instead of stretching they just zoom closer. so the smallest they’ll be is normal.
zoomed in so much the camera starts to tilt downward when a crouching move hits like how the camera moves up for jumps

Im surprised more people didnt mention Ken. He’s a solid high-tier with virtually NO bad match-ups. Even just taking away his srk-srk combo would be great.
Also:
-I reeeeally liked the idea of making Chun’s c.mk recovery slower. Like why the fuck is it so fast?
-It would be cool if Yun’s Genei-Jin cancelled after he was hit.
-If Sean’s roll was invincible, and his tornado kick wasnt so punishable, he’d be kickass
-Alex’s grab priority, Twelve’s priority, Makoto’s command grab, Remy’s stun bar… its all pretty obvious to any veteran what needs tweaking
i wouldnt change a damn thing
give elena more booty
Ban SA3 Yun
Ban Makato
IMHO-
Yun- Make his SA3 do no chip damage and make the bar longer, but the time given for using Gen’ei-jin be the same as ‘vanilla’ 3S
ChunLi-
Make her SAII 1 stock only and maybe a long bar, perhaps also reduce the dashing distance for it as well? SAI could be 2 stocks.
Ken-
Make SA3 two stocks only?
Sean-
Give him his 2I normals back, make his F, D, DF+P more useful, fix his QCB+K or make it like his 2I ver. (QCB+2K allows you to link to Supers).
Ibuki-
Make her SA3 two stocks?
That’s it off the top of me head…
revived for relevance.
It’s obvious Chun is the #1 overpowered character in 3S, what are the properties that make her so obnoxious and what are reasonable ways to even the play field without ruining her completely.
I’d start with her low forward. It’s super fast, it’s got crazy range and a super low hitbox that allows her to poke safely from further away than the rest of the cast. Plus it links crazy late into her stupid SAIII.
Capcom could rebalance the move by making her hitbox taller. They could add recovery frames and reduce the hitstun so that her c.mk would be less spamable, and unable to link into SAIII so easily. Heck, why not just call for no linking off that silly broken kick and force Chunners to cancel into her super.
This would solve a gamut of problems without a huge community divide. Virtually all characters have some great things going for them. No matter how you shake a stick at it this game will never truly be balanced to meet peoples outrageous expectations. Everyone seems to want their character to be buffed (dumb).
Although I’m sure some arguments have considerable merit. Sean players requesting better normals and Q players getting a quicker command grab etc. are not bad requests. But if they kept it the way it was I would be fine with that. It’s a great game. 'Nuff said.
I like 3s a lot. It’s my favorite game, and I think it’s perfect as is. But for discussion’s sake these are some changes to some characters that I would find acceptable IMO. I’m not suggesting these be implemented.
Chun- 1 Stock SA2, maybe take away one or two of her links to it?
Yun- Slightly longer GJ bar, can’t build meter until GJ combo is over??
Ken- I think ken is pretty solid.
Mak- MAYBE remove her 100%, even if it wasn’t 100, it would still do good stun.
Dud- Solid imo.
Oro- Feel like he should do more stun.
Gouki- Give him kens shoryu-shoryu lol.
Ryu- Solid
12- Turn 12’s character portrait into a ‘?’ and randomly selects either chun yun or ken.
Oro has really good stun already, actully. At least his roundhouse does.
I wish SRK had the “best voted answer” feature like in Yahoo questions, this way we could simplify something that Capcom would hopefully consider using…
Let Q cancel into his dash punches from anything else besides close standing mk. Seriously that’s all he needs, it’s annoying that it seems like the only way i can combo into dash punches is from a jump in HP->MK->dashpunch
That’s not buffing Q. That’s just giving him pointless offense.
Remy is a little bitch and should forever have the smaller stun bar
This seems like a more appropriate place. Just wanted to mention that I love when people complain about seeing the same 5 characters in tournament finals. Note: seeing. Not playing against, simply seeing, in youtube videos, the same characters.
Get a god damn life. For probably 90% of us tiers mean very little. Matchups mean a lot more. Complaining about seeing the same characters is absolutely retarded. If you like the game the characters don’t matter. This isn’t a tv show, it doesn’t need to be exciting for the viewer. I can’t even begin to understand that mentality. Yes the entire game needs to be altered so that you can see Elena win EVO. Which you couldn’t attempt because you’re busy sitting at home watching it on youtube and then whining that it isn’t a sitcom or a fucking feelgood movie where the underdog wins.
The game is exciting to play no matter who you use. Asking for rebalance so that the people who 1. can’t be bothered to get better and 2. would rather just watch can have a more enjoyable time is abso-fucking-lutely insane. Rant end.
The thing is though, having characters that are fun to play and have a good variation of playstyles to show to people watching gets more people playing the game.Seeing Chun low forward>super in grand finals is what turns people off the game.I’m fine with any other character but watching Chun is not exciting in any way.
