How is it exploding by itself? =S
It’s as if when you release a FotF, the game recognizes what glyphs are present on the screen. And with that extra glyph slipped in, the oldest glyph is removed but the game still makes all the glyphs explode and gives the projectile afterwards the properties of the three most recent glyphs.
For example, summon a red grace followed by two yellows. FotF, then summon another yellow grace before the flame makes contact with any glyph and you’ll have the 3y laser. Vice versa. Whats more, the projectile doesn’t flow from that last glyph. It continues from where the second ignited glyph was. Don’t know about yellows yet, but making that fourth glyph a red gives you that detonation which may be useful.
So could there be a way to get two 3Y beams on screen? Maybe in X-Factor? Just thinking outside the box. I’ll head in the lab in a while, this is a quite a nice find.
Possibly, you really can never be sure with this game. Now that Marvel is past it’s infancy a smidge, individual tech specific to characters is getting discovered, like the virtually endless Dante blockstring cancel. Hopefully this is the opening of the floodgates for Steve.
Elaborate, please.

I’m starting to like Bolts for incoming setups (opponent has to block meaty) and anti-airs at fullscreen. I like to think of it as a really long range poke if used at a distance. Easy enough to confirm hits into XF combos if needed.
lol i though the “auto detonation” tech was 1st month knowledge. What i actually want to discover is how to put a hitbox on a grace L, somebody made a vid about a glitch (think it was 1st month as well) where the grace L had a hitbox surrounding, guy said he was trying some Rogueyoshi EOA elevator combo (remember the 1st month swag?), then the hitbox appeared on the glyph. You all should be working on this glitch now lol, the graces have infinite power apparently.
and no, there cant be two Lv3 flames on screen, the game “auto-detonate” the red grace, but in exchange if there were three graces L out, the result will be a lv2 flame. I set three graces L after of my Thor bnb, Mighty Tornado at superjump height, DHC into SOV, teleport H, Grace L x2, flying, grace L, call Ammy, teleport M, lol so dirty, and Strange feels so high with those glyphs above everybody. Not good against teleporters of course. This might be the key to using “autodetonations” on incoming characters.
"OMG, enemy is coming in!"
call bolts
Spencer meaty j.H
1st bolt hits
PARTY TIMEEEEE
I’ve done that for a long time. Wesker/Bolts is also ridiculously powerful. Anyone that can command-grab is really good with bolts.
GX’s team with Strange would be MAD good.
what can you do with bolts assist vs incoming characters? i haven’t really found anything yet. that’s one of the things i miss about EoA assist.
i personally have dante, morrigan, strange.
You can grab setup with Bolts for incoming. I do it most of the time with Viper.
morrigan has a command grab; sadly, she can only get a hyper off of it. that setup still sounds a little raw. i’d be scared of someone air dashing and hitting strange’s assist. would it be better to maybe throw and air soul fist with morrigan, fly, call bolts of balthakk, air dash down, then go for a high/low/grab mixup?
that’s just off the top of my head. i should go test that out later. i’d like to be able to use bolts against incoming characters when i don’t have dante’s jam session.
You will need to space it a bit if you don’t want Strange to get wacked. Bolts snipes assist for you help you getting in without get hit. If you want to get the throw setup, you must time it between the pause for the Bolts assist.
exactamundo.
it makes more sense for morrigan to throw a fireball (might as well be a soul drain) first since it will pin the incoming character and add protection to her and strange’s assist. even if the doctor does get tagged, she can dash in and attack. i’ll play around with it in training mode later.
I meant Strange on point vs. incoming characters lol, but yeah it’s ridiculously easy to setup guard breaks with Magneto if I just time it right.
If you space it right, you can EOA and have enough space to teleport for a left right mixup.
oh, i thought you might have meant strange on point. it’s kind of difficult to test incoming techs in training mode because using a snap back isn’t always the same.
in vanilla, i used to do this thing with phoenix vs incoming characters: TK Trap (the air one); :h: teleport right as the opponent is coming in. the result would be phoenix ends up behind (and above) her opponent because of their forward momentum. the tk trap would activate, they’d block the wrong way, i’d use an air normal and get a combo.
can dr. strange do anything like that with his :h: teleport?
If you time it right with an assist, it will crossup due to the opponent’s forward momentum. Most of my incoming setups usually revolve around making the opponent block something (like Bolts or TK Lvl 0 Flame) and letting Ammy do her lockdown with Cold Star.
On incoming, I run Shuma point now. I call bolts and do qcf. LMH (whichever i choose) if its midscreen area.
in corners, i usually jump and either do a qcf. L mystic smash or M mystic smash, since its 2 different angles then do a quick overhead. I am getting decent with strange, but I can’t do a single combo online with him, other than abcs abcs super. How long did it take you guys to be able to do loops and stuff online?
Also for the FoF loop, where is the place to learn it? I can only do it on the ground 3x in XF (still practicing) but i can’t do it in the air at all XF or not.
