People need to start using ex larit armor cancel on their wake up against players that like to meaty them! It’s so easy to do as a reversel:

Just do qcf+kk so you are sure it is a reversal, then execute ultra throw or MS fast. This would deal with Guile’s upside down kick I believe.

Very patiently inch yourself into just outside of their fireball release ranges and start using cr.mp to catch their fireball releases. Used carefully this will very quickly deter further fireball spamming and will at least get them to try to move back out of your cr.mp range and toward the corner.

against certain meatys yes. I think this one in particular is special since he’s airborne so long and its really meaty. Like its grab box is actually out of range of bb and U2 PERIOD. So ex.lariat armor cancelled into anything other than super will most likely miss in its entirety (but i haven’t tested it so don’t hold me to it if i’m wrong). And in practice i feel that reverse spin kick isn’t used as a meaty but in block strings: e.g. j.hk, j.hp, reverse spin kick or like cr.mp xx ex.boom, reverse spin kick.

Vs Rose meaty st.mk - none of the armor cancels seem to work, they are either too slow or too fast

Why armour cancel into MS if ex MS is has armour to begin with?

Rose’s close mk is throw invincible (not airborne) I believe and recovers too quickly to be hit by ex lariat. Its 0 on block as well, pretty good normal.

Focus backdash?

if you armor cancel it extends the time for it to come out and/or may give it two hits of armor. That’s really the only reason to armor cancel into ex.ms. Also on Rose’s cl.mk, true, its throw invincible but only from frame 1-9, so if its meaty, then its only really invincible for 3f or so (if its done meaty). An armor cancel into ex.spd would probably beat it (or just ex.spd outright), but only if done meaty. [theory fighter]

I was just listing offensive options. Focus backdash is a defensive option, but since Hugo’s backdash is so short it probably puts him in just as bad a situation: i.e. Guile has recovered by the time you focus backdash and you have to deal with jab and/or boom pressure.

Why do people keep calling lk xx clap a combo when it doesn’t combo except for on counter hit?

I can’t punish Blanka balls or Honda headbutts. They bounce away too far. I’ve tried clap but they are out of reach. I almost never have super to punish with.

It depends on the distance, Blanka ball on block is generally punishable by U2 and/or ex.bb, under certain circumstances it’s not. You can punish honda heavy headbutt with walk forward st.mp I believe (not 100% on that). But yes, generally those moves are impossible to punish on block. You can punish in transit with st.mp or cr.mp but they will generally trade, you can also punish on reaction with lk.bb and ex.bb (for both).

lp clap/ex clap punishes EX Q Bomb and Tostada, dont feel like looking back to see if this was listed
