I can't get high off of video games anymore, it seems

Boom. I’ve always loved fighting games and for the longest time would play the CPU for hours on end because I had literally zero decent human competition. Of course, I would play other games too, but with the widespread advent of online gaming and easy to access human competition, my interest in other genres has all but fizzled out. My interests are at best minimally peaked only by absolute AAA rated games, and even then it’s a rarity for me to actually play them. I haven’t bought a game other than SSF4 since… SF4.

Hey Mno send em your games man I’ll give em a good home I promise.

Have you tried injecting the video games directly into your bloodstream

If it wasn’t for fighting games I would have quit video games as a whole. Although the new trend with fighting games (SFIV, Blazblue) isn’t helping at all. As long as I get one or two decent games a year then I still play video games, though.

I also have two brand new 360 games (both very high rated and recommended) that I haven’t even opened yet, and another that I have not finished. But I think Mno said it earlier: I’m getting older and games nowadays just aren’t as good.

But also, as someone else mentioned, your priorities change.

I remember when I used to play GoldenEye 64 and other games, like FF7, for hours on end. I was also much, much younger back then. I think now that I’m married and have a more-than-full-time job, video games just can’t compete with my adult life, as much as I wish that they could.

I miss the idea of video games

Maybe try turning the volume up louder and sit closer to the tv??

I went on a hiatus for a couple of years and came back. Maybe you should take a break and pick up some other interests, if you want to fall back into gaming then you will when you want to.

I suggest reading.

hunting humans. the only real rush i get anymore

This sounds to me like a most dangerous game!

Yeah, me neither. 'Smoked a whole bag of video games the other day and just felt… empty. =\

rimshot

i get high and then get off on video games

I don’t know about anyone else, but for me, I haven’t really reduced the amount of time I spend playing game (at least in relation to my spare time, which has dwindled SIGNIFICANTLY. Thanks real life.), but I’ve changed my habits drastically. I’d say 70% of my gaming time is spent with portable consoles now, with the home consoles being relegated to mainly fighting games and other multiplayer experiences. It’s not that I’m on the go a lot or anything, it’s just that I can do a lot of other things while playing a portable game, and they tend to require less of a personal investment. I can watch videos, listen to podcasts, check email, chat, etc while playing a handheld game no problem. I don’t even have to worry about reaching save points, as both major handhelds have standby modes, so I don’t have to worry about reaching a “stopping point”.
