Is it the MP fireball? It’s the MP fireball isn’t it.

Ok I’ll give that a shot. I was just recoding the dummy jumping in and attacking and I was trying to do qcf+kk qcf +kkk but never got it out. I was trying to visually confirm the armor tho. Will try this setup instead.

Shit its gouken period, cant walk in, cant jump in, IF and thats a big IF you get in at all, all it takes is 1 palm or tatsu to knock you back full screen to start all over again. I feel like you have to anticipate and have near perfect reads the entire game. And is it me or just cuz im playing hugo that it seems gouken fireball recovery is hella fast? Idk im lost on how to figure this MU out.

Gouken has no instant two hit fireball, abuse focus forward dash to get within range of armored hp or far mp or crouch mk, and then go nuts. Its a hard matchup but i’d say it isn’t as rough as the Juri one. Strangely the matchup i’ve been struggling with the most is the honda matchup, hugo can’t really do anything against any strength of headbutt, and so I just find myself idiotically neutral jumping at fullscreen in the hope of baiting something.

360k and qcf+k seem really hard to pull off consistently for some reason

Am I the only one who thinks that some of Hugo’s motions kind of overlap? I’m getting better at getting stuff to come out but when I do some of his kick specials, I’ll get some wild (and potentially hilarious) stuff to come out.

getting off ranked for now but i hit some balrog player with meatsquasher link stand lk cancel into meatsquasher link stand mp, that has to be like, balrog getting deleted off that guys disc

the trick do getting it to work is you have to do ex lariat as soon as the move it about to hit you. hugo needs to absorb the hit immedietly. then you cancel into ultra or spd.

Erm yeh sure, point me to the place and I’ll drop the info.

Armor canceled is done using stHP, not ex lariat.
If it was ex lariat, you’ll see an ex bar being used (look at boxer armor cancel ultra).

The key to do it is practice it :

  • insert ryu crHK > safe jump HK
  • when you wake up, input 360 hp~hp/mp
  • the tricks is to plink the HP first and your motion after

Kinda hard to do, but it’s possible.

Versus gouken, you have to believe … a lot !

i also have the app, ive been working the frame data on excel for you guys. im almost done.

I’ve found Hugo’s height to more or less give Gouken a fastish 2 hit fireball since his EX Hadoken connects both fireballs fairly fast at further ranges against Hugo due to his size and sometimes resulting in a trade.

Iäve seen the stromkubo vid, where he could ex ultra throw hondas headbutt on block, but it looks like he had to do kara ultra throw. I don’t know if it worked for all of his headbutts.

Guys, it IS EX Lariat. We’ve asked Stormkubo himself when he first did Armor Cancel into Back breaker on jump in (harder than safe jump and meaty set-ups)

SF4 has a weird thing where the game doesn’t take meter away instantly so you can do weird things like Ex Armor cancel into a super which should be impossible but it’s not.
You can Ex Lariat~Ex Ultra Throw for one meter. If it was St.hp I really doubt you’d be able to do it on meaties considering it doesn’t get armor until frame 7. Although I don’t doubt that St.hp could be used to cancel as well as Ex Meatsquasher.

You can armor cancel with both EX lariat or Meatsquasher.
But Lariat seems to work better, specially if they are in the ground.

But for armor canceling Ultra 1 while recieving an air attack, is way easier to do by EX MS, because you do 360+KK, 360+PPP.
The same situation, but with Ultra 2, Lariat is way better because you do QCF+KK, QCF+KKK

Leap Attack seems… strong
+5/+2 at its first active frame? Meaties can make Hugo go up to +14/+11

hi, a question about monster lariat, what is the use of MK and HK versions ?

LK, you can combo into it (clap, 2LP, LK lariat)
ex can be used to go through moves and hit.

but MK & HK with a move that is -11 on block ???
