I was thinking of signing up for Evo. I’m pretty doubtful that I’d make it passed the 1st round, let alone win the whole thing, but I thought maybe it’d be a fun experience anyway right? I waited too long to decide so it’s not an option anymore, but there’s a local tournament coming up and I’m thinking of signing up for that one instead. It’s more expensive to enter but of course not nearly as expensive as a trip to vegas. Still, do I really want to pay 30 bucks to go hangout with a bunch of, possibly obnoxious, strangers and play [lose] 2 matches of street fighter, something I can do at home over PSN for free? At face value it sounds like a shitty way to spend 30 bucks, but I’ve never been so I can’t really say… maybe the experience IS worth the price of admission. Or maybe I should just be a spectator. I’m lead to believe there are usually casual games going on in the periphery of the main event. I’m sure I could get my game on there and save a little money all the while participating in the hype and everything.
^ I went 0-2 in every event I was in. But Evo is by far one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life.
I went to great places, great food, great games, met AMAZING people who I still talk to and consider very good friends.

Though I have heard that my Sempron might be a bottleneck and the fact that my mobo doesn’t support PCI-E 2.0 will more than halve the performance… Goddammit, argh.

now, to talk someone into riding with me to vegas for a turnaround trip for the evo finals on sunday… Can anyone just walk in to spectate, or is there a fee to watch? Well, I’m sure there’s better threads to ask in, I’ll go check there.

No need to despair! I’m not that good at most fighting games but I still enjoy watching and playing them. If I can afford to go to Evo, I plan on just hanging out and doing some casual matches.

Seriously, if you can’t take fighting games seriously enough to muster up your courage to practice up and go to EVO, why bother? I have been wanting to go to EVO ever since i heard about it, but shit just keeps gettin in the damn way. I don’t let life stop me, I WILL GO TO THE NEXT EVO. Do i think i’m going to win ANY event? Hell fucking no. Does that discourage me from going? Hell fucking no. Why? Because its about the experience and meeting other people who enjoy playing the game. I know i probably won’t take top 8, but i want to go to see how far i fair against the 1000+ people who will attend. If you aren’t passionate about it, then don’t complain when you can’t do anything in fighting games and don’t feel prepped for Evo. Not being a dick, just saying man…
