As an online warrior this is my deciding factor. I want to assume its better than UMVC3’s but I can’t trust capcom these days.
From what has been said so far, the game uses a rollback netcode, but tends to lag more like a traditional input netcode when things get laggy. Which means you shouldn’t see as much of the teleports that people hate about SFV’s netcode. People want rollback netcode, but don’t want the visual rollbacks so they likely have done a better job if it just slows down on lag.
UMVC3’s netcode was garbage so it’ll definitely be better than that game’s. I never played Marvel 3 online after a month or 2 of Vanilla because it was that bad. If I wasn’t playing someone like 30 minutes away from me I couldn’t finish basic bnbs. Let alone do anything with execution with Viper.
I would still wait till street release on Tuesday to get a full opinion, but so far from I’m hearing it should be decent. Especially since they’re using Sony/Microsoft/Steam servers this time, no crossplay and no CFN so they don’t have a bunch of the things that bog the netcode and servers down that SFV did. SFV’s netcode got bad for a lot of people as soon as they implemented CFN in the beta. Which should also mean no heavy server downtimes or random log outs.
It’s better to wait until official release to see how well the netcode holds up. SFV netcode was fine pre-release but when it officially dropped there were a ton of server problems.
Also waiting to see if steam netcode will be any different
Not sure how much the netcode would be different since it’s peer to peer. Connectivity may be an issue but how the game plays now should be the case at launch
Floe is on stream now and says netcode seems very good so far
Server issues on the same level as SFV shouldn’t happen since it’s not on CFN.
From the few online games I’ve played on the PS4, its pretty damn nice so far.
Most of my matches today had heavy lag. I had one match that dropped the frame rate to 30FPS. This game isn’t liking me right now.
maximillian looks nothing like that
I’ve had an overall good experience so far. Lobbies are good. Options to spectate or set it to “both players stay” gives you a rematch button. 5 bar connections have been good but anything less is noticeable. Better than sf5 but not as good as tekken so far. I’d give it a B.
Worst online experience I had so far. Reminds me of sfxt. I can’t find matches and when I get one it lags so hard it’s basically impossible to finish a combo more complex than magic series. Maybe it’s the pc version, maybe it just sucks
haven’t had any issues on ps4. My buddy is in NY and our connection is constant 4 bars and no lag. Even when I am hosting 8 man lobby. I heard steam voice chat just being enabled can cause pc lag. Try disabling that.
This is a known issue with mic enabled. Disable it and try again.
I wanted to get it on steam, but if the pc netcode is garbage imma pass.
playing the PC version and netcode is great. central europe here and I played people from different countries nearby and it was pretty much perfect. I’m so happy about it, still remember the SFxT desaster. one thing though, if you create lobbies make sure to mute the other players and deactive any recording device in your system. otherwise game will automatically transmit and will cause lag. messing with the steam client settings won’t change that.
