I found a Marvel Vs. Capcom cabinet in the trash!

I know what you’re saying, but having such a gigantic piece of hardware that only plays one game seems like a waste to me.

But I guess it’s all up to personal preference, he could live in a mansion with a game room for all I know.

a mame conversion is a good idea though if something expensive (like the monitor) is dead. (If it is, and youre trying to stick with the CPS2 system in there already, look for a CGA to VGA converter and just use a large LCD instead)

Good find there! Welcome to one of the sweetest hobbies out there.

One thing I might recommend you do, depending on how brittle and crappy your original wiring is, It might be helpful to buy a fresh new jamma harness, and basically rip all the existing crap out and start from scratch. I had to do this when I got my cab to clean up the giant mess in the wiring from it getting converted back and forth a few times (The kick harness in my cab was spliced into the jamma harness and back out, like it had gone from 3 player -> 2 player -> 3 player -> back to 2 player or some silliness)

Another place you might want to check for more assistance is the forums at http://www.arcadecontrols.com , Huge wealth of knowledge about arcade hardware over there, and someone will likely be able to give you a better diagnosis.
Your cab and board look like in pretty good shape overall, and the fan turning on is a good sign for the CPS2 board.

if you want a shtty looking mame cab make one out of mdf dont ruin this classic arcade cab

seriously… get that shit restored to original and it will pay off more reward

Damn, OP you are one lucky kid!

man nice find… wish my luck ran that long…

badass find mate, seriously.

the thing could easily kill you if you’re poking around inside when it’s plugged in. something to remember is not to poke at it with a screwdriver, or anthing metal while it’s powered up, you can easily become the ground. another thing, if you are handling it when its powered up, you can keep one hand in your pocket that way if you do get shocked its just your hand and not going thru your chest aka dead.

be safe and have fun.

and i thought i was lucky when i found a 20 on the floor 2 years ago.

He can do what I did and start collecting CPS2 boards. They have great great games for that system, and there’s something pretty cool about having those big ass blue cartridges stacked somewhere in your house.

I’ve got:

X-Men Children of the Atom
Marvel Super Heroes
X-Men VS Street Fighter
Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter
Street Fighter Alpha
Aliens VS Predator

Naomi Board
Marvel VS Capcom 2

You can find them on ebay for 50-100. You can even upgrade to a cps3 system and run Third Strike.

Besides, ROMS are illegal, lol

if your having problemos with a cab head on over to Arcade Otaku forums , most of the old Killer Cabs team hang out there now

Wow dude! Well, you know what they say: one man’s trash is another man’s trea… wait why the heck would anyone throw it out?!!

nice find.

Finding it is one thing, moving it is another.

How did you manage it? lol

what were you doing in the trash?

I wish I knew why anyone threw it out. It was sitting at the curb on the main drag in my town at 2 AM. I then called my friend to tell him about my find and he volunteered to help me take it back to my place. At first I just thought it was going to be a gutted cabinet, but once I got closer and saw MvC marquee, I freaked out.
Anyway, the guy from Jammaboards just got back to me and said that this power supply is the one that most suits my needs. I’m gonna place an order for that and maybe another Jamma harness.

Keep us updated with pics man. You are living a dream right now!

Here, my brother and I added some more pictures. You can see some pretty obvious damage to the cabinet itself. Probably one of the reasons it was in the trash. Still treasure in my book. You can also see the text from the SFIICE cabinet.
