I never said you don’t know how to drive. I said we’re all terrible drivers. You already cause your-self an accident. Not saying that you did it on purpose. But, we’re not perfect when it comes to driving. I already pointed out on why we get into car accident or what causes accident. I’ll admit, I was tired from work and I didn’t have the keys to lock the store. I had to go back home and get them; after I gotten them. I had to drive back and lock the store and I almost passed out…
Also…If you’re on the highway and you see someone speeding…Move the hell out of the way. I hate it when I am driving a little faster than the speed limit (example 70MPH is the limit and I put 90+).
Overall, once the accident is over. Just move on and don’t think too much about the situation. You’ll just duplicate it because you’re too worried about it and you’re mind will go off the road and start seeing things.
I know what you mean. I’m usually a guy that gets stressed and anxious easily but these kind of things don’t really stay on me.
I was once in my aunt’s car (asian woman driving alert!) and I was talking with my cousin, in the backseat while my grandmom couldn’t stop whining about random shit to my aunt. Being the terrible driver that she was, she focused more on my grandmother’s rant than the road and somehow we ended up being on the lane facing the other direction. It was at night and suddenly, lights popped out of nowhere and I had to yell “THERE’S A CAR HERE, MOVE BACK TO OUR LANE” before she’d collide with it. Seriously, it was dumb as hell.
And then I went back minding my own business, thinking that people like her shouldn’t have the right to drive. This is why I don’t drive, I’d be dangerous.
yeah, got smashed on by a Dodge caravan. Would have died if it wherent for those air bags. Got out of the car, wasn’t phased, and was just happy to be ok. the following day, I wasn’t bothered about the fact that I could have died, but the fact that I could have been disabled for the rest of my life.
Shallow, yes, but its moments like these that you get a glimpse at who you really are.

BTW, HAV is a wise man. Although its hard not to rage because some broski in daddy’s BMW decided to pass me up, and then merge really quickly into my lane again with only about 3 inches or clearance, potentially causing a fatal accident. especially when family is in the car. You can only look out for other people so much.

I know I got lucky with a near death car accident (actually, it happened a few weeks ago).
While driving on the highway, had my gay music turned up, I was jammin’ it, living the life, doing whatever.
Was on the highway driving on the very left lane, when all of a sudden I hear a loud BANG type noise. I thought it was something on my car, but didn’t feel anything different in terms of the way I was driving. Just in case, I looked to my left and got a good view of my rear view mirror to see if anything hit the side of my car, only to catch a glimpse of another car about 8 feet in the air right in front of me, flipping to my direction. As I saw that car, I thought to myself, “well fuck, I’m dead” and I really thought that this was the end.
I don’t know or understood what happened, but the car bounced right in front of me and then bounced to the very left hand side of the highway (landing on the passing lanes). Right then and there, I quickly turned to my right (luckily it was the day time, so I was able to kind of see if there was any other cars in my lane. There was only one), passing up 3 lanes with no signal, only to stop on the passing lane on the opposite side. The only car other than me on the highway, decided to do the same, and parked about 20 feet in front of me.
The driver who was on the highway with me, got out of his vehicle, came up to me and started asking me if I was ok.
At that time, I was tripping out, all I can say was, "did you see that?! HOLY SHIT!!"
We chatted about the entire event for a good 5 minutes, but what struck us was that the vehicle that was flipping around, we notice that no one has yet to get out. That’s actually when we truly notice how bad the wreck was. The car landed upside down on a guarding rail with the driver and passenger side completely crushed. What makes this more unfortunate, is that it was one of the concrete guarding rails.
Soon after, traffic was blocked, EMS came in and asked us what happened.
We told our side of the story and then we decided to follow the EMS dude to see if the people in the vehicle were Ok. As soon as the EMS looked over the driver side, he basically changed his mood completely, and in a rude manner, told us to GTFO. To be fair, it made sense why he changed his mood, we notice that on the driver side, there was A LOT of blood dripping out into the road. We knew some people got done in.
Later that night, some buddies and I went to a bar and notice the news.
Found out that it was a family of 4 who were driving that vehicle, 2 adults and 2 kids. It was noted that the 2 adults died, however, the 2 kids are in the hospital, waiting for a report.
2 days later, I drove that same exact highway, and notice that only 2 crosses were placed behind the guarding rail (were lies a small field in-between the highway). I guess the kids made after all?
In the end, it was hard for me to feel shaken up about the event, seeing as how I was kind of concered about the the people who flipped in the vehciles. Sucks to know that there fate was… just that.
Overall, just be grateful it wasn’t you that got hurt in that wreck.
Thinking about it now, I’m sure if car didn’t take that second flip onto the railing, I would’ve wrecked as well, but worse case scenario we would’ve all been injured badly, but to a degree. At least then the other 2 might have survived.
I’m fortunate enough to be accident free in my 4-5 years of driving, but I know my time is coming especially with how the muthafuckas around here drive.
It has just started to mist outside, that was the whole stupid part. Wasnt raining, and the roads werent drench, it literally had just started to drizzle about 5 minutes before my accident and about 10 minutes from my house.
This. HAV’s posts were on point as well. There’s a lot of shitty drivers in the 206 because a lot of them are too fucking pussy to make any decision(let alone the right decison) on the road, so they end up causing accidents.
had just visited my dealer and picked up an ounce, while driving home on a busy freeway the bonet of my car flipped up and smashed into the windscreen. going 100kph with no vision I pulled over and blocked traffic from the far left lane causing heaps of cars to pile up behind me…none of them hit me though. There was this one car who rear ended another car full of beaners and they were all stressing out about how their ride is now ruined and how their parents would kill them etc…after awhile I could hear police sirens coming closer to the scene so i told everyone to chill and then waved down a tow truck in the traffic jam I had caused. got a lift to the front of my house

Not to sound like an ass, but I’m going with this, though not as harshly. From your description, it was entirely your fault. You turned when you shouldn’t have, stopped in the middle of the turn, then gassed it out of there. I’m sure it freaked you out some, it would mess with anyone, but you probably weren’t in as much danger as you think. If you had time to stop, think about it, then move again, the Explorer would have had time to see you and get his foot on the brake. An oncoming truck always appears much closer than it is when it’s moving towards you, lol. Don’t know how old you are and how much experience you have behind the wheel, but you’re going to get these with other drivers every now and then, you can’t let it rattle you. Go home, light one up and watch some Bebop.

Sounds like your the type of bad driver I hate coming across, and the reason why I and other safe, good drivers need to drive so safely in order to save people from themselves.
You misjudged the gap? You panicked and stopped your turn halfway in the lane? You floored the gas and accelerated into the store?
The whole thing was caused by you and your initial bad decision making, and made worse by your terrible handling of the situation (panicked and stopped mid turn). This is NOT how you drive properly, and you’re very fortunate that no one got hurt. Had there been an accident, not only would you have been at fault, your insurance would having to pay for the damage - you would have also been issued a citation (probably more then one) for violating traffic laws and causing the accident (from your description it sounds like there would have been multiple accidents).

No offense meant to OP, but in Los Angeles and most of LA County this shit happens all the time, probably multiple times an hour at any busy intersection.
At the end of the day, you didn’t get in an accident, so don’t overthink it.
This shit happens to everyone. You need to learn how to leave your emotion at the door especially if you’re going to work after.
