HRAP3 compatibility

Well, a lot of things can be found for the HRAP2, but the HRAP3?
Since the HRAP2 seems to be well out of my reach now I decided to go for a HRAP3. But my question is: how will I be able to use this with a Dreamcast or PS2? At least MAME’s no problem thanks to USB but that’s not my primary application.

I did a bit of searching but I didn’t find anything so it would be really nice to be helped out.

why can’t u get a hrap2? is it a money issue or a being able to find one? you do know they were re-released and are pretty easy to get now.

yeah, i bought two in the last month.

i got the same question too, i might pick up a hrap 3 but i wana be able to use it for ps2 too

Okay, I’d also get a HRAP2 but on NCSX they are like $175!! And I’m shipping to Europe also… this would kill me. While the HRAP 3 is only $90 at play-asia and the extra shipping is only like $30 for me with my order.

But if you can point me to a good place for a HRAP2 I’ll gladly take that.

just replace the pcb in a hrap3 with a dual shock one if it’s an issue, plenty of people have done this before with hrap3s and VSHGs alike

come to think of it i should probably be doing this to my own hrap3 soon so i can play kof xi/ngbc, so might as well ask the wise folk of tech talk, any specific guides on it out there?

WTF!!!

Where can I get a HRAP2?
If they re-released them I gotta get my hands on 1 fast before the sold out again.

^
Loads of 'em on ebay. It’s going to cost you though: the sellers are all in the United States.

"Replace pcb"
Not only it’s soldering work but… let’s see… ?25 for a dualshock 2 controller, that about $35 just for the pcb alone. And the shipping is often ridiculous, stick $90, shipping to Europe $99.

If anyone on this forums can offer a good private solution to my problem (shipping to Europe) I’d be glad to pay you extra for your efforts.

If it helps any, you only need a Dualshock 1 for this job, surely available for $6. There’s strange problems with using DS2 PCB as it has all analogue buttons that go haywire when wired to digital buttons, so it isn’t really worth using. Once you finish the mod, you can sell on the HRAP3 PCB to a stick builder to recoup some money.

Hmmm… if I only did this for me, no problem. But this is for a friend I’m afraid to take the risk.

Man, my first stick and already I’m lost if I should pay up or do a hack job… -.-

edit: okay, since I found such a good occasion, @90 with shipping and all, I’ll go for the soldering.

Erm, I’m from France and have built 1 custom stick for me and have modded 2 commercial sticks for other people, I have several PC pad PCBs ready. What it is that you want exacly ?

EDIT: this was meant to be a PM but there you go …

Okay, sent you a message.

They have Hori Real Arcade Pros at www.videogamecentral.com they sell ps2 to ps3 converter with it also. only $99

no way for hrap 3 to be able to use on ps2?

Many, many thanks… but no

Yes, the two sticks would make only $200… but the shipping adds another $270 in. Too brutal for me :wasted:

Nope. No way. You gotta put in a PS2 compatible PCB, preferably a PS1 Dual Shock.

Trust this guy, he knows his stuff. Can’t use the HRAP3 for anything other than PS3 (and PC?) unless you start playing with guts.

For the record, the HRAP2 is great with the Pelican for PS3 and PC, and the Total Control Plus for DC. (Controller Adapter/Converter Thread)
