Hugo probs, 360s often claps instead

Anyone else seem to be having difficulty with Hugo? It’s like the same probs with Hakan doing oily slides.
I always do my 360s as 270ºs, right to up, 3 clockwise to noon.
No fail since SFA2.
But seems to me anytime the char also has a quarter circle move, I get jacked.
For Hugo if I’m on the left side, I’m clapping wind.
Also I have a great amount of difficulty with his Gigas Slam. He often just decides to hyperjump or not even whiff a punch.
I’d like to not blame my execution as I have no problems in SF4 with Gief doing 720s buffered off whiffed jabs, dashes, etc.
With Alex I have no problems with his powerbomb, but the few times I pick Hyperbomb, same problems, doing flashchops or super jumps…

Try doing the 360 in the other direction so that it doesn’t overlap with the Clap motion. For example you’re on the left side. Instead of doing the 360 clockwise, do it counter-clockwise.

i think is your execution…:coffee:

Ehh, Normally I would agree, but with no problems in any other versions, I’m wondering if its a little different.

It’s your execution. Every game handles inputs a bit differently.

I go counter clockwise, from back to up. Make sure you are actually ending on up, and piano the punch input for best results.

This.

or

Why not try starting it from down so you can get a low parry (most common), SJ (so you can’t be grabbed if you accidentally clap) and avoid the clap altogether.

Clap is half circle, right? I’m not entirely sure about this.

Quarter circle back.

Well screwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww uuuuuuuuuu

are you on live? or are you on psnotDander?

I don’t have OE, and I really really hate online anyway so I wouldn’t be on either.

:frowning:

I just like that it’s 3s.

CMAWN zAKU!!!

to avoid the clap, wear a condom.

Never heard of this problem. But it wouldn’t surprise me. Suddenly Kara-Throws are twice as hard to pull off in either offline or online.

Lately ive been lazy and using my pad, but I think I’ll have to use the stick to piano the punch because too often I’ll jump in, spin, land, hit punch, and he’ll jump right back up.
It’s just a bit annoying parrying something and going into a clap, meanwhile I can walk up to someone and do a 360 quick and have no problems.
I haven’t practiced but I used get a Tachii Gigas out on DC occasionally.
In retrospect playing with Alex too I often try jump in fierce, st forward, jab chop and instead of a knee he already went into the crouch. And his timberland stomp sometimes doesnt want to come out.

Side note, on 360, did ANYONE find a single ranked match?
I gave up after 30 mins and had to go into poor connectioned tourneys.

I sometimes get this problem too. I know this combo so well I can do it in my sleep but sometimes on 3SOE I get crMK more often than playing on MAME or DC version.

I main Hugo and been playing 3’s online and there’s no difference from offline to online in terms of Hugo execution. Just try different methods.

i have never gotten the clap. im always strapped homie

Overshoot the 270 a little and do it fast and hard. If you are getting the claps, then you are hitting punch too soon. I use the grip where the stick is between pinky and ring finger.

Go to training mode and practice walking forward straight into the 360 grab. It will help to reinforce the directions you start and end the 360 at. Then try from the other side. You’ll want to be able to 360 from parry and from blocking positions. The faster you do it, the easier it will come out since you can hit the punch button to complete it before the jump frames start up.

You just have to practice, it’s different. They are harder than SSF4’s but easier than Super Turbo’s 360. SFA2’s are harder in my opinion as well.

That’s what she said.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.
