Yeah, Capcom messed up. Seems to be very inconsistent.

what’s even more mindboggling is the number of people insisting it DOES work…
Hmmmm today i found out akuma can use his teleport move in this game. I was just training and i suddenly did his teleport move by accident:wow: I was like o_O its not even listed in the strategy guide so yea i was wondering if you ppl knew this already. >_>
Yeah, he can also do some kinda nifty cross up combos with it. For instance, from a full screen away, throw a lp air fireball, teleport behind them, crouching forward xx hurricane kick juggle into uppercut. There are a lot of variations on that theme.
ooooo interesting…
Okay, just got the game, need to know a few things…
1- Which would any of you say is Ryu’s best version?
2- Do you select ST OG characters the same way you do in ST?
3- Any good anti-ST Vega stats?
Turbo Ryu and Super Turbo Ryu.
No. Just go to SSF2 mode, hold start and select SSF2 mode. You’ll be able to use the ST OG characters.
I’ll assume you’re using Ryu.
It’s a really hard matchup. You can’t really throw fireballs in this match, even when you’ve got him in the corner. So play foot games. Low short can beat a lot of his poking and slides except for standing fierce and maybe stand forward(?) but you can’t just jam on it. You really have to anticipate and read your opponent. Jump strong is a good counter to his wall dives. Just try and back him up with low short whenever he tries to poke/slide at you. When in doubt about his poking just block and watch for walk-up throws.
Thanks alot, dogberry. I will keep all of this in mind.
Get ready Vega scrubs. :badboy:
Old (Super) Sagat’s c.lk I hear is supposed to be cancellable on the second hit, but I can’t get it to cancel for the life of me. I can cancel it on the first hit, but never the second
Anybody?
honda can walk while doing hundred hand slap in turbo. does that make him any better than the rest of the versions?
err is there a difference using st og characters and ssf2 chars?
I’ll answer the Sagat question and the ssf2 question (sort of) since I’m not really big on Honda.
Old Sagat can 2-in-1 off of the 1st and 2nd hits of his stand short and stand forward. If you’re having trouble cancelling it, all I can suggest is just practice. Just make sure you get the special motion out as soon as the 2nd hit connects.
There are differences between SSF2 characters and the ST OG characters. Off-hand I can only think of a few though.
SSF2 characters could re-dizzy. I don’t think the ST Old characters can.
Sagat: OG Sagat can buffer off of the 1st and 2nd hits of stand short and stand forward. SSF2 sagat can’t do this iirc.
Some other OG characters get new bufferable moves that their SSF2 characters didn’t have. Also some of the hitboxes on some characters were changed.
Ah… I just found out that I was picking SSF2 Sagat rather than holding start and picking Super for OG Sagat ^_^. Thanks!
Works same as in regular ST. Also works with Honda’s super.
I thought they took out the charge storing from the AE version of the character and that the “original ST” code was needed to bring charge storing (and ochio storing) back
Personally I think Champ. Bison Owns. He has a 3 hit dizzy, a 7 hit re-dizzy, and does excellent damage and he’s fast. I don’t see how he isn’t the best. If any character should be banned, its him. Champ. Chun Li is also hella good/cheap.
Did u know u can do the Balrog rush with kick after jumping toward an opponent?? It appears the charge time with kick is less than the one with punch. U can jump in (charge) hitem, then do the Balrog rush with k, right away. P won’t work. Ha! Oh yeah, its also a 2 hit dizzy on most characters! And u can land a mp afterwards if your good enough.
I didn’t know this back in the day, but u can link a lot of shit with the WW, CE, and T characters. For instance, Balrog, I did a 3 hit combo with 3 standing medium punches…insane! Bison, oh god don’t get me started; dmp/dmp, dmp/hk, dmp/jab/hk, then u can connect a lot of them into scissor kick combos, and combo after the sissor kick!$^!%&!@! Insane. d = ducking or down for newbies btw. Heres some more; Zangief, Cross Up splash, dj/dj/dj/lk/sweep. Thats a Dizzy. Cross up Splash, dj/mp/hp!! Thats a dizzy! That shit combos and does mega damage if your WW or CE Zangief, but combo works with all Zangiefs. There’s so many others, its too much time to type.
I haven’t even tried all the characters yet. I Love this game! My only complaints are what most have already stated, only fight against ST CPU, can’t pick stages in versus mode, button config. etc. U think capcom would think about these things. Oh yeah, Champ Eidtion Bison should have an asterik by it, cause he’s been slightly edited. In the REAL Champion Edition, Bisons Topedo when blocked hit up to 6 or 7 times, and just took off CHUNKS of power. You only get 3 to 4 here. They took that out, and proabably for good reason. That shit was hella cheap, but never the less, I still miss it and wish it was in the game. Its probably better to get hit by it than to block it!!
anyways, SFAE ROckS!
really? why? i was always under the impression that she got better in HF, and that HF and ST are the best versions…
Sorry your right. I meant to say ST Chun.
Sorry for bumping this old ass thread. But I didn’t want someone to redirect me back to this thread if I made a new one.
Anyway, is it true the best version of Ken is CE?
