This reminds me of Monster Hunter. Dying in two hits makes you really reconsider your playstyle, and instead of taking stupid risks thinking “I can take the punishment if it whiffs”, you really up your game.
Yo, so I’m thinking of running with Trish/Doom with her at 3rd. Any drawbacks with this squad you can think of?
just like in mvc2 mag storm have low health but the reward for using them wins matchs. i think phoenix will be the same as long as u can block. that bitch looks nice
That isn’t a good comparison. Mag/Storm had slightly lower health than your average character. The ultimate risk+reward was Strider. He is the second lowest when it comes to health, the ones at the total bottom were Servbot, Akuma, Roll and Bonerine. This Phoenix has servbot healthx2. But seems like she has tools that can give her the edge like ST Akuma did back in the day.
Overall though, it will be interesting to see how she will play in the hands of a good player.
So Dark Phoenix can use healing field, that’s great I’m definitely picking her up now that makes somewhat usable, can’t wait to use her now, she’s ain’t be terrible after all I definitely see top tier potential in her.
Link to the front page article RogueSquadron’s referring to if anyone was wondering:
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 fighter profiles: Bitmob’s top 3 Marvel characters
In that same article though, Seth mentions that her defense is even worse as Dark Phoenix. Wow. After seeing that Hulk video, I guess he could probably just skip the standing hard attack and just hit her with raw Gamma Crush for 100%, heh.
Honestly, I think Hulk might be able to 100% Phoenix without Hypers. Though maybe only Dark, but eventually they might dig up combos that don’t even need it for regular Phoenix.
Chip teams are going to be our biggest nightmare though(though with luck our Hyper might be able to punish Storm once we see her fly backwards), but man, I want to see what Dark can truly do. Not a single showing of her has made me feel like she was getting anything done and recently seeing that Wesker lvl3 KFC to his lvl 3 Hyper… I really wanna see all of Dark Phoenix, I think ideas are forming that are breaking my mind like they did Seths(wont you just know it, the stuff Im thinking of is probably even a few levels less than what he is XD)
So the way I see it if storm comes into the game with 4 meters and a lvl 3 x-factor u might as well kiss phoenix good bye. Although my hope is here flame hyper will have enough invinvibility to stop such childish strategies.
You can x-factor cancel to nullify any further chip damage. Whether you can teleport out of ice storm’s range out of x-factor is yet to be seen.
She says IT can’t control it.
Not I. I still don’t understand why though, even after having it explained to me lol.
Yea that was a relief to hear, hopefully with her mobility she will be able to just teleport out of range. What worries me when I read about her the most is not her lack of health, strider died from one combo and look what clockw0rk did with him, its the fact that all seth ever talks about is her dark phoenix mode. This worries because it gives the impression that using that mode is a necessity to playing her properly and the thought is a tad bit unsettling.
Oh well at this point its only a few days to release, all will be revealed shortly.
its not a necessity but if your not perfect in normal mode she’ll just die, and no she can not tele away from hail it just rapes her, so keep the horizon lit up
Phoenix Health is shit
If u want to use her just dont start the matches with her instead wait for the level bars to reach level 5 then Unleash the Phoenix and DONT GET HIT or is a bye bye
Why would Jean refer to herself as it? If it doesnt make sense it probably isnt true.
Well Seth would talk about Dark all the time as it IS her biggest trick, I don’t think anyone can deny that Dark hitting the table is going to be one of the scariest things out there. Just alone ponder how much reaching 5 bars changes the game situation, instead of playing careful and staying alive with Phoenix, suddenly the lights are on green and she gets to go insane on you with the only reprecussion is that if she makes a mistake she actually gets BETTER.
From what little we’ve seen in the footage I think regular is going to be good as well, but is likely going to be doing a lot of keep(and run)away unless the other one is a zoner. Dark is gonna be her biggest trump though.
I would still worry about her health though, from what I hear(Im not big on MVC2 know ho) Strider died to complicated combos from the top in one touch, not to B&B’s XX Hyper. Anyone with more details on what he dies to feel free to correct.
Worry about her health, as that’s the only thing I think we need to worry about. She is going to be great and should we get 5bars she is going to be terrifying. Learn to not get hit/as little damage as possible. We phoenix users will have others(you know, the ones that complain about anything, even if just a little training room time would fix it) begging for her health to be nerfed before the end of the year, count on it
Actually she is probably referring to the phoenix force itself, which could be a bit bipolar now and then. One minute its saving the galxy, the next its eating one for brunch with a side of supernova.
Well thats sad to hear, you know if she can fire back with her flaming phoenix projectile? And good to hear learning DP mode isn’t a necessity, despite my intensions to learn it anyway Im glad to hear I can base that mode as more of a back up plan in case I get hit.
@souchan: Yea I guess ill just need time to see how she works out, and your point about getting 5 bars is a very good one indeed. All of a sudden you aren’t worried about getting hit anymore since she’ll just get revived anyway. Oh well should be interesting to see how she develops with time. And about strider, yes he died from a reasonably complex combo that required to bars so no doubt he has more health than jean, but more often than not the moment he got hit he was usually dead anyway so he seemed like the best example i could give.
I think it’s going to end up being the opposite. Jean running away is asking to take chip and take it hard, I think to be successful Jean’s going to need to be laying on pressure, being tricky with teleports and generally keeping the opponent as busy as possible while holding onto those 5 bars for when the opponent finally slips in that random jab to magic series and kills her.
When I start fooling around with her I only see myself using projectiles either at the beginning of a rush (the slow homing one) or to keep them pinned should I get pushed out of range (fast direct ones) other than that I think teleports are going to be her main move to master.
Well from what I heard she refers to the Pheonix Force not being able to control DPH or something, I don’t know my memory is terrible. She says it though, you can hear it clearly. So how is it not true lol
Well from what I’ve gathered, correct me if I’m wrong, but snapbacks cannot be comboed out of. People have tried to do the launching infinite trick of MvC2 to no success- of that I’m sure. They say their attacks go right through the opponent when snapped in. It seems the only use for snapbacks is to destroy your opponent’s assists red health.
If this is true, it would be very good for Phoenix. Seeing as how that was her main hypothetical threat. You won’t have to worry about her being put on point and killed before you build 5 meters. This may or may not be true, all hearsay, so take with a grain of salt or seriously correct me if I’m wrong.
So shes saying the Phoenix cant control itself?
So why such desperation in her voice?
Nvm its no point in expanding this discussion because Jean says “I cant control it” not “it cant control it.”
