Am I correct in believing that Alpha 3 Arranged (US) is just the PS1 version of Alpha 3? I’ve noticed that the backgrounds are missing some of their animations that were dropped from the PS1 version to get the game to fit into the RAM, but were left in the Dreamcast version - for example, on Ken’s stage there should be reflections of the rippling water under the bridge.
I am sooo buying this game - I grabbed a torrent just to make sure that Capcom didn’t decide to just fuck over all the Americans and screw up the whole game, but aside from the lack of online play (Which will be in the Xbox version Capcom releases in six months just like they did with AE) I can’t see anything really wrong or missing. It’s too bad Capcom can’t put this much thought into making a new game that isn’t a Resident Evil/Onimusha sequel.
Just beat all the games including the arranges, and I am trying out all the moves for each mode. I tried out Marvel vs. mode (classical) and it is pretty good, however, I cant seem to do the push blocking. I know read somewhere that you could do it. Could someone please explain how it is done? Thanks in advance.:wgrin:
Is there an “easy select”, for picking Dan, Akuma, and M. Bison in SFA1? The strategy guide has the arcade method for choosing them. I remember in the Saturn version after you met certain criteria, I believe you had to beat cpu Akuma, Dan, M. Bison, you could just press down the the question mark to pick them, no complicated code needed.
The Alpha 3’s in this game are the arcade versions. The PS1 and DC versions had added effects. For example, the PS1 version had 3D hit sparks but the arcade doesn’t.
Quickly tap select. That’s a random select button. After a few presses the secret characters will be highlighted. When the cursor lands on who you want just select them. There is not too many characters so the chances of landing on Akuma, Dan, or Bison is high. So far I have been able to select who I want without time running out.
For those who purchased the US version of the game:
I’m pretty sure there are only two steps to unlocking Hyper SFA.
Beat SFA3. This will unlock SFA3 arrange mode (secret game 1)
Beats SFA3 arrange. This will unlock HSFA (secret game 2)
I’m also pretty sure that the alpha 2 and alpha 2 gold arrange modes are standard on the US version (i.e. you can use cammy by pressing start on bison twice and whatnot).
To be honest I wouldn’t hope on an online version, the game’s already 4.5gb, I don’t think there’ll be room for much else. As much as I’d love it I can’t see it happening.
I beat Bison in A3, then right after, I played A3upper, got to Bison, and lost. After the credits rolled, it told me that I unlocked a secret game and I ended up being able to select HSFA. So I guess you just have to reach Bison in A3upper, you don’ thave to beat him. Has anyone else noticed this or was this mentioned before and I skipped it?
EDIT: nvm, a reply at the other thread answered my question.
The game isn’t close to 4.5 gigabytes. PS2 games just have huge amounts of worthless garbage space crammed into the filesystems to fuck with pirates. At one time it made duplicating PS2 games a pretty big pain-in-the-ass, but with the advent of two-to-eight megabit cable internet service, it’s sort of become a moot point, as people can just leave all the extra garbage crammed into the iso images.
Seen. So if they wanted to they could make the file size smaller? I just realised aswell the US version should be smaller again as it’s lacking two games… Does it have extra dip settings in A2 and A2G?
Red S-Ism characters have their A-Ism move sets, there was a few instances I thought I’d found new moves which turned out to be in A. I think it’s goot though because it gives you a chance to use A-Characters in a normal mode. I like quite a few A-Character’s move sets which I suck with in A-Ism, it’s nice to have the other touches and all supers.
Yea, you actually don’t have to beat him in either version. I just wanted to let the US users know that you don’t have to beat any of the games besides A3 and A3upper to unlock Hyper. Also, A2upper and A2Gupper are standard (being that tha “arrange” madoes in the japanese versions are the US version…i think)
