I can't control it! - The Phoenix Thread

The thing is Dph is probably gonna be on another level character wise. Jean looks good but now throw on some additional firepower in Dph. I can kinda understand why. I mean, Dph normal combos are doubled due to the fireballs firing off during her physicals, her projectile becomes a mini floating bomb, her phoenix aegis blast is bigger and fires off two, and so forth.

Just learn not to get hit with Jean.

She can teleport. She seems to have the best teleport in the game… in any case, i don’t know if she’s actually worth the risk. I mean one simple combo from ryu? She requires allot of strategy here… i think capcom should redo her a bit… probably give her atleast strider-vitality, or nurf the damage in her moves a bit. Make DP have a time limit like ouroborros or colossus’ armor and have it drain her life a bit more than it does now. Her vitality just stole the whole attention of the sentinel reveal.

Is it confirmed that she can even use it in DPh mode? Maybe she can’t.

Also this meter gain for a tag in you all are talking about, I haven’t noticed it. Is this a Phoenix only property or is it universal?

Universal. Nobody just ever thought to pay attention to air exchange.

Check within the first 40 seconds of this vid:

I get what you mean, but I wouldn’t even classify her (Dark Phoenix) as a 4th health bar. Jean Grey herself can take only one combo. Now if you feel like taking the time and saving 5 bars you can get Dark Phoenix. Who can take one combo herself. That means circumstances provided she can take 2 combos. At best she is equal to one health bar. I was just saying that figuring that up is the health decline needed? Maybe it’s due to how great the mode is keepaway-wise with every normal producing a fire-effect? Not a big deal though.
You’re right though, from what little we’ve seen, DPh seems beast when played perfectly and on offense. To bad we weren’t able to see the player actually survive long enough to do something with DPh in that vid. Would have liked to see more of her gameplay even if scripted and really dying to see her assist. She is definitely a character I’m looking forward to hopping into the lab with.

Its the same with TvC minus the fact that you lose one bar of meter of exchanges, the Height, the number of hits, and apparently use of the exchange button all seem to give a pretty ridiculous multiplier.

hahaha that would be funny…her keepaway in DPh mode is so great that Capcom was like “we better start killing this bitch.” It may be true.

EDIT: Didn’t know that Dogma, thx. It seems like the bonus meter from air exchanges is going to make people mash escape even harder. Should be great for baiting and resetting them.

Did anyone see the chip damage X-23 took form blocking her fireballs?

Her damage output is crazy.

check how much damage DP’s projectiles are on a blocking x-23, problem is that DP was tagged out she was this close to kill x-23 easily.

I like how you can theoretically keep Dark Pheonix alive as long as you want as long as you don’t get hit and you make sure to tag her out and get her health back. I get the feeling she’ll be a real force with dark pheonix assists too. Just…don’t let her get hit by any stray hailstorms. She will die.

Man, that low health is worrying. Gotta start thinking who to pair her with for keepaway to get some teleport shenanigans going. Sent maybe?

I noticed that myself. Keep in mind X-23 does heavily suffer from the Vagina Tax. That being said, she does seem to be a great Jill-of-All-Trades including damage output. Looks like you’re either going to “Succeed or Bleed” with Jeannie which is what I’m from now on going to call any team that uses her as their main focus.

^^Seems so.

Also, nobody was doing that Fireball into teleport combo?

she got quite a few hits with her fireball so it may be a BnB for damage.

My crystal ball says that in a few years DPh’s keepaway is going to be so good that you’re damn near going to have to have someone with a teleport or some awesome full screen hyper on your team to scrape out a chip damage kill.

I don’t get all this “Jean heals so fast when tagged out” stuff. She’s not healing fast, she just has less health to recover. Let’s say (for example) that characters when tagged out get 50 hitpoints back per second. If Hulk has 1000 hp, then it’s going to take him 20 seconds to go from 0 to full. If Phoenix has 400 hp, it’s only going to take her 8 seconds to go from 0 to full.

No it isn’t. Or rather it wasn’t. I just went back and checked, and in the videos without Phoenix the meter doesn’t build by 1 meter, but the ones with her in them do. I think it’s her quality.

I’m not sure if this is the current general impression, but if people are saying that you gain 1 bar of meter for every exchange is universal, this vid seems to disprove it:

At 1:25 Hsien-Ko’s team does 2 exchange combos, but it doesn’t fill up even one bar, just doing seemingly normal meter gain. Looks like it’s just teams with Phoenix on them that get this bonus.

I just took at look at both vids again and you’re right, so maybe having her on your team does have an unique advantage such as doing a couple of exchanges and you’ve got 5 bars of meter in like 5 secs, the blocking on X-23 I saw alittle more chip but did you seem the damage from the delayed fireball move I found that more impressive, I wanna see someone X-Factor with Phoenix to see what else she gets hmmm

The more vids i see of phoenix the more her health makes me shake my head. 2 hits from HSF she loses 45% health whereas 3 hits takes away barely 15% of wesker’s health? Holy Jesus
