win a match. THAT feels good. Of course then the guy switches to his main character and cleans the floor with me… but that’s okay.
I hope I can push through those ‘quitting’ moments like so many of you have.
One thing I have learned in my short time:
I practiced a 3 or 4 hit combo on Alpha1 and my friend came over to play. I couldn’t WAIT to light his butt up with them. Couldn’t do it. Against the CPU … all day.
Don’t just play ST. Maybe it isn’t your cup of tea. For example I like XvSF, but I suck, no matter what I do I can’t seem to get good at those games. Try others games, like A2
Yeah, I’m the same way with Marvel type games. Although I like them, the style of gameplay just never clicked with me. I can’t deal with all that fighting in mid-air shit lol. It’s still fun to mess around with MVC2 and the like every once and awhile though.
