If you want to keep them in the corner, dont use Ultra Throw, spd is fast and leaves you in the perfect spot
If you just want damage, raw backbreaker him after ultrathrow. May be tough at first since the opponent falls behind you.

Tried that, doesn’t work. I can do it, it’s just inconsistent for me. Besides, I’ve narrowed down the problem: Maybe I’m analysing this wrong, but unlike before, you can’t buffer the motion for Clap during hitstop. Starting the motion during hitstop will result in nothing coming out, which is my problem, not not getting the Claps to combo in time. I’m used to timing my additional claps right as the previous clap hits, which means I start the motion during hitstop and end it during hitstun. Here, I have to wait until hit stop ends, then quickly input the motion before hitstun ends. That’s also why doing LP Clap after EX Clap is extra weird, because of EX Clap’s extra hitstop means I have to pause even longer. It’s irritating, because I’m pretty sure this is an SFIV-only (SFxT?) thing.
On another note, I learned this today: At fullscreen, Gouken’s upwards Hadouken will still hit Hugo if he’s trying to build meter with lariat or clap. Profound sadness.
Hey all, what’s the best follow up to do after ultra throw while facing the corner? I can’t seem to catch them with clap. Megaton even misses I think.
the butt.
unless you mean for best positioning and damage, then i have no idea.
Reminder that if you land super with the opponent cornered, you get considerably more damage if you do lk backbreaker after the super instead of cancelling the last hit into the fixed damage backbreaker.
Okay so I’m going to start some threads to organize some of this stuff. Too much info is coming in too fast
If someone makes a Hugo Match-up thread please call it “How to squash your meat”
Fucking done lol
Oh and for people having problems with Meatsquasher. You HAVE to end it in up. There is no other input you can end in to get it. Even from down back you can’t end in back or up back it has to be UP.
For dash/forward Meatsquasher, do the motion 6321478 That’ll be your easiest way to get it consistently. As for lariat you have to really wait to not hit Forward. Also I’m wondering if empty jump MS would be as good as giefs empty jump running bear grab
After body splash mixups, I found that j. Hk on wake up is very ambiguous looking for a move that lands in front
Man I wish they had better colors for hugo.
Colour one and colour 8 is all you need. I was kind of hoping for the white outfit the andores wore in final fight.
Was playing vs a viper friend and I got tired of getting all my shit stuffed so I just gave up and did the butt overhead. It trades with TK in my favor, lasted long enough to beat Ex seismo, and caught Burn Kick. It even went over her ultra and beat it.
Ass to mouth is the best overhead vs her on wake-up. Even if it’s a huge risk the options she loses is huge because vipers hate blocking and if you get her to block it’s your field.
Does Hugo have a kara SPD? I’m an X Tekken player predominately, but I’ve noticed that it possesses a much bigger range in USF4.
Theoretically you could kara clap to SPD, but it’s not something I’d recommend trying to do by hand.
can’t imagine kara clap SPD, I still have a hard time with kara clap Ultra Throw
I was using St.Mk plus LP and ending in up forward. I’m sure the range was increased
for those of us hugo players who cant consistently clap combo cough me cough i found an audio cue, during claps you will hear a sharp chime noise, the start of that chime is the time to hit the button for your next clap

This was from UltraDavid, and he said he does LK Lariat for Hard Knockdown, then does dd + MK for the little hop to hop over opponent to put them back in the corner. Haven’t tried this out yet but it sounds like the best follow up to do right now.

That’s genius lol. I didn’t know that worked. I was doing cr.mk then ass out of the corner with HK Backbreaker. Relatively safe way to get out of the corner. But still lose position advantage… EDIT: Well I can’t corpse hop using ddMK on Chun Li so I guess it’s character specific? But the hard KD from Lariat is long you have time to LK Backbreaker or simply dash and jump to the other side.
Another option is the reset people talk about: UT, cr.lp xx EX Meat Squasher to get to the other corner. Sounds gimmicky though.
And speaking of corner Ultra Throw. To land Ultra 2 in the corner it’s easier to do a qcf in both directions. You can do the motions slowly.

I’ve managed to land that once or twice but it’s super obvious. A better reset is UT, cr.lp xx lp clap (they think you dropped UT into clap) and then they often press a button without realising you recovered before they did even with the clap, allowing you to go for another command grab or backbreaker if you think they’ll jump.
