Hulk = great green gamma crushing god… …people should talk about him. Besides… he’s kinda under explored/under appreciated… I’d much rather talk bout him than the same old crap o’ the gods.
Hulk is the man, just for how he can whip Storm’s ass, and clobbers shitty Cable players. Although Sentinel is still a problem. One god damn rocket punch and I lose 3/4 of my health
But yeah Hulk is a beast.
Between the stuff Titan Deathfist and Shifty have found in all of these threads he has way more flexibility than people know about. Hulk is also the best Assist Killer is the game I have seen thus far.
Sent you take care of when he is an assist… using gamma crush… if they start sent I simply wouldn’t start hulk if you can help it. If you have to… you can punish certain things… block a rocket punch… gamma charge xx wtver…
If he doesn’t have capcom with him… and yer hulk… you can super jump high and fwd… at the peak of your jump hold fwd and hit fierce punch… you should come down in his grill starting a combo with your nice long reach, high priority lk…
If he tries to fly… you can a.) if hes fairly low and stomping… gamma quake… pretty clean. b.) if he’s flying higher… just gamma charge under him to cross up and gamma crush.
I greatly prefer to just gamma crush his ass while he’s an assist…

Yeah I don’t run across to many point Sents but this should help me alot when I do. I just love Hulk as point it gives me so many assist punishing options.

Hulk has more than one assist punishing loop that will MAKE your opp stop you from killing their assist off… very similar in effect to rogues assist punish loop… though not operated the same way.
Honestly I could rom with mags, 100% with IM, and own with sent years ago… but as of today… hulk is my meanest character… he’s to good in some ways.
Someone… call assists against my hulk… without mando… do it… try it…lol Granted its annoying b/c mando is the most commonly selected assist… but he’s also nearly the only thing that will get your assist out of gamma crush if timed right.
Messed around with Thanos Hulk and Ken. You were right that team is dirty.
Yea that’s my low tier squad… lately I’ve found ryu to be just as sick with thanos as ken… so I been playing him instead…
That old thanos vid I put has the BEST ken n thanos reset… n based on how the react plenty of mixup options present.
I’m sad tho… with mvc3 coming… I may never find motivation to finish my thanos vid… major shame…

ryu has the shin-shoryuken instead… I used to think it was completely not worth it… but lately I’ve found that either a.) doing it to an assist… to kill it off near instantly… (it does like 120 dmg to assists) b.) reset into it for a combo that kills point instantly or nearly…
b is… launch… sj.lp, pause, sj.lk, sj.mp (both hits) hold back while you do this… you’ll land crossup at the last sec… immediate SSR… it has invincible startup… and suction properties on any assist so that if they mash an assist here… you’ll get both point and assist. If they block the cross up it sux because you blew 3 bars tho… i did this the other day… catching a guys magnus who was at 75% life and his psyloche assist who was at 80%+ and it killed em both instantly…lol
you can just launch out of that cross up as well… instead of SSR… i used it with thanos bubble… so its…
launch, sj.lp, pause, sj.lk, sj.mp (both hits) + hold back, land, call thanos + launch… sj.lp, sj.mp (both hits), s.fp (knocks them down into the bubble), land dash fwd, launch, sj.magic series xx sj.shinku-hadoken…
That series is single reset kill on a lot of people… 90% on sent… also for the reset… if they are block the crossup… you can do land, walk under, launch (trixy double x-up.)
Also anytime you can end an air combo with tatsu you’ll get the flying screen/auto dash right onto em while they down effect… perfect time for classic ryu mixup of…
low attack+assist…
fp throw into assist…
standing overhead+assist…
Also important to remember while ryu’s hadokens seem to recover slow… its actually variable… if the hadoken hits another projectile on the way… you can immediately hadoken again. Apart from easily out fireballing megaman… against projectiles you can do stuff like… opp shoots something… ryu hadoken… pause while the fireballs collide… hadoken xx shinku-hadoken… (this works on people like sent doing drones… b/c it takes em to long to recover. Works against a shitload of other stuff also…)
Ghetto tech… anyone with a good fast dp style move can do this but I started doing it with ryu… b/c he needed it…lol Pushblock any fwd moving attack and immediately dp… pushblock seems like it lasts forever… but it actually works in “ticks” and you can prebuffer a move to come out after a tick of pushblocking. lp dp is perfect b/c of it’s invincible startup.
This beats cleanly… most attacks with fwd movement… and you can xx shinku… tho it wont hit… you can DHC immediately to connect something… Imagine juggernaut’s surprise when you block the first hit of headcrush and then dp him in the face before the 2nd hit
He DOES have ken’s hurricane kick. its just hard to use as well… BUT that crossup setup from eariler is really close to his glitched tatsu setup… yea… launch. sj.lp, pause, sj.lk, less pause, fierce hurricane kick… (WILL hit 3 times… and in the corner… you can s.lk (unrollable b/c of fsd) OTG em after…
vs single projectile situations ryu can hadoken, immediate dash fwd (as he recovers soon as the projectiles collide), hadoken (repeat as long as your opp is putting stuff out the hadoken can collide with) if he’s not then he’s probably blocking… so dash in after your hadoken and try a low, throw, or standing overhead. Add in assist coverage while ryu does this and it’s solid approach really…

