How would you re-balance Third Strike?

I LOVE 3rd Strike, but the tiers are VERY apparent in this game. Moreso than in probably any other fighting game I’ve ever played. O_o

If I had to change things, I’d somehow bring every other character up to the level of Yun/Chun/Ken, and possibly make parries cost SA meter. [/drunk]

you obviously dont love 3rd strike.

And why is that? Good things can always be better. I think a game that’s TOO balanced is on the boring side, but that’s not to say things couldn’t be improved a little in that area.

think about this.

If you really wanted to balance 3S in a meaningful way I would do the following.

  1. Give Alex a gun.

  2. Make Alex say " FAGGOT!" instead of “WEAK!” at the end of a round.

Then 3s would be double perfect

What games do you think have more apparent tiers than 3s? Maybe I haven’t played those, but when people talk about imba fighting games, usually 3s and MvC2 come up.

3s is usually labelled “unbalanced” by people who don’t actually like or play the game at all. In Japan, lower tier characters dominate in a lot of tournaments. In other countries they don’t dominate as much because the level of skill is lower and usually the best are playing top tier characters to be able to compete with Japan. However, now that the scene is dying a lot of people are picking up lower tier characters and are still beasting with them. Pyrolee is owning a lot of people with Q right now at Denjin Arcade. 3s isn’t “unbalanced”; it’s more accurate to say that it can be “random”.

Notice the pattern? I think Akuma is the combo breaker.

Of course the game is unbalanced. Making the game balanced would require Chun-Li to have one big bar SA2 with less priority on the standing back HP, Yun’s SA3 to have one big bar, deleting Makoto, and taking out Ken’s double SRK.

some supers need to be shorten like ryu’s sa1 so he can stock three of them but really the game is straight. i have seen remy beat a great chun player. hugo spd KO and win so i think the game is straight but needs a little fixing here and there but for the most part its fine. dudley ftw

3s is a great game, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be better.

I agree with all of these changes.

-make special grabs always beat out kara throws.
-more moves beating out parries and option select parries
—ex. d.mp->(opponent parry then d.mk) ->super
-12 more life, shorter ex bar SA1, SA2 is 2 bar. faster + less recovery on pokes
-Q rush punch bigger hitbox so it doesn’t whiff.
-elena’s flying kick faster and different parry timing depending on button
-chunli d.mk LONGER RECOVERY like shoto’s. she still has other a lot of other SA2 link combos.
-ken d.mp less frames to hit confirm.
-add a glitch to use instant charge move after parry
-easier charge partitioning (remy!)
-Hugo combo off far d.wp, fast recovery on standing hk and allow a stun like f+hp.
-white life recovery on parries like in SF4, but a lot faster recovery.

dude, there are HEAPS of things that need to be altered for it to be on par with sf4’s balance, listing them is futile lol

i also agree that u shouldnt change how moves work but tweak damage, health and bar stocks, some supers don’t get used at all if some were toned down from certain characters and others buffed up then it wouldnt be a neutering but more rounding off of the supers available.

ken gets only 1 denjin length bar for sa3, sa2 gets 25% damage boost
makoto gets +10% ibuki health

twelve gets 25% extra damage on all moves
remy gets -10% of urien health, 3 short stocks of sa1
hugo gets 25% more health
q gets 25% extra damage on all moves, 3 short stocks for sa1
sean gets 25% extra damage on all moves
alex gets 25% extra damage on all moves, sa1 denjin length, 3 short stocks for sa2
elena sa3 shinku hadoken meter length

just fucking give twelve a genei jin that combos from ANYTHING and make it so that the damage scaling gives each hit 120 % more damage and 90 frames more blockstun each time. plus he can do as many x.n.d.l’s as he would ever want while in this mode. also incorporate a bug that makes it so that the characters who just got mollywhooped by a twelvei-jin and who are for some reason not dead, probably because the player were retarded, cannot move until twelve has officially killed them off.

this would make it so twelve could be banned so us poor twelve players can finally move on to other characters.

and change uriens sa3’s name to rapist reflector, a much more suitable name. and give him a dictator custume while your at it, he would look splendid in it.

I was thinking, it would be cool if twelve could taunt and copy the opponents taunt and get that little extra boost, then go back to normal. Invisibility is pretty meh on the list. It would be fun to taunt against akuma and get a damage boost for one move or taunt Q and get a big defense buff.

It’s fine the way it is, I just wish there was a hyper Street Fighter 3.

so you like the fact that basically 3-5 characters dominate from the cast of 19?
it’s a great game, but i’m sick of seeing the same characters in tournaments
