Good points made by all.I can see your point Let Blood Run,you’ve been playing 3s for a much longer time than me so I respect your opinion.
Does anyone think online edition will change the tiers(uprisings of new players with their respective characters),or has the game been solved pretty much tier wise?
I think the Tiers are pretty definite at this point. Top 3 being arguably Yun, Chun, and Makoto. Bottom being 12 and Sean. Everyone else has a chance (5-5 or 6-4) against the Top 3. I actually think Alex and Necro are solid mid tier characters. Remy is debatable. If he didn’t take as much damage or stun, and had maybe one other workable combo he’d be mid-low. It’s all dependent on player skill really.
That said, I’m not picking up 3SO until I know what changes have been made and if the online is solid. Even then I might wait a month just for the scrub-invasion to die down. Because the last thing I want to do is invest in a console, and end up spending most of my time playing against shitty Kens.
Relax. No game literally dies and disappears. ‘Dead’ means relegated to a position of less importance. I think you’re confusing it with ‘gone’. ST is dead too.
No, OE won’t change anything. Capcom won’t change it and if you mean due to a surge of players using different characters, no. The overwhelming majority will buy it as the flavor of the week and drop it the next. Some people will stick with it but they won’t be decent for a while so I don’t think it’ll do a thing.
If each respective communities outside of Japan do seemingly level up to the point where tiers change, we might see some shifts in the high-mid and mid positions, but I’m seeing the top two not changing too much. Who knows though…I mean like last year we saw Hugo of all characters getting bumped up to mid-tier!
But yeah, honestly, I like SF3, but I think something should be done with parries, they can shut out so many options it seems. Not exactly a big deal but its something to consider imo.
Then learn to overcome it dude. They like to parry on wakeup? Do something different then. Grab them. Try and bait their parry and punish. Etc. Complaining about parries at this point is pretty dumb, no offense.
I know there are ways to overcome them, I am just saying that the game would be better with a limitation put on them imo. Considering the thread is about rebalancing and changing SF3, I thought I would just post something like that.
Sorry for not looking through the thread though, next time I’ll search.
If this was 1999 then you’d have a point, but the game’s evolved over the years. Many NEW options have been created out of parries, and it’s pretty much gotten to the point where you just can’t even compare 3S to the old games. And let me just say this: people who keep saying fireballs suck in 3S because of parries don’t know 3rd Strike.
my favorite example was right after sf4 was released in japan. at game versus, this guy who played 3s when it was at it’s peak in the u.s., was emotionally drunk with hype from a new sf game being out (so his scrubby ass could start over). he was trash talking 3s, thinking he could convince the players around him to quit and play 4. he goes on for a minute about how fireballs are totally useless in 3s before he sits down to play a game, then procedes to be beaten basically only by gouki’s ground fireball, air fireball and anti air super fireball. iirc, his opponent was from the states, too
^ That is funny. And RoGE9, you’re basically saying you’re against strategy and skill. For example the Daigo video. Do you really think Justin Wong deserved to win by chipping? Anything that gives the player more options is a great thing for fighters. At one point I was like you and didn’t like parrying, but the game is so bad ass that I took the time to learn and now I’m pretty good at it and don’t have big problems. Granted, I still can’t parry Chun’s SA2. But I’m doing a helluva lot better than a year ago.
Well I am not exactly saying that they should take it out completely lol… I just don’t like useless things, I just thought they would be a bit more useful with a limitation put on it, but again, just my opinion.
Since when did parrying make haoukens useless? I really hate this misconception by people who haven’t played 3S and just read what other people who haven’t played 3S have to say about it.
There’s a reason they’re -16 on parry. In no way are hadoukens useless. A parry bar is just entirely superfluous. Why do you need a limitation on something that you need to guess to perform correctly? Your opinion is your opinion and that’s cool but I would think harder about what you’re saying. It seems more like you’re basing this on speculation and misconception more than experience.
