i don’t think she’s a weak character at all
it’s just i had to put up with someone who told me she’s too weak to use on a team
and tonight i had to put up with my friends crying and whining that phoenix is so cheap and overpowered…
i picked her up because i favor the keep away style and figured this could serve as a great challenge to test my skills

it becomes a matter of either holding on until i can get that fifth bar or calling in phoenix and hoping that i can somehow stage a comeback and live long enough to see dark phoenix
Ok. After watching the vid on the front page, I’m gonna need some confirmation/clarification on something.
Phoenix teleportation is 10 frame-startup, correct? You can’t tell me that her teleport out of that situation on the front page was after ten frames. Is it possible that DPh teleport activates in less frames than Normal Phoenix teleports?

Sorry, I’ve never used the front page of SRK before. I’ve tried going to ‘Home’ on the site and it just takes me to a list of forums for the various fighting games.

as for TIS:
apparently you can do anything the frame the invincibility ends after she transforms, so instead of teleport they couldve done any special or maybe Super.
you might be right about the teleport being faster seeing as everything else is when in DPh mode.
I think it’s just because of web throw super. Every other setup posted prob would still work.

has anybody experimented with Phoenix and using Morrigan’s meter building assist? It seems like if you played a high meter building character to lead(say like Haggar), and use Morrigan’s assist you could burn some meter with your first two characters and still have 5 levels for Phoenix.
morrigan’s meter builder assist seemed great at first for phoenix
but in reality it’s crap
it leaves your point character without an offensive assist to help them out
and your surely not going to call out phoenix for an assist
How may frames of invincibility does she get on her XFC mode?I was wondering if your taking chip damage, you could XFC then teleport…
Also, If you Switch out Dark phoenix her Crossover assist(Foward + the assist button)are just beastly…testing that more today.
Pick which assist you like for phoenix more, and let that other character die… then get Jean in w/ assist in back.
Not only is DP much scarier w/ a good assist helping her, you’re also much less likely to get lamed out as Jean when you have an assist to help rush down.
No offense, but Haggar/morrigan/phoenix could possibly be the worst phoenix team ever. Yeah, haggar doesn’t use meter, but it’s absolutely imperative for him to use assists to get inside when he’s on point. He’d get absolutely wrecked by any zoning spam team.
Then you’d have squishy morrigan w/o the ability to do damage via hypers.
2nd’d. With one contention… Phoenix’s assists aren’t too bad when used very intelligently like for combos and what not. I use TK overdrive and use that assist in my B&B’s to pick people up after an OTG. Apparently it also nullifies projectiles.
I actually think trap and shot are worse almost, b/c their main use is to call her to help out w/ zoning and or rushing down, when she’s much more susceptible to random attacks/hypers.
does anyone know phoenix’s frame data because i haven’t got the book just yet?
wanted to know how safe her launcher is on block?
-3 so pretty good, but still throwable if they are close. Dark version is 0.

i just had a match online just awhile ago
where taskmaster and sentinel got destroyed quickly
and i was down to just phoenix(5 bars)they end up killing her and bam! dark phoenix
she goes wild and i go x-factor
and i tear down this players whole team as i locked them down in the corner and used a combo of her hyper and her crazy fireballs to finish the job
phoenix has to be the one character that can make a comeback seem possible
when your down 3 to 1
and if you can pull it off
there’s just a feeling of satisfaction
that makes you proud to be a phoenix user
Sorry man but… it’s not hard to merk people with level 3 Dark Phoenix. That’s kinda what she is made to do.
Now merkin a whole team with plain Jean Grey-Summers. That’s a feat worthy of respect.

using dark phoenix is like playing as some epic final boss
