I cannot play online

Hi I looked through the forum and there doesn’t seem to be an answer for my problem so I was wondering if I missed it or…?

I saw a few others had the same problem but so far I couldn’t tell if anyone fixed it… Basically I cannot access ‘Network Battle’ on SFIV. Whenever I choose that option it goes to the loading screen then immediately sends me back to the main menu screen and gives me the error “Lost connection to playstation network” but I remain connected to the internet. I’ve tried a bunch of different things over the past few days still gives the same error.

Tried the DNS thing, DMZ on my router, reinstalling… Anyone provide some help or any other things I could do to be able to play online?

Try restarting your Ps3 right after getting the error.

Lately i’ve been getting a similiar failure that says something about a DNS failure and after restarting it works.

What are your NAT settings?

DMZ on router so no ports are blocked at all.

Always having your PS3 standing vertically, not sitting horizontally.

Seems like freezing and other problems occur when your PS3 gets too hot, heh.

Mine is sitting horizantally over my surround receiver that has heat vents blowing up onto my ps3…never had heat or freezing problems. (Except when the game itself was freezing, ala Fallout 3)

The error doesn’t freeze my PS3 or anything, it just sends me back to the main menu so I can re-select network battle again but gives me the same error over and over. Arcade mode works fine though.

Sounds like your not signed in, or not upto date…

Are you still able to access the PSN ?

Have you updated the firmware to the latest version ?
Goto Settings/System Update and install the new FW (will take approx 10 mins…)

Also, have you tried using a different profile ? (if not try creating one, then using the new one, see if it acts and re-acts differently) - I know this sucks but it’s a possibility your game save data is corrupt, I advised to try a different profile because. 1) You cannot copy it. 2) If you deleted your data and its NOT the problem then you just lost your save data for no reason.

Are you wireless? If so use an ethernet cable. It makes a gigantic difference.

Yep, has the same problem… really frustrated sometimes. The network kicks me out randomly. And I had to re-do my CE fights all over. Some time I am at my final match and have to do the series all over again, and I got ding for disconnected. My disconnection rate is 3% now. Very annoying.

Complaining will not get us anywhere, so if anyone read this and don’t have any issue, please let us know your bandwidth, ISP, or any extra setup you are using. Thank you

Hmm, I know dragonflame has said he has tried the DNS solution, have you adorkable81 ?

If you both have tried OpenDNS and you are having problems, here’s a thought… I don’t know if this linkwill work or not but it’s worth a shot…

Otherwise goto https://www.opendns.com log in.
At the top goto dashboard then settings/advanced settings

Smart Caching works well for me
Make sure that Dynamic update is enabled.

check for anything unusual in the settings

Tried using a different profile, didn’t help.

I am signed on to PSN, its only SFIV giving me issues I play KZ2, LBP and RE5 online no prob. Definitely up to date on firmware (tried updating just a few min ago, have most up to date version) .

Don’t think my save data is corrupt but I will try deleting that and see how it goes.
