How to not suck at Fei Long: An Advanced Fei Long Guide

I finally started getting it now. A little more practice, and I can be much better than I ever thought I’d be. Thx guys.

Hope this guide will help me. Im new to sf4, and fei and im almost wanting to break my stick because im losing so much. Anway what does qcf mean?

QCF = Quarter Circle Forward = :d::df::f:

As a general tip I would just suggest you just keep playing lots of games and trying out different things you may have thought of or seen in a tutorial, as that’s the best way to learn.

did a tutorial showing lp rekkas being done, maybe if you watch it you may get it down, the time gap for the cLP is slight but with practice and muscle memory you should land it flawlessly

check out this vids

hope this helps

let me know if you had any questions

@ugo_2u
Watched your vids, they were good and easy to understand, but the second one i think cut off short. Anyway thanks for the vids

Hey man,

I been there. I actually broke 2 sticks over losing to be honest. I still lose, but SF is a gm where I feel you have to lose before you win.

I think I’ve gotten better since I picked up SF but just remember to practice.

Watching how others use Fei by watching the replay channel and on YouTube helps a lot. And of course, this forum has been great.

Practice your defense, FADC, and linking combos and you’ll get better. I’ll play with you sometime if you want.

We lives in our hopes, not our fears

you’re welcome, always remember that practice is the key, and if It makes you feel better Gen is alot harder to play than Fei. i wonder why he’s even my third main

I’ve just started maining Fei Long and learning how to Rekka from both sides of the screen and doing some bnb combos with Rekka. One of the combos I really want to do is st.hp > rekka because I’d catch my opponent with a cl.st.hp and my rekkas would come out too late. Any advice is appreciated.

Execution error–you need to cancel the cl.HP into Rekkas, so it needs to be done as fast as possible. Try a half circle motion to start yourself off, but then work your way to getting the exact inputs:

cl.:hp::hcf::hp:

Thanks Nosone. I want to use cr.lp > rekka and cr.lk > rekka as the basis of my attack, with st.hp, cr.mp, cr.mk, and st.lp as pokes. Any other advice you have for a Fei n00b? :wink:

cr.LK doesn’t cancel into Rekkas and doesn’t make for a good frame-trap since it moves your vulnerable hitbox forward, unlike, say, far st.HP. Don’t do that one especially because it can be punished on block without the proper spacing.

Otherwise, stick to the ground, walk your opponent to the corner, and then try to figure out how to keep your opponent away from you rather than thinking about a rush-down game. When Fei zones, he’s much safer and much more in control than when he’s blindly rushing in.

@Nemesis Prime

watch the above fei tutorials. it may help you get the rekka motion down. and show you other stuff you need to know to improve your game

I started playing Fei recently, is the information here still correct as it was written for vanilla?

yep. fei’s core gameplay style hasn’t changed really
