Hyper Street Fighter II: How to chose old characters

Hey guys

So I’m trying to figure out how to chose old characters in the game.

I hold Start -> Select SuperT -> Let Go -> Select Sagat and it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried this on the Anniversary Collection on the Xbox and both MAME versions. No go.

Anyone here know how to do it correctly?
Thanks.

That is not the way to choose “old” characters in Hyper SF2. The original old characters from ST are chosen by selecting the “Super” version of the character instead of “SuperT.”

The trick that exists in the game allows you to access the original ST version of those characters. The ones that would benefit from this trick are those that could store their moves in that game.

It works for both the emulated game as well as the console version in case you were also wondering.

That’s weird.

How come even in the wiki I read

“-Holding start when selecting Super Turbo or Super seems to allow access to the original arcade versions of each character.”

http://shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Super_Street_Fighter_2_Turbo

"How to pick Old Characters:

Hold down Start, Select SuperT mode, release Start and pick character.

"-Holding start when selecting Super or Super Turbo mode brings out the original arcade version of that character. Notable examples are Chun Li and Honda who cannot store their supers and Ochio Throw (Honda only) without choosing them this way."

Why would they write that… I find it strange :s.

Thanks for replying.

You’re confusing me. For the ORIGINAL Super Turbo, you must enter a code to select old characters. For Hyper SF2, you choose your type of character before choosing the actual character.

EDIT: I learnt something new, but nobody plays this game due to the CPS-1 chains

Hold start when you choose the “Super” option; you will hear a small chirp as a confirmation of your selection instead of the usual noise. Then pick your character. During gameplay, your character’s logo will be the ST logo (rather than the SSF2 logo or the ST meter).

hey deadfrog

I’ll try that out once I get back home tonight.

Appreciate the help.

Will post back to confirm

I also didn’t know about that option, and was about to come say something clever in light of what I thought was a dumb question.

I still don’t see the point, why not just press Super to begin with? Is there really any kind of advantage given?

I know it’s on page 2, but goddamn, this was talked about like a week ago already.

Great it works.

On Xbox AE version you have to hold “BACK” instead of START.
