Hurricane Kick safe?

New to 3S Akuma, figured out alot of stuff but still wondering about his tatsu-maki. Is the mk version safe on block? I generally use lk after a hit-confirm to go into fp SRK. Thanks.

It’s safe on block against most characters that don’t have a super bar stocked. Be careful not to abuse this on Hugo though, since he can 360 you when you land.

You gotta be aware of a lot of factors to minimize the risk of your tatsumakis.

Rh tatsumaki is -5 on block
Mk tatsumaki is -8 on block!!!

I’m pretty sure that means almost every character could at least punish with throw.

The thing is, tatsumaki pushes back most characters out of throw range, even done point blank. Urien pretty much can’t do anything because of this.

However, many characters can duck under rh/mk tatsumaki, which makes punishing the move pretty trivial.

So in short…sort of…but not really.

Good players will red parry the end of your tatsu or blue the second one if you’re spamming it. Though against a low-mid level Urien RH tatsu mash is basically an infinite lol

It’s pretty safe against characters who can’t duck it. Even if they are good you can mix between the mk and hk version to mess up their parry timings. It’s not the best offense because it doesn’t generate much damage but it is good for meter build.

So in other words, just spam Tatsu? :stuck_out_tongue:

Just look at JR raping psn scrubs just by doing c.mk xx tatsu and s.hp xx df kick (looped with c.mk xx tatsu). It probably means it works since he wins most of his matches without doing any more fancy stuff.
At higher levels it probably isn’t so safe tho, but 95% of the people won’t punish you for doing it.

In the right matchups absolutely (or at least until the opponent shows he can deal with it). However there are matchups where tatsu spam gets you killed. Chun and Elena in particular.

HK-Tatsu spam is deadly vs urien. I don’t think he can punish or stop it with anything other than parry-counter. Or am I mistaken (what can he do to stop it?)?
