How to Stop Worrying and Love the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth - The Ultimate Doctor Strange Thread

I will look into it today, the only problem is that Shredder > Acid Rain combination does already so many hits =\

I like boxing characters in the corner with EoA so that if they change directions while blocking or God forbid, let go of block, they are forced into contact with the Eye. Then setting up flame carpet unblockables. Not fair.

Dats why I rock it.

If I were to play rushdown Dorm, would EoA + Plasma Beam assists work? Or should I just stick with Hidden Missiles?

Yea eye would def work.
Use it for added corner pressure and use it in short blockstrings then teleport.
I also like to fly then airdash forward and back while calling eye.

Dorm/Eye/Missiles is super sick!

Hidden Missiles and Plasma Beam are more about matchups than what’s better. Hidden Missiles is the better assist if you can protect it, but teams that rock Plasma Beam, Unibeam, etc. will make it hard for you to get a Hidden Missiles call off. The awesome thing about Plasma Beam is that Doom appears a good distance behind you, so you can even call it while a character like Wolverine is about to tear into you, and it tends to go off safely and blast your opponent off, allowing you to resume your play. On the other hand, in a Dormammu/Hidden Missiles vs. Wolverine/Plasma Beam match, assuming high skill level of both players, there’s a good chance Dormammu won’t even get a Hidden Missiles call off between Wolverine tearing around the screen and Plasma Beam clearing it.

Between Eye of Agamotto and Bolts of Balthakk, Eye of Agamotto is excellent for playing keepaway and extending combos, as well as incoming character setups, but not so great for rushdown. Bolts of Balthakk is decent for keepaway, but tends to shine more because you can trijump between bolts safely and try to open people up. Also, if you Dark Matter + Bolts of Balthakk -> Mass Change M to make Dark Matter cross up, Dark Matter and Bolts of Balthakk combo and give you easy jump loops.

My own feeling is that Plasma Beam > Bolts of Balthakk, but Plasma Beam vs. Hidden Missiles is largely taste and team composition, as is Eye of Agamotto vs. Bolts of Balthakk.

Fair enough. Guess I’ll learn to play with both assists then, since I already have a Plasma Beam extension for the FoF loop.

Any tips on how to make Strange/Ryu work? best ryu assist to use? i run ryu first but there are many cases where strange has to hold his own and in return he gets owned…

Ryu can do the kind of mixups RayRay uses with bolts, like jumping to the other side and air-tatsu back to create crossups…

Hey, Morrigan monsters, help me out: can I flame-loop after her uppercut super?

Don’t think so. I tried it out, and none of her supers seem to work with the 7 Rings DHC.

what about when strange gets snapped in or ryu has to be a temporary assist while he gets red life back, how do i survive with strange? i use deadpool as my anchor and his otg assist for ryu.

You cant compose a strong team picking your assists thinking about combos. The best assists in the game are the ones that dominate neutral, and can extend combos. Neutral should be priority… You would need to time Ryu’s tatsu with Strange’s blockstrings. But again, that is not the ideal scenario.

so ryu’s tatsu would be his best neutral assist for strange? i was thinking fireball to help with his teleports… i know it wont be ideal im just looking to give strange a punchers chance when he gets out there

Ryu’s Tatsu is okay with Strange.

On another note: I am watching Curleh Mustache right now, and watching Dieminion’s Strange is actually making me angry. How long have you been playing the character? I mean, I know Street Fighter is his priority in life, but it looks like his Strange is still assist tier…

:frowning:

It’s his team construction and apathy towards learning a character. He sucks up meter with Joe and Strange but when it really counts, will abstain from using meter to have bar for AV on anchor.

This again. I need yur halp. :frowning:

The thing I don’t understand about the video is what occurred between the combo on Dante and getting Wesker full-screen next to the glyphs. My first thought is that something happened between a FoF (Assuming this is what you did prior to the glitch), and it activating one glyph but not the other due to the character’s hurtbox and the particular staggering of the glyphs. Weird that it’s happening with yellow glyphs considering they generally give no shits about what’s between them.

OH

I think I found out what illusion is for. Or at least one use for it that isn’t guaranteed to kill you if you do it while they’re in the air. Standing inside and in front of EoA’s that you just placed and baiting the overhead so they fall right in. Granted they won’t always just try and punish you standing inside a big ball of energy but it works standing in front of it a little ways away too. Easy confirm. Just a thought.

I did not see a TAC combo guide on the combo thread, anyone have a link they can share? I want to start using Haggar/Strange/X-23, but I want a bit more absurd meter build, also I want to get the kill with strange for the incoming agamotto into grabs stuff.