Also I would say now that the people that play 3rd strike now are the people that love the game for what it is.There is no money left in the game so we play it purely for fun now and to improve our characters even though there is no guaranteed future in sight in terms of big tournaments outside of Japan. If we are playing because we find the game fun, then why dont we dedicate ourselves to characters that are fun and are cool characters anyway.Chun is in every SF game and her gameplay in 3s isnt very spectacular. If you have a basic grasp of footsies and poking you can do well with her because her normals have arguably broken priority(her back fierce for example).Couple that with a two stock super that does 40% damage and is piss easy to link into she just doesnt take as much effort as other characters and thats why people rage.
Im not defending people who rage at her though, people should just not get hit by it and create their own strategies to get past her stuff.I’m trying to do it myself with Alex. But this is why 3rd strike is still working in Japan, because they have communities where they can play any character and learn every matchup in depth. However outside of Japan we dont have this exposure to every character so when people want to pick up 3s they turn to Chun because they automatically assume they will never be able to reach a higher level with other characters because they dont have a large enough community to play with to level up their character.Chun is basically a shortcut, you dont have to put effort into learning charge partitioning or patience with Hugo or necros specific corner juggles and all the other things that other characters with a higher entry level have.
People should not take that path though unless they actually legitimately like Chun as a character.Like Nuki or someone who plays her every game no matter what.3rd Strike has such a great game system and characters along with Graphics, music and artstyle, its just a shame that people dont get the idea of dedicating 100% into a character they actually like and are therefore turned off by the game and say its broken because of Chun.
Lol chun is not a shortcut. Maybe if you play scrubs all day.
If you know how to fight chun you won’t lose to a shitty one.
I agree with tebbo.
Ps. Charge partitioning is easy and in the end just kinda gimmicky. Necros corner combos are easy too.
It’s funny how your bringing up execution lol.
Give Alex a Hummer to run people over
Just want to say that this is an ancient thread I wrote up before I started to really learn 3S.
The game is already dead dude… It’s been dead for years, SF4 was just like it finally being put in a proper grave. Getting new people isn’t really something I think anyone cares about. Giving people who still play an easy way to get together and play/practice with as good a system of netcode as they can manage is what 3SOE is.
I really do not care if people are driven away by chun-li. At all. People who think chun-li ruins the game haven’t played it very much and are talking out of their ass. I seriously doubt they play excellent chun-lis all the time. Let alone are they themselves good enough for that to matter.
People can have whatever reason they want to play a character. If someone wants to win and hasn’t really found a character they specifically like they should probably get good with a character considered upper tier. How is that wrong? People should take any path they want to.
Edit: All the people who pick low tier characters and aren’t good with them and then come and complain… This trend seems really common with people who choose low tier characters. It’s an excuse. “Oh I can beat people with Ken easily but I choose to use Q and lose. Q should be better.” No. You’re just a bad player. There’s really nothing more to it than that. I use a little bit of a lot of characters because variety is fun but I focus on Alex and Necro. When I lose it’s because I didn’t know the matchup well, didn’t react well, got scared or was just straight up outplayed by someone superior. It has really nothing to do with my character. All of the characters have the tools to take out all of the other characters. If you can’t use those tools to win that’s your problem, not the character. Knowingly using a harder to play character and then complaining is the absolute worst. If that’s the case you like the character you use for the wrong reasons. Probably because you saw someone like Kuroda (who is just kind of a genius at the game) and wanted to emulate. Little did you know you have nowhere near the dedication or interest to sustain that path.
It’s ok to say some characters have a harder time than others, that’s just how it is in every game. But when you call for rebalance because you want it to be easier with the character you apparently ‘main’ that’s just retarded. If you choose to use Q you go in knowing it’s going to take a lot of effort on your part to become good with him. If you like the character though and the way he plays is a good fit for you than this isn’t a problem. It’s a game, we play it for fun, if you think getting good with a character is work then I don’t know why you bother playing.
Honestly I’m a very calm and reasonable person (in person) but the things people say here make me want to strangle someone sometimes. I would hazard a guess that those people are between the ages of 16-20 and have no specific interest in 3S and most likely discovered it due to SF4 being released.
You must be high. 3S will never die. Be relegated to a cult following like ST, sure. But never die.
I agree with your Chun Li comment though. I will admit I thought she was totally broken and breaks the game before I decided trying to play as her for a bit and really try to find ways to get in on her. It’s a hard fight. No doubt about it. But if she’s beating you 9-1 then there’s something wrong with your game because she’s not unstoppable. When she’s got SA2 loaded I approach her on the ground, and play cautious. Same principal when fighting Ken, he can link off of anything, be cautious and know when to move in and when to punish. Only difference is that Chun’s crMK is probably the best in the game. And admittedly her Kara-Throw is a huge pain in the ass.
And consider that her wakeup game isn’t nearly as good as the Shoto’s. She has no Special she can do on wakeup and super-cancel into. Spinning Bird Kick, the EX Spinning Bird Kick, and SA2 all have startup on wakeup and can be stopped with some smart playing