I play one character… then I translate it to another if possible… these ryu resets for instance came out of me using ken and doing this assist punish…launch, magic series xx lk. tatsu, pause, falling lk. land shinryuken… (90 - 100% assist kill)… I tried that reset on a point char… and it worked well. So I looked at ryu and found something similar that works even better on point.
I play like 300 matches a week online :b so I do shit randomly… then I’m like WTF was that!! So then I go into training mode and flush it out. Once I figured out what I did… I look for the small bits to add like x-ups, throws, resets and/or other ways to extend stuff.
You aren’t alone in the way you think about the game. Long ago people told everyone (and displayed) that this game was about chip dmg, keep away, infinites, priority and huge DHCs… and didn’t follow stuff like flow charting, cross ups, footies… very well… this is simply not true.
In terms of the science of how I look? Simple… all characters… EVERY SINGLE ONE… has at least one good bnb combo that does 40 - 60% dmg… most people stop with that and are happy… instead of thinking how to land that… think of how to how to land a simple combo to reset (normally mixup hi/low, throw, or crossup) that THEN goes into the big dmg bnb. You just reset the dmg scaling so its the perfect time. now… what works even better is if you find 2 or more different resets that go from said combo to said bnb finish… now you make your opp guess big time and hit em with god tier type dmg if they guess wrong. A step further is then having what I call secondary mixup for when they guess right… aka another mixup immediately… so to stay out of trouble they have to double guess. Ideally you’d also have a safe way out when they DO double guess correctly… This IS flow charting mahvel… now said character is much more potent when you can land that wtver move to start it all off. Instead of 40-60% they will get 80-100% dmg and a free mind fuck on the opp next time you get em in that setup… which is priceless…
Just most people don’t “play this game” … and they don’t want to. They don’t desire to fight it out, mix it up, ect… so they simply learn patterns and shit… how to jump back grenade with cable while jamming mando AAA… wow… good job… fuck all that. There’s another level. That shit may be effective… but I’ll take my effectiveness with a side order of skill and fun plz
Marvel is definitely once you know what another player is capable of a mind game 80% of the time. I don’t know more than a quarter of your Hulk knowledge but once I play you enough lol I WILL predict your shit even your mixups. The mental is a way bigger part of my game which is why I am cramming all of this SRK knowledge I can! That is what keeps me in the mix even against god tiers and amazing players, though admittedly nowhere near where Beats was when I played him WAY back.
Hulk in mvc3 better be kick ass…
Not sure if anyone still lurks in the Hulk forums but I would like someone with more skill than I to test some shenanigans with Ruby Heart and the Hulk. With fine execution I think there are more than a few potential setups for some interesting double crushes.
Not tested on a live blocking opponent yet, but I think if you push an opponent in the top corner with here red fireball super and xx to GC you get an easy gamma crush.
Also her ghost army super holds the enemy in place for another easy double crush regardless of being in the corner or not. Not really useful against an enemies point character, but id imagine it would wreck assists if you happen to catch them in it.
Pair those 2 char’s with doom you have a damn good mid tier team as far as I can tell.
If anyone else sees something good I am forgetting let me know my Ruby/Doom/Hulk is nowhere near the greatness of many of the players here and I would love more eyes on this team experimenting if possible.

Hulk/Doom alone can be one of the scariest things around for certain characters. Midscreen and corner lockdown that is unbreakable as long as hulk has meter.

j.lk, j.mk, j.hk, call doom rocks, cr.lk, cr.mk xx g.charge xx g.quake… doom rocks finishing hitting op… start over… 100% lockdown series that damn near builds the meter it takes to keep it going.
this old bnb combo:
cr.lk, call doom AAA, cr. mk xx g.charge xx g.quake… can be done anytime one of the hits of your block string actually lands.
Sent, BH, Doom , Juggs… can all be repinned using no meter for at least 1 rep… just wait and time j.lk to start it when doom rocks are about done.
I don’t play much ruby but there’s plenty of reasons why she could be good with hulk. My only ruby advice is don’t bank on the stupid belt trip into special xx super… shit is sooo rollable and most people online treat it like it’s her BnB… Also pretty sure you can do her schwarz super after gamma crush… so it helps to make assist smashing safer…
Only other warning is don’t take em to high midscreen using ruby’s super or will probably miss the crush… normally the higher the better for unmashability purposes is good… but a few things… her super included… can actually take em to high. Corner is still fine either way tho…
Have you ever gamma crushed a Magnetic Shockwave? Difficult but doable.
Also, Ruby’s sublimation assist can be used to set up an inescapable double crush.
Yeah Deathfist I forgot to list it, but that was one of the first ideas that came to me about why they might be a good pairing. I just wish it was the beginning of the summer so I can flesh out the tons of setups those two have with each other. Not to mention also throwing Doom at the tail end of the team opens up those possibilities even further.
You can GC both m.shockwave and m.tempest on reaction… along with HSF and a lot of other stuff. Actually all of sent’s ranged attacks… cr. fp spit included can be GC’d on reaction. Even RP… hulk hit’s his arm either as it’s coming out or retracting and gets a full GC out of it.

Help me with this then! there is a guy who consistently owns me using a team of Storm proj/Sent ground/ Blackheart Anti Air. I could beat him if I counter picked but I am really trying to do it with my new Ruby Hulk Doom team. He basically runs with Storm and does vertical typhoons while spamming drones if I am on the ground or BHeart AAA if I chase em. My usual answer to Storm runaway is a Gamma Crush but those 2 assists negate it. My other go to move is a straight up assist kill but again all 3 characters/ assists counter any of that kind of shenanigans. Also is it me or does Hulk have NO answer to Bheart and Sent trapping? LOL team scrub and MSP does not bother me a bit but I just can’t handle this team at all lol
